  1. I doubt it. EVSC has always blocked kids going to Memorial and Mater Dei, but maybe that will be resolved by the new IHSAA transfer rule. I know North had a pretty lineman a year or two ago that wanted to transfer to Memorial and the Principal/AD said they would block him and fight the transfer, so he stayed at North.
  2. I'd still take the case. Why don't you contribute to the GID and become a booster before you call the folks who do contribute mean names?
  3. Oh, I'd take that case. Easy money. Gross negligence to not provide water and breaks in extreme heat. But at least the Snyder coaches are tough guys, right?
  4. 5A North losing to 3A Memorial is much different than 3A Mater Dei losing to 5A Castle. Not that any rankings matter. It gives the media something to talk about.
  5. Lots of transfers at Reitz.
  6. We thought about it, but the concern is it may throw off what is already a precarious stability issue.
  7. We have a homemade Sky Cam. The design is loosely based on a bicycle-powered railroad handcar. The problem we've run into the first few weeks is that the cables are attached to the grandstand at Enlow Field, which has a little give, so there is some slack. When the operator gets to pedaling too fast, it tends to bounce and flip upside down. With effort, he can get himself flipped back over (similar to a turtle). Despite typical parochial volunteer pay ($25 per game and dispensation from Sunday mass that week), we've had trouble keeping the position filled. On the bright side, we have some phenomenal shots of the Big Dipper.
  8. Not that it matters to this forum, but is SR seeing any benefit / higher participation numbers in soccer? It seems Jasper's soccer program has benefited somewhat by a few Latino players in recent years.
  9. How many years since SR started 1-4? The L to Boonville shocked me this past week... and also cost me in the 812 Hoops Pigskin Pick 'em contest...
  10. Well, "that's they way we've always done it" has always been an effective strategy, right?
  11. Jasper, Castle and Vincennes Lincoln will win by whatever margin they want. MD/Memorial will be a close one, but RB Kendrick will be the difference so give me the Tigers by 7 in a 24-17 final. I could see Reitz bouncing back and nipping North unless the Huskies have success on the ground bc they just aren't a good passing team. Give me Reitz in a 28-27 squeaker.
  12. #Discipline starts at the top.
  13. Me neither. I tried to find a livestream or replay but didn't. I thought I saw that Reitz lost their RB in Wk. 2? Not entirely sure. They didn't adopt the #Discipline for nothing...
  14. The weather is the MVP at this point. I'm pretty pleased with the Tigers so far. D looks solid (very strong in secondary). Brown has looked good at QB the first few weeks and isn't trying to do too much and has lot of weapons at the skill positions. The Jasper W in Wk. 1 is probably looking better at this point than I thought at the time. Beating Reitz was big for the JCats. North is a good team, but really struggled trying to throw the ball against us when they got down. Not sure what to make of Castle or Vincennes Lincoln yet. As expected, Bosse, Harrison and Central are just not good. Central may be a little better, but not much. If we can handle business against MD, we'll get a little two week break to ramp up for the finishing stretch of Reitz, VL and Castle - with 2 of the 3 on the road. This is a big game this week. Should be a fun one at Enlow. Tigers going for 10 in a row against the Wildcats and there should be a big crowd.
  15. @AW0352 From the PAC Wk. 1 thread re adding teams and splitting into divisions... I would love to see a 12 school SIAC conference for several reasons. The biggest being taking away EVSC control of having 5 of the 9 schools. The best 3 fits would be HH, GS and Boonville IMO. I think most SIAC schools play those 3 in almost every sort except football as is.
  16. Our production is not student run to my knowledge and I believe it will be free. We definitely save the costs of paying to have it done by doing it in-house. I listened to a couple of your games last year. You both did a ice job.
  17. I think most teams are pretty vanilla for the scrimmage. We didn't run anything our 7th grade team can't run. As for Castle, to me it was more execution. Just didn't seem up to the usual standard. I have no doubt Castle will be a challenge in the SIAC for anyone.
  18. LOL, you sure have a thing for the SIAC... I agree 100% that some rivalries are good for the community even if the game is not highly competitive (GS/Princeton is an example). Truth is, almost every conference (including the mighty SIAC) has weak teams - ours are Bosse/Harrison/Central (in recent years). Keep in mind that HH played a very strong LCA team last year that no doubt gave them the competition they needed to supplement the weak PAC teams like Princeton/Washington/North Posey/South Spencer from the PAC. Going to two divisions really was a smart move by the PAC. I sure wish the SIAC would do it, but I'm told it is a non-starter. It also may have situated VL to be in a more competitive spot. BTW, you doing radio broadcast or the stream? Well done, HHPatriots. You really set the bar high for game previews.
  19. Personally, I'd rather not be in the poll altogether...
  20. Lots of forward passing from what I understand. New era for the JCats.
  21. IMO there are only two intriguing games in Wk. 1... MD, Reitz & Lincoln all win big in running clock games. Central, Harrison and Bosse will again be at the bottom of the standings (in that order). The other two games seem to be toss-ups. Castle did not impress me much in the scrimmage against Memorial Friday. I expect North will come out with some juice in Coach Nero's first game mushing the sled. I'll take the Knights by 3 based on home field and a QB that has a few seasons under his belt. Memorial & Jasper is always close. Last year's running clock W for Memorial was an anomaly. I would anticipate Jasper having some hiccups running their spread for the first time against a D that has a specific game plan. While Memorial looked better than what I expected Friday, I also expect some Wk. 1 jitters. Memorial's RB could be the difference. I'll take the Tigers by 7 before what should be a big Enlow crowd.
  22. No mention of Sectional 32. Don't you remember that the state line is Bloomington?
  23. Maybe stat-wise, but neither of the GS/HH games were close after the half. In contrast, in the sectional final it was 21-21 with under 3 to go in the third. We screwed the pooch by giving up a long KO return and tacking on a face-mask that gave HH great field position.
  24. HH is head and shoulders above anyone else and a clear #1. I think 2-4 are pretty much interchangeable. I'm fine giving the nod to GS as #2 bc they probably have the most pieces returning. It will be interesting to see if GS is any more competitive against HH this year than they were last year.
