  1. Yeah, it's odd. Sectional 17 is a six-team bracket and Sectional 18 is an eight-team bracket. Had heard that they would split them evenly, seven and seven, bringing KV back west. Not sure when this was changed.
  2. Normal practice - I don't think so - but... greener pastures and whatnot. One could speculate that perhaps he arrived and realized what he was up against. Could be that it just wasn't a good fit for his family. Could be... the list goes on and on. We'll focus on the positive that is bringing a young, promising coach into Da Region. I remember a somewhat similar hire/resign that occurred at Valpo not too long ago, and that seemed to work out for them.
  3. After taking a head coaching position at Niles High School earlier this spring, Elkhart assistant, Cody French, is the new HC at Calumet. Best of luck to him and his staff! https://www.nwitimes.com/sports/high-school/cody-french-tabbed-as-next-calumet-coach/article_01a22ded-718a-52e2-8bb0-9c7020a4eca3.html#tncms-source=login
  4. Is Andrean expected to make a tournament run? Other than Bowen, what do they have coming back? Lost some studs in their WRs, RB, QB. Is this season a rebuild or reload?
  5. So Morton, though consolidating with Gavit, will remain in 4A? It'll just be a superpower for the year, before making its way to 5A in 2022? And Hammond High, though consolidating with Clark, will remain in 3A as the new Hammond Central? Have a hard time believing that. Too, this would leave both sectionals as seven-team brackets, correct?
  6. Losing three teams from 4A Sectional 17, Morton, Gavit, and Griffith (3A enrollment), there will be some new faces heading west into Da Region. Kankakee Valley perhaps? New Prairie, SB St. Joseph, Logansport, Culver Academies?
  7. Assuming Merrillville in 5A with enrollment, one figures Sectional 9 looks like: Merrilville, Munster, Morton, Hammond Central Gavit and Morton into 5A as the NEW Morton High. Clark and Hammond High into 5A as the NEW Hammond Central. Sectional 10 would then be: LaPorte, Michigan City, Valparaiso, Mishwaka??? Lots and lots of teams staying east this season.
  8. Ask and you shall receive. A clear distinction in last night's headline: Former Hobart High School Assistant Football Coach Investigated Over Claims Of Inappropriate Conduct HOBART, Ind. (CBS) — A former assistant football coach in Northwest Indiana was facing serious accusations Wednesday night. Police said they are investigating claims of inappropriate communication between the former coach at Hobart High School and one or more student athletes. The investigation is to determine if anything criminal occurred. There were no charges late Wednesday. Therefore, we are not identifying the person involved.
  9. Sounds like a Swiss Army knife! Perhaps the powers that be wanted him on the team for sheer athleticism. Knew he'd help in some way or another?
  10. I've always found it interesting that Player X can represent the North in the state championship but plays for the South in the ASG.
  11. Apologies, just went off of surnames I recognized from following local football media.
  12. After a quick glance at the State Series bracket... Jamaal Salary, LaPorte @ 160lbs (RB) Aiden Sneed, Kankakee Valley @ 170lbs (LB) Jacob Simpson, Hobart @ 170lbs (State Finals LB) Colin Kwiatkowski, Valparaiso @ 182lbs (Semistate LB) Eli Pack, Culver Academy @ 195lbs (FB) Gage DeMarco, Chesterton @ 195lbs (LB) Jason Streck, Merrillville @ 220lbs (Semistate TE/H) Hunter Whitenack, New Prairie @ HWT (OL) Not sure if Simpson does anything in the spring, but does anyone know of individuals who qualified for the state series in all three athletic seasons?
  13. Leave it at the offers. Nothing more need be said. The accrual of a Marian, Notre Dame, Ball State, and Bowling Green commit certainly helps one's chances. Not to mention the addition of a 6'4 WR and a 215 pound RB, each with their own offers.
  14. To my understanding, Lake County is currently red, restricting tickets to immediate family members only.
