Major league attendance this season....6 of the bottom 10 teams are American League teams. Teams that have had the DH in place for a long time. Should I believe that the Dodgers, Cards, Braves and Padres attendance is due to the DH? So...Clemson isn't a blue blood, but Duke became a blue blood the moment Coach K took over the program?......even though it took 11 seasons to win his first title. He was 85-65 over his first 5 years. I am not debating they aren't a blue blood program....I am simply saying it took a few years of sustained excellence to become a blue blood.....but not your 40-50 year timeframe criteria. If you would have read the links, you would have seen where others disagree with you about Clemson. But they had different criteria than a half century timeframe, in which I included. BTW, I never said a decade....I just don't believe it has to be 40-50 years. And if we use your criteria, there are example of teams considered blue bloods that were dominant in the earlier period of those 50 years, that are certainly not dominant today. The authors that believe there are only 8 blue bloods list Nebraska, USC and Michigan in that list. Based on their performance over the past 10-20 years, I struggle with calling those blue blood programs any longer. Good discussion....I was just trying to understand your comment about 40-50 years of sustained excellence to be considered a blue blood.

Just curious as to why it takes a half century of sustained top performance to be considered a blue blood. I understand an extended period...but 40-50 years?? Coach K was there 40 years....but his Duke program was nowhere near a blue blood program during his first decade. So even if a blue blood for 3 decades, he doesn't meet your 40-50 years criteria. BTW, regarding Clemson, and many other programs....I guess it boils down to who is defining blood bloods. I look at the articles that define 8 schools as blue bloods and one could argue that based on the last 2 decades, they should be falling off. Based on that definition, Duke would not be a blue blood in college basketball.........nor would Clemson be considered in college football. 2 decades is not enough???

Its commonly called "Frack" at CG. Coach Moore has won state titles in both football and track. Guessing that puts him on a very short list. Has coached a number of individual state champions in track, some going on to have nice careers at the next level.

No confusion here....and my comments to you supported comments made in the past about a fit for the Colts. Simply clarifying my previous comments and I stand behind them. I hope and believe Bell will succeed....but there are questions. Not sure why you continue mislabeling my identify....now that's confusion.

Because QB's and WR's are the same???? They need the same attributes? I didn't question if Bell would be successful. I questioned if the Colts need 2 of the same type of possession receivers, with Pittman already on the roster. If Campbell can stay healthy and with his speed, keep the field spread, it will make a possession receiver even better, and open up lanes for the TE's, and make life easier for Taylor when he cracks the 2nd layer. But if the safeties have no fear of speed...they will come up and shrink the field. That was my point about speed at the WR position. The NFL is not Big 10 football. Bell ran a 4.65 40 in the combine...that is an eye opener for ANY WR. Hopefully it was a bad day, and perhaps that will allow him to slip down to the Colts in the 2nd round. Doesn't mean he won't be successful in the NFL. Simply about diversity needed at the WR position.

Actually, I really didn't have any feelings about the source listed....just simply pointing out that the sad news was everywhere. A young man with a beautiful wife and guessing a wonderful family tragically lost his life....with his whole life ahead of him. I think we as father's on this forum can feel the sadness in a young person's life that is suddenly lost. I need to do a better job personally empathizing with all young lives lost when I read it in the paper or hear the story on the news. All of us love football, especially high school football on this forum. I just hope all of us remember what is important, and that we have much more in common than we do different. And so what if we see the world differently....makes it far less boring. Please call me out when I forget this......

I am the observer that hopes OSU and Michigan beat each other senseless to a 0-0 tie. When both teams play, its a Joe Dirt mullet convention.....

I do have to wonder....has Michigan scheduled FCS games since their loss to App State back in the day? (before App State became FBS) I am glad that FBS teams do schedule some games against FCS opponents...it gives the FCS kids an experience playing at the "big time" while also giving them some additional exposure. NFL rosters have quite a few players from FCS schools. To be honest, I am not sure the benefit for a FBS school to do this, other than to perhaps rest some players and get some non-regulars playing time. They write a nice check to the FCS school, may get less fans in the stands for the game, and if they are upset or played closely, its a big negative for them.
