Taking a poll. Vote Yea or Nay My overall stance is that it is not a good idea. Although there are exceptions to every rule, it is almost impossible for a parent to be unbiased in their treatment or assessment of their own child. Either too critical or alternatively view the performance through rose colored glasses. Even if somehow you're able to remain objective, the optics are bad and leave yourself and team open to criticism. Youth - Yea - in most cases dads are needed at this level as you don't get a ton of people volunteering to coach 3-6th graders. MS - Nay- not a good idea if you have alternatives HS - Nay - not a good idea if you have alternatives There are a bunch of variables: 1. Qualification of the coach - better be rock solid. 2. Player's talent - As the player's talent level goes down, the number of questions goes up. 3. team performance - If you go 10-0 there will be questions but they won't be very loud. If you go 1-9 look out.

Looks like C v H is the only game that will get much attention this week. C by 3 how is Concordia looking this year? Much improved over last year?

Week 6 Score Thread

The amount of pioneer ball washing in gid is a little over the top. Still #1 in the gid 2A poll? They are a good 2A team but they will not represent the North this year... got beat by New Haven who will finish middle of the pack in the NE8 best case. Saw the film... good but not elite. -

They’re ok but not the Luers of old. Will be v surprised if the make it out of sectional with Fairfield And Bremen in their way -
Thanks for the explanation.

So does the call change if the dlineman had been beyond the LOS? Does the call change had the ball been recovered beyond the LOS?
-
Sounds like they got it right. R ball at the spot if the recovery.

It was 4th down. Went back and watched film and it was very close but I would say that the Dlineman was slightly behind the LOS when attempting to field the punt. The ball was recovered by K team behind the LOS. It was 4th down. Punt is partially blocked and goes straight up to around the line of scrimmage. A defensive lineman attempts to field the punt but muffs the catch and the ball is loose. Recovered by the kicking team. Whose ball?

2020 GID Week 5 Poll
Purdue Pete replied to WCGrad92's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Knights knocks off 2nd straight ranked 4A team East Noble. Come on GID pollers... show us some love next week. -
Agree. Once we're within 2 weeks of sectional I really think coaches need to start taking a hard look at who they REALLY need out there. Put your 3 deep chart together and ride with those players. The bigger your team, the more likely COVID will take you out instead of an opponent. Would be horrible for seniors to have to forfeit due to the 3rd string punter testing positive.

junior high is the key imo. U have to strike a balance. U have to maintain numbers (as best u can), continue to teach, have fun AND u have to get some Wins. I’ve seen MS programs with 75 kids out. EVERYONE got to play.... ALOT. Got thumped every week. Athletes got sick of it and quit playing... the rest didn’t stick with it either cause all the athletes quit. took 5 years to rebuild.

2020 GID Week 5 Poll
Purdue Pete replied to WCGrad92's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
If pioneer stays #1 in 2A then Ud think the team that thrashed New Haven would get a little love in the 3A poll? -
Some really good thoughts. 1. Back to back classes is huge. 3-4 in a row and ur starting to talk powerhouse not just a solid program. 2. O’Shea was the first name that came to my mind as well. LCC dropped off quite a bit immediately after his departure and he’s done a great job at N.C. but it’s 6a so I wasn’t sure how pertinent my post was to that class. 3. Weights and nutrition are icing on the cake once u have the athletes interested and involved. Which is a biggest hurdle for many programs across the state. If u don’t get the athletes to play then it doesn’t matter what u feed ur team.
