Temp’s Top 25 (Week 8)

Don’t tell others about my “Indy bias.” -
What a great day for the sport yesterday. Overtimes and down to the wire finishes in nearly every time slot… Then, this… https://collegefootballnetwork.com/dan-lanning-intentionally-run-12th-man-vs-ohio-state/ Genius if true.

Temp’s Top 25 (Week 8)
temptation replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
To be fair, even though it was game 1, Snider played Warren better than Warsaw, LC, Carmel, and North Central did. I think Snider is likely 4-4 with BD’s current schedule. Carroll crushed Snider and has been pretty solid outside of their blowout loss to HSE. They played CG BETTER than BD did IN GREENWOOD. Give the Chargers BD’s schedule and they are somewhere around 4-4/5-3. As for Mishawaka, I think the gap is fairly significant to them. They don’t win more than 2-3 games against BD’s schedule in my opinion. And I’d like to stay that these numbers may be inflated a bit due to the fact that I’m viewing these matchups in a vacuum as opposed to cumulatively as we know the wear and tear of a MIC/HCC schedule takes its toll. I see what everyone is saying, but I always go back to the same line which is I have to reward teams that win. I’m not just going to shuffle around the same 6A teams that are hovering around .500. That’s not how it works. -

I see what you are saying but I’d take New Pal +10 against BD… -
29 points better?
-
That’s not what you said… Now for the important question…will they be printing “Champions of the North” shirts once again?
-
“You saw it here first….Crown Point will win 6A this year!” You can’t come out of the gate with this proclamation and then start whining and claiming folks on here are biased in some way because they challenge you. In just a couple of hours you’ve already backtracked from a guarantee to “whoever plays them is in for a four quarter fight” lol.

I can name a at least a half dozen teams within 25 miles of Monument Circle that can equal or better that offer list. Please stop with the fake disrespect.

It’s no fault of Crown Point’s whatsoever that I am leery of their ability to pull it off. It’s an annual October GID tradition on here where a poster (or multiple posters) throw common sense and history to the wind and claim that “Insert non-Indy 6A north team here” is being disrespected and should actually be FAVORED against the best 6A team from the south. If you go back and check my posting history, I have been adamant that I want parity in the 6A class and would love to see a non-Indy team pull it off, but I need to see it to believe it. Hell, being competitive would actually be a good start. CP has some next level talent, maybe even enough to keep up with the teams mentioned frequently on this forum. The difference is usually the fact that the Indy teams have MORE, along with the depth necessary to wear the other team out. Crown Point plays a schedule that is currently outside of the top 50…you can’t blame me (and I’m not the only one who has pause, yet you chose to target me in your “manifesto”). Serious question here. You mentioned the difficulty with CP playing teams from Indianapolis, but Chicago is right around the corner. Have they not tried or are there no teams from the Windy City and it’s suburbs available?

“Even with a weaker schedule, CP only lost to Ben Davis by 28 points in the State Championship last year.” LOFL.

How many times do I have to rehash the Warren/BD game from last year? -
Can I point something out however? (And by no means am I attempting to paint this as a fact…) Taking the IMG game out of the equation last year, BD won its regular season games by an average of 30.1 points per game. So far in 2024 (with two shortened games due to weather I mind you) LN has won its 8 games by an average of 27.3 points per game. Maybe we are underestimating Lawrence North in this comparison?
-
Yeah, you conveniently left out what happened the week after they beat Westfield. You claimed they are the team to beat. Getting to state doesn’t count. Likely looking at a Penn, Carroll, Westfield path with the big dogs from the south (albeit no BD from 2023) waiting again should they get there.

Can’t disagree on your schedule strength argument and I know this is an exercise in futility but Brownsburg has now “escaped” what turned out to be fraudulent teams in Noblesville and Fishers whereas LN has been in firm control of every game in which it has taken the field. I know that margin of victory is often criticized when comparing teams but I don’t think it can be ignored either. In fact, (and I don’t have the stats in front of me) I’m not sure LN has trailed AT ALL at any point in a game this season. As for your other point, it also has some truth to it but head to head sorta becomes one of many data points the later we get into the season. I mean, there are countless examples of teams in this poll that have an out of body experience (in either direction) one week and return to the norm the following. -

Oh, zero doubt SOS matters but when presented with opportunities against the best teams on your schedule you have to show up and win some of those games. Its the reason this poll is usually reserved for 4A, 5A and 6A teams with the occasional 3A team sprinkled in. -

Me too. But winning games matters. New Pal has been doing it with ease, HSE hasn’t. Now that could all change next Friday night as the Royals have a tremendous opportunity in front of them. I mean, Ben Davis is 3-5, which is clearly undeserving of being ranked in the top 25 but if you ask me to match up the Giants against any of the teams ranked 8-25, I am probably taking them 50+% of the time. -

Love statewide representation on this site. Hope you’re right. You’d become an instant legend on this forum, instead of just the most recent prophet stating that the Indy area 6A run comes to an end THIS year. Happens every October. The earliest we will be able to find out if this post has some legitimacy is seeing how easily CP can dispatch of the winner of Sectional 2 in the regional round. If that’s a tight game in the fourth quarter. I’m afraid I have bad news for you.

Temp’s Top 25 (Week 8)

The irony and amount of “self own” than an LN (MIC) 6A state title would provide to my HCC narrative would be nearly impossible to recover from. A fifth MIC (original 8) school grabbing a 6A state title before an HCC team breaks through would be rich as hell. -
Temp’s Top 25 (Week 8)

Nope, but I will say I have East Noble on my “first five out” list. As far as New Pal, I’m just gonna continue to believe and reward winning, especially comfortably. After FC beat HSE last night, that turned teams after the top 7 upside down. Can’t put Carroll ahead of HSE. Gotta drop the Royals somewhere. New Pal and Chatard are beneficiary. -
Cathedral is definitely capable of upending this whole thing and beating LN and I’d actually argue they may actually be the closest to LN in the speed department. The obvious great unknown to me is Crown Point. Are they better than last year? I think we can all agree that there is not a team in 2024 that compares to last year’s BD team and despite being labeled as an “Indy guy” think it would be amazing to see them pull it off.

And the CG final score looks closer than it actually was. -
So you have FIVE teams in it to win it?
