  1. Why are you only referring to scholarships? Don’t be so close minded. I am largely the man I am today BECAUSE of my participation in high school athletics. I chose my career based in part to my love for them, created lifelong relationships because of them and networked my way through life based on many of those relationships and experiences.
  2. A game played by children that can open doors for many of them. A game played by children that takes the time to crown a champion. A game played by children that takes the time to compile national rankings. A game played by children in which networks show high profile contests on national television. A game played by children that has a dedicated forum like this one that you spends hours on each day. You like to “poo poo” the significance and interest in the sport all the while allowing it to consume a large chunk of your time. Interesting.
  3. The topic is playing fields. The most debated/questioned playing field of the season has been Arlington for obvious reasons. Indiana had a chance to put itself on the map and in the national spotlight earlier this month and one school chose not to by playing the contest on a slip and slide. CG’s speed is far superior to Cathedral’s, both at the top end of the roster as well as depth. That is not debatable. Cathedral had multiple state finalists but nearly every kid that CG put on the bus that day last June earned all state recognition. “At the end of the day, we’ll decide what field suits us better to win the game.” FINALLY…an admission. I know this was a big step for you but it’s critical to the healing process. Now, I need the REAL story on why Tech is no longer an option for Cathedral…I’ve heard rumors…
  4. An extracurricular that molds youngsters and teaches many life lessons through sport, no? Can we at least agree that extracurriculars can play a large role in the lives of youth and aid in helping the become successful adults? Or are you also not willing to concede that point?
  5. Those in education-based athletics commit themselves to putting those very same children that you speak of in the very best position to succeed whether it be in the classroom or on the playing field. Can’t have it both ways. Do better.
  6. Even if you were a member of Cathedral administration, you would not come out and give a straight answer. Your analysis of their other games is shortsighted. They could’ve played those games on an aircraft carrier and it would not have mattered. CG was the only team on the schedule more talented than the Irish and the only team with a clear and distinct speed advantage. You continue to believe your fairy tales, I’ll live in reality.
  7. Carmel at Avon: Two teams with completely differing goals entering the postseason. Carmel has its sights set on a rematch with Center Grove (though they cannot overlook contests against Brownsburg or BD potentially) while Avon is trying to simply stay competitive here. Both defenses have gotten better it seems but their starting line was much different. Gimme Carmel 42-21. Brownsburg at Pike: We have once again reached that time of year where Brownsburg gets another opportunity to prove the doubters wrong. A regular season juggernaut that seems to fizzle in the postseason. I foresee little trouble with Pike though this one to be closer than many think early on. Brownsburg 28-7. Southport at Ben Davis: BD begins its quest for a third straight sectional title and the Cardinals should provide little resistance. BD rolls 51-7. North Central at Lawrence North: NC is looking to end a season that they would like to forget. LN has revenge against Warren on their minds. Like Brownsburg, no one will take the Wildcats seriously until they make noise in the postseason. They roll here though. LN wins 34-10. Warren Central at Lawrence Central: Two teams that ended the season in complete opposite directions face off tonight on the northeast side. LC is the most improved team in the conference and Warren may be rusty after so much time off. I still feel they get it done though it is closer than last time. Warren wins 27-17. Center Grove at Franklin Central: The Trojans once again call their final score here in ending what looks to be a promising future for Franklin Central. Gimme 48-7 CG.
  8. Just to be clear, no one is “losing their mind.” However, the hypocrisy of moving tonight’s game against PLAINFIELD while maintaining the stance that the field was not only playable but that CG fans were “whining” is damn rich. They showed the capability to make a decision within a short time frame when they moved tonight’s game. Everyone knew days out that the field would be in awful shape that Friday night also. I’d honestly let it go and smirk of Cathedral would just fess up and show their hand. It was obvious gamesmanship. Once again, this is CATHEDRAL we are talking about, not Dugger or Edinburgh. (Hell, with the arrogance of many Cathedral folks, they probably believe that they did Plainfield a favor by shortening their bus ride just to get their teeth kicked in tonight.)

  10. Yep. And it was awful then. I remember Veterans Stadium, Three Rivers and Riverfront Stadium too. Hell, the Astrodome is still standing. C’mon. It’s 2021… A state/national powerhouse program playing on that field is an absolute abomination. They should be embarrassed.
  11. If you say so. Generally addressing the inability to stay on topic without specifically denouncing the two folks who resorted to slander and name calling is telling. I’ll punt on this one. Your rules.
  12. I am. How these guys are allowed to hurl attempted insults left and right baffles me. I’ve been on topic the whole time. Folks who disagree resort to name calling. Lecturing the wrong person my friend.
  13. Two W’s in a row. You really need to look up the definition of “ignore.”
  14. Putting words in my mouth. Never said artificial turf. Nice try though. There are grassy areas used for elementary field day and middle school fields superior to Arlington Middle School. We should always strive to do better. I’m the “official” leader in positive contribution points to this forum over the past 7 days…good enough for me.
  15. Just because we CAN play games in adverse conditions, doesn’t mean we SHOULD. Weather itself is beyond our control, but how those facilities hold up in certain weather conditions is. FWIW, I also don’t churn my own butter, ride a horse and buggy to and from work nor watch football games on a projector screen.
  16. Quite possibly the coolest success story in the entire state that no one seems to be talking about. The Patriots have been a bottom feeder for the last few years (12-39 over the past 5 prior to 2021 if my math is correct). Cool story and have gained a fan in this guy.
  17. A couple of weeks ago when I asked a poster who associates themselves with the school in question in this thread to create a list of advantages/perks that his/her favorite school benefits from, I was not even considering something like this, lol. All kidding aside, plenty of rules in society are dumb and not enforceable but siding with the guilty party and trashing the rule itself is a ridiculous take. I surely hope the "coach" who posted above is not seriously affiliated with the program. Embarrassing.
  18. Its a bit intriguing as LC played much better football down the stretch and who knows as Warren is coming off of two consecutive losses to end the season and took an additional week off. I still expect a fairly easy Warren win but the 24 would make me nervous. FWIW, Sagarin has it at roughly 10 when home field is factored in. I'll say it end up being something between the two.
