Classic...I believe to be the best combined fight songs in college sports.

I think people keep forgetting that a major reason the wheels fell off and Indiana last season was the loss of their first 2 QB's and then going with an inexperienced RS frosh. Who in their right mind would think that last year with that happening would be a banner year? They didn't have the depth to absorb that kind of hit. I don't have high expectations this season, but with more depth at QB with the Mizzou transfer and others coming off injury (i.e., Mullen) it should be a tad more interesting this season. I just hope they can develop and improve at offensive line.

And no one is attacking DT personally. Just didn’t agree with his position. Kind of what you are talking about. Piece of advice…just because you can get in the fray, doesn’t mean you should. DT is a grown man. He can handle the discussion without your rush to defend him. These posts are nothing compared to many “conversations” on this board with others. I’m a DT fan…just not agreeing with his comments this time. Watching from the stands sometimes isn’t a bad thing. Great learning opportunity.

Be honest…you have a bias against Allen and IU. You find one opinion with zero basis and run with it. And when you do, you leave out the other school mentioned for conference elimination, which happens to be the other state Big 10 school. The same school you’ve been high on their recent recruiting. It’s you prerogative to post what you wish….just accept that not everyone is always going to buy it.

LOL....don't think I need to obtain your or anyone else to post, do I? I believe I was pretty clear about one man's opinion. I asked DT for his source for his comment below, and he finally provided it. DT conveniently left Purdue out of the same opinion quote from Dodd. I pointed that out. Look, we get it...you are a DT fan as am I...but that doesn't mean we can't challenge each other. I certainly don't need your blessing to post ANYTHING. Again, stay in your lane...DT is a big boy and he can fend for himself. You can always contact a moderator or simply put me on block.

I know you omitted them purposely. Called sarcasm. Nice media touch. Its an opinion, with no credible research or source to back it up. It’s called hot air. And it’s called challenging on a forum. Something you do constantly. DT doesn’t need you to enter the fray. Stay in your lane.

Well, one guy from CBS renders an opinion near the end of an article, it must be true, right? BTW, you failed to mention he listed both IU AND Purdue. Both schools aren’t going anywhere.
-
no darn different that you alleging IU is being asked to leave the conference and not providing a source, let alone a credible source. Bad look for you

Would love read the comments by your source....please provide. IU holds their own in the Big 10 and overall NCAA with their overall sports program.... https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2021/6/3/general-iu-athletics-in-14th-place-in-learfield-img-college-directors-cup-standings-after-fall-winter-sports-seasons.aspx

As the travel increases for teams to compete, do we foresee a future in which a number of lower $$ generating sports could either be dropped or regionalized? For example, SEC does not have wrestling. Oklahoma will be forced to become an independent or join another conference for wrestling. Missouri a few years ago when they joined the SEC, had their wrestling team compete in the MAC. Their wrestling program is now a member of the Big 12 conference again as they used to be prior to their SEC membership. Even the Big 12 wrestling conference is a mixture of Big 12 and non-Big 12 schools as affliate members. (Missouri, Air Force, Wyoming, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, etc.) I just find it hard to believe that some of the lower generating sports will travel from coast to coast to compete, and during the weeknights.

Kansas is indeed a member of the Association of American Universities. There is criteria that must be met to maintain membership. I agree about the sports.... I would think there are more attractive targets such as Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Stanford and UC Berkeley. (academics, larger markets and more comprehensive sports programs)

I would have thought so as well, but I noticed when the ACC just announced its doing away from divisions in football, they named each schools partner schools they would play annually. ND was not included. I realize they could change this quickly. I thought the Big 10 said no to ND a few years back over ND's refusal to give up their NBC contract. Does that seem accurate? I am thinking ND may no longer hold the cards and I am reading speculation about ND and the Big 10 in the media.....

I guess it depends on how important the Association of American Universities is to the Big 10. Both USC and UCLA has it. The only school in the Big 10 that currently does not possess it is Nebraska, and they lost their after joining the Big 10. My understanding is that there is pressure for them to get it back. After Texas and Oklahoma joined the SEC, only Kansas from the Big 12 has the membership. So I guess it depends on the importance. With the Big 10 announcement yesterday about USC and UCLA, this association was certainly included. Washington and Oregon are both members.....so is Stanford and Berkeley...both in major metro areas. https://www.si.com/college/northwestern/football/what-the-association-of-american-universities-has-to-do-with-big-ten-expansion https://www.aau.edu/who-we-are/our-members

ACC Gets Rid of Their Divisions for Football
Bash Riprock replied to Bash Riprock's topic in The Next Level
I understand that Bama had a loss going in, but they were the better team that day and proved it. I am not so sure UGA wins the title game if Bama didn't lose their top 2 receivers. They lost 2 big time playmakers. That is tough to overcome. Injuries are part of the game as we all know....but I don't put much into one HAD to win and the other WANTED to win. A SEC title was at stake and that meant the world to both teams. Every game was important to win to make it to their championship game. Bottom line, had UGA and Bama been in the same division, the conference and most likely national championship matchup never occurs. -

Maybe I am missing something. SEC had division format and was fortunate to have 1 vs 2 in different divisions. UGA had been pounding everyone, including blasting GA Tech 45-0 prior to the SEC Title game. Bama meanwhile has a couple of tough games prior to the SEC title game to include Arkansas and a 2 pt OT win in the Iron Bowl. Nobody was laying down. Bama just took it to them and won the SEC title. But both teams wanted it. Bama has some key injuries, UGA learns from their previous matchup and turns the table in the national title game. What I like about getting rid of divisions is the fact that the 2 best teams may be in the same division, yet one was eliminated prior making some of the championship games a yawner. The new format should hopefully increase the chance of the 2 best teams slugging it out in the conference title game. -

If the SEC can figure it out, so can the Big 10. Bama/Auburn, GA/FL, etc are just as big games. Soon add Texas/Oklahoma to the list. They will figure out how to keep those rivalries going along with the cash it will generate. Where there is a will, there is a way. Anything is better than the lopsided divisions they have now. -

I agree with you. I didn't realize until reading the article that the PAC 12 and American conferences already did away with divisions. According to the article, the SEC was also planning to do the same. I think it would make the Big 10 much more interesting. I don't think so....if the Big 10 follows the ACC model, just ensure Michigan and Ohio State are partners. Personally, I'd love to see Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State as partners so they could beat the snot out of each other annually. -
This is interesting....thoughts? Do you see other conferences following suit? How will ND now factor into the ACC? I don't see ND considered as a primary partner to any of the schools. (see bottom of the article for partner schools) https://www.tomahawknation.com/florida-state-football-fsu-seminoles/2022/6/28/23186485/acc-announces-new-football-scheduling-model-starting-2023-syracuse-miami-clemson-yearly-schedule A new way of scheduling conference football games is coming to the Atlantic Coast Conference. Floated as a possibility the minute that the NCAA stopped requiring divisions to determine conference championship game participants, the ACC made the move official on Tuesday, announcing a new scheduling plan that begins in 2023. The new structure not only allows for more frequent scheduling of opponents, but also allows the ACC to possibly produce an exciting championship game, one that has never particularly caught on as marquee event, either due to low-profile names or blowouts. Overall, it should help inject some life into a conference that has seen an overall decline, with its falloff in 2021 exposing the rot in the floorboards. The conference went 2-6 in bowl games, had only 4 teams win more than 7 games, and was 6-16 against in non-conference matchups.

Whats Up With "Wolves" as the Hot New Nickname

I think the Hoopeston Area High School in Illinois was pretty creative..... https://www.commercial-news.com/sports/cornjerkers-bounce-back-to-beat-irish-snapping-17-game-losing-skid/article_97174896-0c7d-11ec-aa69-b7004b1197c2.html
