  1. Thanks. I was reading the notes from the Exec meeting and they did add language to transfer section. I'm wasn't sure of the rule before and was curious why they added a section to 8.5. It was voted on and accepted 19-0. (at lest they publish their votes, unlike B1G).
  2. Can someone a lot more knowledgeable than I please explain what the Exec Committee did last week regarding eligibility rules? Did they make exceptions temporarily due to Covid? For example, multiple athletes at Hammond Morton became eligible to compete at Merrillville after Hammond canceled all Fall sports. I'm happy for the students that they get a chance to play their senior season. How did this happen and happen so quickly? Also, it clearly appears to be for athletic purposes. So once again, did they change the rules for this season only? Was because Hammond canceled and this allowed all student athletes to transfer.
  3. Congratulations to Pioneer. Very impressive win!! I was way off on my prediction.
  4. Agree with your assessment on 6A size and depth taking a toll on 2A/3A opponents. Having watched Andrean play 6A competition over the years, you see the wear down effect in second half. Andrean has a bit of a gauntlet; scrimmaged Valpo last week, @Merrilville tonight, @ Lake Central next week, home against New Prairie week 3. We will see the wear down impact for a few weeks. I'm just happy we are playing.
  5. Chesterton by 3 td's unless some big injuries in week 1. QG for Chesterton is real deal. Pioneer pass defense will be tested all night long.
  6. Good point but I think B1G's optics are shot anyway and can't get much worse!!
  7. Play it at Ross Ade on Saturday afternoon, halfway between the two, bigger stadium to allow more fans. Purdue can generate some income since the stadium will be empty until Spring!!
  8. Griffith just canceled their games in week 1 and week 2. This creates an open date for Valpo in week 2. How about a week 2 match up between CG and Valpo? This would be an awesome game. Pick a neutral site somewhere between the two and play. If not, one team travels to other, prefer CG coming into the Region.
  9. I'm not sure if QB was Grimes. QB play was good. The 2nd play of scrimmage, the qb three a nice deep pass for td. I was just really impressed with Valpo's o line and running game. Their right tackle that is going to Western Michigan, Hofer, plays with an attitude. I think any qb is going to look good behind their online!
  10. Andrean and Valpo scrimmaged on Friday night. Valpo looked very good. Big up front on both sides of ball. Valpo looks ready to go. Running game looks like a strength. TBD on passing game. Andrean started off very slow but steadied as scrimmage went along. They have a lot of work still to do. QB play needs to improve fast. They have plenty of skill players and athletes. Both lines need to step up. Andrean has Merrillville Friday. Andrean gets a good look at the two leaders in the DAC. Merrillville absolutely loaded with size and athletes. Valpo has size and athletes as well but not the same as Merrillville. Valpo has very good coaching! I don't see anyone beating these teams until they play each other. After that and barring injury and/or Covid19, both of these teams could be repping the North in Indy in 5A and 6A.
  11. Factually incorrect. Don't confuse confirmed and those that have been isolated per protocol. This was a small number as well.
  12. Gipper please get your facts straight before making statements! Andrean has 1 confirmed case, a female student (As of today). Following their protocols, a small group of students have been quarantined per Lake County guidelines. School continued. Andrean scrimmaged Valpo Friday night. Merrillville this Friday night.
  13. Two horse race in DAC. Merrillville is absolutely loaded. 6-7 D1 players. Great size and skill players. Valpo is going to be great as well. Valpo has great size but the skill players aren't on the same level as Merrillville. Edge to Valpo in coaching. I'll go with Merrillville. Two horse race in NCC as well. Hobart and Andrean. Both teams return a lot of starters from last year and both have some D1 players.
  14. BNI has made significant capital investments recently, enrollment is up. I believe that BNI likes their location as it draws kids from Illinois and Indiana. When Andrean is in South Lake County, the Gary Diocese will have one high school in North Lake County (BNI), one in South Lake County (Andrean) and one in Porter County (Michigan City Marquette). This is a nice balance. Andrean enrollment was up last year and up again this year. There were 2-3 years in a row that have now graduated that were very low. Many reasons for the drop not worth discussing here. As an fyi, Andrean football team (9-12) has between 70-75 kids currently practicing.
  15. I believe all associated with Andrean are hoping for that comparison. I probably shouldn't say all associated with Andrean as there are some older alums that want to hang on to the legacy of the past, but the vast majority want a new school in South Lake County.
  16. First have to get approval from new Bishop of Gary Diocese. Supposedly a meeting with him this week or early next week. Site is on the Franciscan campus off of 65 and 231. Yes, the drawings suggest you will be able to see it from I65 looking east. Land donated by Nuns and a good chunk of money already committed. Since it will be incorporated into existing Franciscan campus, work has been conducted or being conducted on infrastructure i.e. roads, drainage, etc.
  17. Since both Andrean and Calumet were playing Chicago Catholic schools in week 2, they were already proactive with contingency if Illinois was delayed. According to NWI Times, this was discussed and planned back in June. Nice work by both schools! It would have been fun to have a Chatard vs Andrean matchup anywhere, Indy, Merrillville. Lafayette. Teams have not met since early 2000's. Once Andean builds their new school, enrollment will go up to be either 3A or 4A size. Then we can hopefully have this match up again.
  18. Great response by IHSAA Leadership. They will receive a lot of pressure from those who want to not start over the next 2-3 weeks. I respect their determination and thoughtfulness to keep moving forward and not panic.
  19. What is considered to be outdoor public space? Is school football field considered public space for both local public school and private school?
  20. cw13 - who are you referring to as Leadership? very nebulous. It's always someone else to make the decision. Gipper, cw13, and OUM - you are in favor of Spring football correct? Also known as kick the can down the road and hope for what? For you three, what are the things that have to be true to have football in Spring?
  21. The other thing that bothers me about the proponents of not returning to school is their belief that kids will isolate and social distance without school. Simply not true. Unless you are a hermit, just walk around your neighborhood, drive by a playground, go by a baseball field, bike by a basketball court, go to a beach, etc. Here is the reality - kids are together now and without masks. I witness it multiple times every day. I see parents with kids of all ages hanging out in driveways while kids play, grill out, sit at ball fields and some of these are the same parents and even some that are teachers that don't want to open schools. What????? Complete hypocrites!
  22. Temptation, unfortunately I think you are correct. The media and politicians have hijacked this pandemic vs the science. They have created this constant fear mongering and we wonder why many school administrators are afraid to make a call.
  23. Did you expect the virus to be gone?? Foolish on your part. A lot has changed since March 18, mainly we have learned a lot and have more data18 : March 18 2,000,000 projected deaths in US July 18 140,000 - Learning = not as deadly as originally feared March 18 - infection percent 40-50% of population July 18 10% of population March18 - masks don't matter July 18 - masks do matter March 18 - everyone is at risk July 18 - children under 17 low risk of getting it and transmitting it March 18 - shut everything down including schools because we don't know and no data July 18 - countries around the globe have opened up including in person school and no breakouts It's all about risk tolerance. Everyday you get in your car you have risk. If your answer is wait until their is a vaccine, we might be waiting for a very long time and still no 100% guarantee/risk free. OUM and WRCSage - answer is shut everything down I guess until vaccine is here. I disagree. Move forwarded and learn to live with COVID-19 in our environment.
  24. 18 out of 329 approx. 5%. I'd love to see 0 but not completely freaking out yet. 12 out of 18 are in Lake and Porter Counties. In my mind, next 2 weeks are key. Two weeks of practice under our belt and lets see it we have nay more breakouts. Also, watch positivity rate. It must stay under 10%. cw13 - are you tracking when they fall off list due to return?
