  1. Thanks Bobref! On a related but broader topic, what are the ramifications and accountabilities for high school officials as individuals and/or crews that have bad games/seasons? Is it only the lack of advancement in the tournament? Suspensions? Removal?
  2. If the IHSAA allowed appeals, would Danville win the appeal? Looking for the opinion of the former or current officials on this thread to answer. I’ve read this entire thread and all the various opinions on the play in question and I apologize but I’ve lost the plot if it was the correct call or not and Danville should have been the winner.
  3. Touting MAC recruits?? You’re an idiot!! Read the post moron. A poster asked how many D1 kids does CP have. I answered with those that I know of. Period. Read the chain before you spew your crap!
  4. Not backtracking at all. CP will win the North. You misunderstand like you usually do Temptation. CP will physucally impose their will on whoever they play for all 4 quarters. Impressive. I was answering his question.
  5. CP may have more I don’t know. Im sure a couple of their lineman have some. Fake disrespect??? What are you talking about? God forbid there is a very good football team from the North in 6A to challenge the Indy teams this year and post it on what I call the “Indianapolis” Gridiron Digest. We shall see very soon.
  6. I’m aware of at least 3 D1 offers/commits on CP. QB committed to Miami OH, TE/LB B1G offers for LB, TE/ DE committed to either Miami OH or Ball St. There might be more but I know for sure. Agree CP could bolster their non conference schedule and wouldn’t have to far to travel. They could and should play some of the Chicago area schools. Whoever CP faces, their opponent better be ready for a very physical brand of football on both sides of the ball for all 4 quarters.
  7. CP 2+ td’s better than Penn and Carroll. Westfield will be a game but they are better than Westfield. No team in Indy this year is nearly as good as Ben Davis last year. I don’t have a dog in the fight but CP is playing like dominating football. You will see.
  8. Keep underestimating them. I love it. They are more experienced and much better. I’m not 100% sure but I think every game has gone to a running clock. Physical football team with a talented QB. Westfield thought like you did last year! How’d that turn out for them??? Looking forward to the second season!
  9. Crown Point is better than last year. You saw it here first….Crown Point will win 6A this year! I’m not saying it will be easy but they are a machine this year. Defensively much improved from last year.
  10. I don’t know anything at all about Homestead football, but after reading the numerous posts and looking at their season results over the years, they remind me of a slightly better version of Lake Central HS in The Region. They have the enrollment, diversity, facilities, athletes but just can’t get it together. Another new coach this season. Let’s see if anything changes??
  11. Completely agree with you. Carmel, the largest school in the state for years, has a total of 9 titles in football with 4 coming since 2000. In my opinion, this is significant underperformance and should be a major frustration for Carmel fans.
  12. I think there are a lot of other factors in play when making that decision. Skill level ie average hs player or next level player, multi sport athlete, friend group, girlfriend, both teams success history, likelihood of clearing IHSAA and I’m sure there are others. If I have realistic expectations of playing at next level so an above average player, likely transfer only after eliminating position change on current school team.
  13. I don’t have any numbers or names but in the Region specifically I’m hearing of a lot of Illinois players transferring into CP, HC, LC, Munster. Historically, I believe that LC and Munster have been net losers in transfers meaning losing more kids to Illinois Catholic League schools. CP under Buzea who came from Homewood Flossmor has increased his activity with Illinois kids as well as other Region schools. Hanover which is very close to the state line has been getting some now as well. I’ve heard that they have quite a few with some being very good players. All could be just rumors but that is what I’m hearing.
  14. In the Region, Lowell and Bishop Noll will have new turf fields. DAC: all turf NCC: Hanover - turf KV - turf Munster - turf Highland - turf Lowell - turf Hobart - turf Andrean - grass GSSC - whiting - turf BNI - turf Calumet - turf Boone Grove - turf Griffith - turf ECC - turf Wheeler - turf Gary Westside - turf Lake Station - ? River Forest - ? Bottomline is hardly anyone with grass anymore.
  15. Dude, there is an entire backstory on Clacks that could take up this entire thread. It didn’t work out so well for him. Feel bad for him though. Henry struggled in big games all year and Ballentine was bad on recovery and honestly was underwhelming his entire senior year not all his fault but a lot was. He could never read rpo’s his entire career. Once Drayk was hobbled and MD shutdown run, pressure placed on QB’s and neither performed. On that day, the better team won. If healthy, maybe different outcome.
  16. If you recall, they did prep Ballentine but his arm was a rag arm. When he played earlier in playoffs, his arm was garbage. Not faulting him but he was a shell of himself. Henry played well during season all things considered but struggled in big games and did in that game. Bowen had a pcl injury since Merrillville game aggravated in semi state and sprained it in 1st quarter. Oh I almost forgot, Clacks has strep throat came on during walk through at LOS. So basically your entire offense is injured, recovering from injury and/or sick and MD coaches were brilliant in running a 4x4 stack they didn’t show all year. So Scarab the new OC for Andrean, what you going to do. Also, let’s not forget MD damn good team. I’m sorry but refuse to view that one as an example of a bad loss.
  17. Live viewing: Decade: Brady Allen ( only because Matt DeSomer is outside the 10 yrs) All Time: Tommy Finn ( He was the best clutch player I’ve seen in high school sports). When a play had to be made in football and baseball, he always delivered. Just unbelievable! Desomer was better pure athlete than Finn but Tommy Finn had the “it” factor.
  18. Completely agree with you. RC is a good program, well coached with kids that buy in. They also run an offensive scheme we don’t see often and tends to give us fits.
  19. Disagree on Mater Dei game in State finals. #1 MD was a good football team. #2 Andrean is playing with their back up qb and original starting qb coming off broken collarbone and # 3 Bowen playing with a torn PCL and sprains his ankle in 1st quarter in same leg. I’ll give you Pioneer game. Pioneer no slouch but not the better team. They made every 4th down play and Andrean didn’t and turned it over. Covid year…. Weird season overall.
  20. I tend to agree with some caveats. Most of those wins were against really weak opponents in Greater South Shore Conference. Impressed with their performance and results in 1st year of NCC which was arguably down last year. Playoff performance needs to improve. HC is a great addition to NCC.
  21. Gipper - what are you talking about in regards to Andrean and NCC? Examples please. I can think of LaVille last year as one they should have won with a very young team. NCC has had state finalists in Hobart and Andrean(2) in last 5 years.
  22. A lot here to respond to: 1. Enrollment is still extremely large. Your telling me that you can’t find quality players with close to 3,000 students?? 2. If your definition of a good program is winning State titles, I get it to a point but this would imply all other 6A teams in football aren’t good programs besides those in the MIC as they have won every 6A title. 3. I was not aware of the Pop Warner situation. A shame as this was a very good program. 4. Middle school set up still leaves two very large feeder schools. Should be adequate. 5. Andrean, Mt Carmel and Marian Catholic have always poached and will continue to poach. 6. Agree Hanover benefitting the most with the growth in south St. John. I think there is more to support or lack there of from the Administration. I’ve heard from too many people that there is no desire to be great in football from Administration. Limit budget for football to support an excellent staff is one example that I’ve heard consistently from these same people.
