  1. Interesting. Our managers launder our stuff. They're too valuable to allow a mom to wash a new red sweatshirt with a road white jersey and inadvertently create a pink jersey...
  2. Because those standards for performance and behavior are generally what are required for success in any post-secondary endeavor, whether it be the workforce, military, or further academic pursuits. In most cases having such a standard that is known by parents and students going in can be a component of the tide that helps raise all boats, but it isn't always the case. We sometimes have parents / students who choose to leave our school when faced with enforcement of the standards elect to take safe harbor where lower standards are accepted.
  3. That was the insinuation. There is not 1 p/p school in Indiana that keeps numbers at a given level to stay in a particular class for athletics...
  4. We will play wherever the IHSAA puts us (obviously), but as a fan, our 4A Sectional 24 is boring because all but 2 teams are regular season opponents. It was fun to see a team the caliber of EC the past few years, and we very very lucky to have snuck one past them, but I suspect most years it would end the way it did this year. Being in 3A and rekindling post-season rivalries with GS and HH will be so much more fun.
  5. That excerpt came from the 2023-2024 By-laws. I am embarrassed to say I was not aware of the change.
  6. And I would not dispute that our percentages are lower than at a public school, but I bet they are higher than what you think they are. I can't speak for every p/p, but our student population has gotten much more diverse over the past 10 years, which to me is a good thing for many reasons.
  7. I swear to God I thought it was state law that less than 2 points drops back, 2 - 5 points stays put, and 6 or more gets bumped.
  8. OK, did the IHSAA change the Success Factor rules so that a team who had been bumped and only accrued 2 points or less now goes down to the next lower class? If so, that would mean Ev. Memorial comes back down to 3A for 2024.
  9. There just isn't 300 kids beating down the door to get in. In fact, until this year, our enrollment was dropping annually, despite having a 7-8 year period of fairly good athletic success (football, boys & girls soccer titles). Our enrollment is dictated largely by that of our feeder schools. They are starting to go up, so our enrollment will go up. But it will never get to 850 or 900 (but not by choice). The highest ever was 2011 at 815.
  10. It would be a dream for us if our enrollment put our facilities at capacity (850-900). We have a lot of room to spare.
  11. Find me a p/p that "restricts" enrollment. I'll wait.
  12. I'm not so arrogant to ever presume or say we have anything figured out. In fact, I often have far more questions than answers. I would be interested in knowing what had you in the hallowed halls of 1500 Lincoln Ave so as to be able to make a comparison between Memorial and Southridge? Our students wear uniforms (including ties for boys), so the populations will look much different. But aside from that, I will agree with you 100% that the expectations for success in all aspects of the high school experience at a p/p school are very high, and there is likely a significant amount of students in most public schools whose parents do not have that same expectation. I have great respect for Titan32, but his "effective enrollment" theory is flawed. First, the timing has always intrigued me. We never heard about "effective enrollment" when GS was beating Memorial 3 straight years in football Sectionals from 2012-2014. It was only when Memorial beat GS 3 straight years from 2016-2018 that the theory first came to light. Second, at one time the theory was that MD (500 students) had an effective enrollment similar to GS (700) students. Yet, Memorial (550 students) had an effective enrollment similar to Castle (1950 students). How can that possibly be when MD and Memorial are pretty much identical in nearly every measurable category? I suspect it might be because, with few exceptions, GS generally doesn't face MD in an IHSAA tournament, so it's a comparison that will never be "tested" on a playing field. If Memorial has an effective enrollment similar to Castle, shouldn't we have been able to better compete with an EC team last week (who has 700 less kids than Castle)? We got boat-raced. Why doesn't Chatard dominate in all sports? As I understand it, football is pretty much it for them. Why doesn't MD dominate in boys soccer like they do in wrestling? Why is our girls soccer program so good but our softball program struggles something fierce? Why don't the advantages translate for the p/p schools in those sports?
  13. Besides Rode, who else transferred to Memorial?
  14. Then what do you think it is? Just writing a check like some others?
  15. Not sure when the vote occurs, but giving COY to Brunson with the number of players Reitz has on the all-whatever teams, but still keeping the "No Wins in November" streak alive on the Hill seems a little hollow. I'm biased, but Hurley winning a 7th Sectional in 8 years (4 in 4A with a sub-600 enrollment school) after losing the best QB within 100 miles seems more appropriate to me, but I also realize some folks falsely think all it takes is writing a check...
  16. Not sure how I feel about the coach of a 3-7 team getting COY. In contrast, I fully agree Wagner deserved POY because he did more for his team than any other player. You take him away and Bosse probably doesn't win a game.
  17. There's certainly a very good chance 2 PAC teams will play at Lucas Oil. The bigger question is whether a PAC team will win at Lucas Oil.
  18. We enjoy playing Chatard. Just haven't had the chance since 2018. Maybe we'll get the chance next year.
  19. IHSAA can't read a map? It is what it is, but it will be a game that might get a guy like me from Evansville to drive to Lincoln City in November to see who gets a crack at Chatard at LOS.
  20. Sounded like he had a bucket on his head like Gomer Pyle and you could hear the other PBP team calling for the local channel. Just awful.
