    Yeah, I get it but if you want to be taken seriously as a 5A/6A contender you can’t get wrecked by a 3A school, no matter how good they are.

    And I’m taking nothing away from that 2020 Chatard outfit. They went 14-1 and rolled to the 3A state title but they DOMINATED a Merrillville squad that was hyped up all season. Makes me think Decatur Central (or someone else) can do the same to them this fall.

    Know what keeps me from declaring Merrillville the “easy favorite” right now? Chatard rolling them in 2020. Probably unfair on my part, I know… @BTFknocks me for dropping the phrase “Allen County good” in regards to some of the SAC schools, but I’m fearing Merrillville may only be “Region good” until they prove otherwise. I’ll take the field in 5A.

    NC: 8-45 in the 5 years prior to O’Shea NC: 25-27 under O’Shea I say again, let’s revisit this talk in 4 months. I’ll place the over under on NC regular season wins at 3.5. If they get 4, they are still on the right track… If they somehow get 5 or more, they exit this discussion.

    As a fan, I tend to agree. I can’t go to 64 sectional title games as they are all on the same night.

    Every other MIC school can claim some sort of late postseason success in boys basketball and football over the last two decades with the exception of NC.

    Lemme play devil’s advocate here for a moment and open up another topic of conversation… Why has NC boys basketball been a fixture for the better part of three decades? What’s holding the football program back? Aren’t your football and basketball players often “the same pool” of kids? If working in harmony, can’t you be great/elite at both?

    Has any statewide data been collected recently? One would have to think that central Indy coaches would be heavily in favor but do they speak for the rest of the state? And of course the million dollar question every time this topic comes up: HOW?
