Hoping for competitive championship games but …
6A: Center Grove over Westfield by many
5A: Cathedral over Valparaiso by many
4A: Roncalli over Leo by many (gotta throw the ball at LOS Leo)
3A: WL over Gibson Southern by many (reference last year where top 5 teams were from the north. This year WL and BJ are on a different level)
2A: Luers over Linton-Stockton by many. Top 5 teams are from North.
1A: Lutheran over Adams Central by 14
-
Sectional 43: SW at Taylor… an example (imo) of the benefit of the current non-seeded tournament. These two teams will have the best week of practice all year. They got a shot at a “W”. Both will be super excited to come out and play.

After filling out my brackets for the tourney, I came up with these Finalists. Again, I am not looking for anyone to agree or disagree, just my gut going through all the games one at a time and placing who I think is going to win on any given Friday.
6A - Avon (23.38%) vs Homestead(1.95%) (Yes, I realize first year no MIC team in Final)
5A - New Palestine(18.87%) vs Valparaiso(21.32%)
4A - East Noble(7.21%) vs East Central(19.15%)
3A - Ind. Chatard(63.18%) vs Heritage Hills(9.96%)
2A - Cass(28.03%) vs Evans Mater Dei(7.18%)
1A - South Adams(14.75%) vs Ind Lutheran(53.6%)
Just my 2 cents
Bold picks… No Center Grove, no Cathedral, East Noble plays Leo first round, Chatard is 4A, no Luers, Eastbrook or Andrean in 2A, SA was beaten 23-0 by Monroe Central this year.

Too bad for COVID. Can you imagine if the 2A sectional was Luers, AC, Eastside.
I hope Eastside can give Luers a game but I think the Eagles will need rain and sloppy field to stay close.

But isnt Luers also close to 3A?... fits my theory that power porgrams at peak enrollment...can b tigers by the tail....
According to IHSAA enrollment for last year they were at 542. Daneville is at the top of 3A at 801. Seems Luers planted firmly in 2A until they win state this year.
Norwell was at 800 so they’re in the same boat as AC in that they’re benefitting this year by playing down a class from where they should be (3A v 4A)
-
Lutheran v AC is pretty much a done deal. Busco or Monroe Central will be the best game AC gets in the North and they’re still -21 in both game. SA and Southwood are way down from last year and no LCC to worry about.
Deep thought: had the classes not been frozen this year AC would be up in 2A with a sectional date with Luers.

Thanks for the details. Makes a bit more sense. How do u score 70 in a quarter? Still…between the two HCs …this could’ve and should’ve been avoided.

I wasn’t at the game so I have no context. If it was 77-0 at half then maybe there is some shred of dignity which could be preserved. But this score is 9 points from national news and LB coach and AD both being in hot water… and they probably should be. No excuse for this imo. Take a knee. I’m now the biggest Gibson Southern fan in the state. Hope the throttle LB by 50.

This would be a very interesting matchup.
Here are my takeaways from the Brebeuf-Roncalli game:
1. Brebeuf Jesuit (BJ) has a few very fast and talented WRs. The Annee kid ran right by several Roncalli DBs. They will be hard to cover.
2. BJ QB has accuracy problems. Under 50% for the game and under 60% for the season. His WRs made several circus catches in the Roncalli game that bailed him out.
3. BJ had problems in this game running the ball. Also seem to be shakey running most of the season.
4. DL is really tough. Two All State kids, plus another 240lb DT that played will. Looks like another decent kid. They tried to go 4-3 to stop the run and went 3-4 in passing situations.
5. DBs must of keyed on Roncalli's best receiver because he did not have a catch. The DBs seem fast. Their LBs move well to the ball.
Have not seen a full GS game. They will have advantate at QB and I know they have a really good WR.
Can the OL hold up and how is there defense? I know that teams that pass the ball well tend to play defense against the pass better because they see it in practice.
Chatard was dominate last year and got taken to the wire by both Concordia and Mishawaka Marian in the tournament. BJ may be the favorite to represent the North but far from a lock. Might not even make it out of 28.

Not gonna happen, no life at all this week.

If you consider the first five minutes of the first quarter “a while” then sure, those two games might be close. Otherwise, this is a snoozer week for good games in the SAC. I’ll try to stream the Brebeuf/Roncalli or Nowell/East Noble games if I can. Those should be good matchups.
Norwell will have their hands full based on relative performance vs Leo.

Leo up 32-12 over EN at halftime.
Leo ground game dominating.
Wow
Norwell 21 New Haven 18 Half

Not sure I consider this a HS football issue. It’s a ncaa / college issue that doesn’t concern any of the kids most any of us will watch this years. Non issue for me.

Leo up 34-0 over Norwell at half

Columbia City @ Bellmont - Not much to say, Col City by 35.
Dekalb @ New Haven - Tough year for Dekalb keeps getting worse, New Haven by 14.
Huntington North @ East Noble - Sophomore QB continues to settle in, heavy dose of EN run game, EN by 24.
Leo @ Norwell - Leo’s powder puff non conference schedule is over but not much changes, different Norwell team than last year, Leo by 27.
Bellmont, Dekalb and H North are going to battle for 6,7, 8th this year. Can’t argue with those spreads above.
Norwell lost a ton of talent and experience but retooled with a very talented group of incoming Juniors. If this game was played week 9 I’d say Leo -10. This early in the season will be tough game for young knights team. -
Norwell 42
Heritage 0

Norwell up 28-6 over Jenning co
Bluffton up 14-0 over Northfield

We are finally back let's do this.
Luers at CARROLL
DWENGER at Wayne
SNIDER at North Side
South Side at CONCORDIA
HOMESTEAD at Northrop
Interested in SS Concordia. Cadets lost a ton last year. Other than that… chalk

I would put a lot of money on that line. I haven’t seen AC yet, but I know a whole new offensive and defensive lines for SA could struggle. SA is going to be a lot better than many expect, but I could see them struggling to stop Heyerly.
Ya my bad. -7 not +7. AC looked sharp

Looks like they just rolled forward last year’s poll. As much as I enjoy South Adams at 2, they just aren’t there, at least right now based on all they lost.
Thought on AC v SA at Monroe? I’ve seen them both in thuds early this year. I think I’d put the line at AC +7 at home.

Agree except for Wayne. Bottom tier of the SAC is exposed except for Concordia who essentially has a bye.
