  1. So hyperbole it was. A slight step back from the “Fastest High school player I have witnessed with running back power and moves.”
  2. I think this would be more applicable had those 5 losses been close. Three of them were absolute bloodbaths. The Hoosiers have been outscored 170-52 in those 5 contests…
  3. https://247sports.com/Player/Justin-Marshall-46125770/ I don’t believe P5 was ever mentioned.
  4. Kid is an electronic sub 11 second guy in the 100 meter dash which is pretty damn impressive but not always a clear indicator of “football speed” some will tell you. That being said, the hyperbole that he’s “the fastest kid I’ve ever seen with running back power and moves” either means this poster hasn’t witnessed much football in his/her lifetime or is exaggerating greatly.
  5. Is it possible to run the table and win the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots on Tecmo Super Bowl for the NES?
  6. Yes, with good QB play last night they only lose 54-17.
  7. Here works. 9 wins over the next two years combined seems realistic.
  8. Yes! I know they are kids and it is sometimes difficult to control emotions but how teams react to certain victories sometimes foreshadows their future…
  9. Oh I could see that contest easily coming down to the last possession but calling Leo/East Noble “basically the semi state game for the north” is a bit premature. I could also foresee New Prairie or Lowell making Leo sweat.
  10. Not sure what I’m missing here but I have a hard time believing ND doesn’t cover the 7 tonight. Sort of a sucker bet. Now, if they trot out of the tunnel wearing those damn green jerseys, all bets are off.
  11. Looking forward to the 5A/6A schools taking the night off and enjoying some 1A-4A action. Gonna get Brebeuf/West Lafayette on one screen and Leo/East Noble on the other…those seem to be two of the big ones. Good luck all!
  12. Good quarterback play is essential and while you are correct, there were many other variables at play. 1. The more and more data we see in 2021 leads me to believe that 2020 was an anomaly for more than just the Hoosiers. 2. The lack of crowds (environment is the number one difference between the pro/collegiate game) benefited certain teams. These are 18-22 year old kids who thrive on emotion. Take it away and all bets are off. 3. Both Penn State and Michigan had key opt outs last season and their return to the top ten this season proves they were a shell of themselves in 2020. (No fault of the Hoosiers but still a fact.) All week long I’ve heard how Indiana gave Ohio State a great game in the horseshoe last year, hell I heard it all summer. The reason I bring that up is that folks projected that into their chances this fall. It hasn’t worked out that way. Like I said above, Indiana will find ways to score against Ohio State but the 2020 result was more attributed to the Buckeyes taking their foot off the gas more so than IU closing the gap.
  13. Many Gibson Southern fans will be the first to tell you they’ve been here before.
  14. Glad we can finally stop pretending Coastal Carolina is a top 25 team.
  15. Though the most talented team in the Big Ten, OSU does have the 76th ranked D in America. If the Hoosiers can’t move the ball on Saturday night, just cancel the rest of the season.
  16. Dismissing Brebeuf, West Lafayette Lawrenceburg and Danville huh? I don’t disagree that GS may be the favorite but it’s slight at best. I maintain this is the most competitive class.
  17. The schedule strength gives me pause. That Westfield game was a long time ago…and they travel TO Zionsville.
  18. Maybe just a hunch or I am reaching? 1. The Duneland seems better in 2021 than it was in 2020. Chesterton emerged as a solid squad, Valpo seems better, even Crown Point was fairly formidable. All that being said, Merrillville ran roughshod to though the conference unscathed. 2. Their two non conference wins were over teams that should be playing well into November. That should not be overlooked. 3. Maybe, just perhaps chemistry was an issue in 2020 with the transfers they obtained? (This is a complete shot in the dark as I have no actual evidence.) 4. Experience. The majority of their players have a sectional/regional title under their belts and have experience in the semi state round. They’ll be prepared. 5. The disrespect/fuel factor. While I don’t think kids/coaches are reading any bulletin board nonsense here, in this day of social media it’s impossible to miss. Teams from outside of central Indiana HAVE to be sick and tired of hearing how they cannot compete. Listen, I could be way off base here and as recently as 3-4 weeks ago, I’d call Westfield in a walk over but I just have a feeling about this Merrillville team. Their disposal of a good Valpo team on their home field and destruction of a damn fine Chesterton team really opened my eyes. Westfield is a damn fine football team and deserves all of the respect and accolades they are receiving. This is by no means disrespect to them at all. Many folks on here paint me as someone who stirs the pot (and I sometimes deserve it) but I’ll also be the first one on here to admit I’m wrong next month if that’s the case.
  19. Define them how you will but who are some dogs flying under the radar that could cause chaos in the tournament? I’ll drop a few: 6A: Merrillville. Yes I know they are up there in the polls but they still seem to be getting little respect outside of northwest Indiana. I think they sneak by Westfield this time around. 5A: Michigan City. Gimme the Wolves to redeem themselves after letting Valpo pull away late in the regular season contest. MC gets to the semi state. 4A: Chatard. Once again, I know a familiar name but after the 0-4 start, they are playing great football. Calling them to upset Roncalli. 2A: Heritage Christian. Seems not too many folks are talking about these guys. A solid outfit that could upset the apple cart and make a run in 2A. Whatcha got?
  20. I’ll be the first to go on record and make it official… Chatard over Roncalli. There you have it.
