Initial thoughts on the bracket... 1. On paper, the top half looks brutal, whomever comes out of that one will definitely have earned it. 2. Still unsure how you can rank Penn State ahead of Ohio State and SMU in front of Clemson with a straight face. 3. Gotta revamp this one in the future as it seems Penn State BENEFITTED from losing the Big Ten title game and got a better draw than Oregon. Just seed it and pick the best 4. 4. Is 12 actually TOO many? Though I see it going to 16 long before they consider 8. 5. Notre Dame's draw. An Indiana team that they should beat followed by Georgia who has questions at the QB position. How is everyone feeling?

Hell, they FIRED Tom Crean despite him winning two conference titles. (I’ve gotta hand it to you though…”we made the final four in 2002” is one helluva flex.)

Significance differs based on tradition and history. One program’s definition differs from another. Indiana fans love to cite “banners” when inserting themselves into basketball discussions so it’s title or bust. North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and UCLA are not out there bragging about conference titles…nor should Indiana. Can’t have it both ways.

It’ll die off (pun intended) eventually though because neither IU basketball have won anything of significance since the late 1980s.

So, IF the Ohio State/Michigan game was played in September and Ohio State/Penn State was in November, it’d be different? Penn State also was gifted a pick six in that game which put them up 10-0. Head to head HAS to matter more so than any other metric when all things are considered. Last year, FSU was outraged that Bama got in over them but the Rose Bowl proved the committee right as they gave Michigan a better game than anyone else on their schedule.

Question as I have not played close attention. What has the committee said about seeding in terms of how it relates to potential rematches? Will they switch the dominoes around to prevent IU/OSU, Bama/Tennesee, etc part 2? Penn State showed well for themselves last night and shouldn’t be punished for playing an extra game but can the committee, with a straight face, keep them in front of OSU? OSU won the head to head and showed better against Oregon IN Eugene. Also, what’s the difference between SMU and Indiana? Seems like similar resumes to me. Why is Indiana seeming like a lock, despite not playing in its conference title game, whereas SMU’s inclusion is in doubt?

No doubt. Not sure if this is a knee jerk reaction, but one thing is for sure after watching those games yesterday… I like Notre Dame chances more and more. If James Franklin can put 37 points on that Oregon defense with a week to prepare, they are far from unbeatable. A lot of question marks for almost every team.

JonAnthony Hall is the best athlete in the state. Mark Zackery is the best football player in the state. Gotta be one of those two.
