On the flip side…having a freshman team as a 3A school or lower is a huge advantage.  Creates the solution of “reloading not rebuilding”

Sometimes.  I’ve also seen this go horribly wrong.  Elevating frosh playmakers off the team to play varsity and JV leaving the remaining team to get pummeled every week.  Hard enough being a frosh during practice.  Have to be very careful 3A and below in deciding whether on not to field a Frosh team.

Wow Westfield? Would take a monumental effort from all those guys who will never play at the next level. You know the ones who still lean on the fence at home games telling tall tales about their high school career . . You know like half the members of this forum.   At least they could tell everyone that doesn't believe them 20 years from now they beat center Grove at state in 21....

    I think it’s more than 1/2 😂

1A: Adams Central vs Lutheran: I think Adams Central wins this game in a close one. Lutheran has a weird way of not winning games in Semistate or State that they are favorites in, going back to the last 10 years.

2a: Andrean vs Mater Dei: I think Andrean wins this game in a close one as well. This may be one of my favorite matchups of the weekend. Two powerhouse private schools that possess a lot of talent on both teams.

3a: Brebeuf vs Gibson Southern: This is my favorite game of the weekend. Brebuef's D-Line will be the difference in the game and get key pressure on Allen. After seeing GS play Tri-West on Saturday, GS plays a fun brand of football with a lot of team speed on their side. I think this is another game that goes to the wire. Brebeuf's explosiveness in the pass game should be concerning to the GS defense.

4a: Northridge vs Mt. Vernon: Northridge's Cinderalla run ends with a loss to the Marauders. Mt. Vernon is just too explosive for Northridge to contain for 48 minutes. I think this will be the best atmosphere of the 6 games.

5A: Zionsville vs Cathedral: I think this game will end with a final score similar to the New Pal/Cathedral game in the Regionals. I just don't see how Zionsville gets it going offensively against one of the best defenses in the state.

6a: Westfield vs CG: The amount of high-level talent in this game is unbelievable. It'll be a well-executed game on both sides but CG wins this by 2-3 TDs. I just don't see how Westfield will be able to run the ball against the Trojans' stout DL.

We’ll said.  John Harrell has both Gibson Southern and AC favored.  3A game will be a great game.  BJ wins 38-35 for the reasons u noted.
1A game will be a good one.  Covenant and Busco made them work a little in sectional.  Lutheran handled Scecina in regular season while Eastside was a bit too much for AC. Lutheran 24-21.

Tough break for the Busco eagles.  LCC and Pioneer moved out of the way into 2A.  Without Covid freeze it may have been their year.

I am going on memory, so if I am wrong on one of these.  Feel free to post a correction.  Its been a Loooooong Day!

Looking forward to 1A-3A.  Should be good games.  Not so sure about 4,5,6.

  5. Saw BJ up close in regional and watched Marion game on a sloppy field.  Watched the GS semi state game.  I’m of the opinion that this will be a close game.  The BJ D line is legit.  Allen will have to get rid of the ball quick.  Don’t think he will be able to scramble for 10 seconds behind the line for someone to get open like he did in SS game.  Very impressed with GS receivers… also have some very good defensive players that bring the wood.  BJ battled back vs Marion.  I got BJ in this one by a late FG 38-35

  6. AC fans.  After 5 weeks of constant (and needless) “wringing of hands”, u finally have something to be legitimately worried about.  The inevitable matchup is here.  Lutheran QB is as good as Davis from Eastside.  But… they spread u out unlike Eastside.  The TB is better than Eastside FB.  Overall they’re better than ES.  Thanks to Tri they just played a wing T offense and seemed to figure it out later in the game.  Tri seemed to run wingT with a bit more creativity than what AC runs.  Secondary looks solid.  Handled  Scecina who just lost in 2A semis.  John Harrel has AC -3?  U buying that?

If you have a Roku TV or FireStick, IHSAA has an app you can download, but you will need to pay to watch.

I want to complain about the $15, but to be honest, it’s nice to watch all 3 local teams of my interest - MD, EM last night and GS today.

Good luck Titans. I will be watching today from the comfort of my couch, grumbling about the IHSAA price of course. Lol

Except when they stop streaming as they now have.  Great work fellas.  top notch crew calling the game and running the tech team.

None of the teams that beat NJ even won sectional. The team that beat AC by 2 points is still fighting for a 2A championship. But nothing in the past is gonna matter on that field tonight.

    AC 34 - NJ 14

Exactly.  Three rivers champs (Conf may actually be worst than ACAC) beat up NJ and then got exposed in sectional.  This will not be a close game.

  9. Have only watched 1st half of both regional games this year but saw Eastside last year a couple times.  Davis and Bowen cancel out.  Will come down to line and others.  Was impressed with Andrean Qb/wr bros +  slot.  Eastside FB is tough TE is decent.  Going to be a tight game similar to Luers but dont think Eastside has enough this time around.

It would have been a running clock after the first half on a good playing surface. My next weekly worry is our semi state record of 1-12. I think we should win, but bus lag to NJ is concerning. Also the memories of 03 always haunt me.

    03?  What about 84 / 86?

Jets need to take a page out of the Jesuit playbook.  They showed up at Norwell last night little after 4pm

Not sure what you mean by this comment? Norwell has had a number of ups and downs in their football history and overall as a school they have a winning record of 300-281-1, with 6 double digit win seasons since 1980. They have 8 sectional championships to their name along with 2 state runner-ups (1999 and 2006).

Sure they had a bad stretch between 2010 and 2018, but even in 2012 when they went 0-9 in the regular season they won their first 2 games of sectional play before falling 14-7 against FW Dwenger.

Norwell has always been a strong program, especially being one of the smaller teams in the Northeast Hoosier/Northeast 8 conference.

They’re back on track now and should continue to be very competitive for the next couple years.

Can’t argue with the picks other than to note 100% chance of rain Thursday.  If ur on grass and field is still tore up from 2 weeks ago the slop is the ultimate equalizer (SA).

They did struggle with the big FB, but yes they tackled much better. Once again, fall break needs to be a week or two sooner. Believe that took place of the Busco game. This week you can't help think about the 2019 AC vs SA regional game. No way that field is going to be in good condition. It wasn't yesterday in Berne. AC should win, but after AC upset a heavy favorite SA 2019 you need to be cognizant.

I heard SA has been Practicing on that game field all week. Keeping it nice and “broke in”.  30% chance of rain Friday.
