I think I would argue Reitz, which is fairly comparable in facilities, has the Bowl, better tradition & fan support and has the added advantage of being the "favorite football child" of the EVSC AD. North being so far away from a large percentage of students can make it tough for off season stuff (from what I hear). No question North would be my #2 in the EVSC though. The other 3 really struggle.

They can. The program has been expanded pretty significantly in recent years. A family of 4 with income less than $230,880 is eligible. My fellow p/p supporters may not agree, but I personally think that is too high. If you follow this sort of thing, there is a whale of a fight about vouchers going on in TN as we speak.

Aw heck, the visiting team getting taunted and jeered at by the home fans going in and coming out of the locker room is half the fun of playing on the road! That happens everywhere. What I enjoy is fans standing and sitting around the field 10 feet away from the action.

Most of the kids (athletes and non-athletes alike) who transfer into our school are generally looking for more discipline, accountability, academic rigor, etc. than what they experienced in their former school. And most of the kids who leave are generally looking for less of the same things.

I'm all for this bill. I'd support a bill that stripped the IHSAA of all power except to run tournaments.

Your judgment about what is best for that kid is not better than his/her parent(s) judgment. That is the problem with the IHSAA sticking its nose into eligibility.

Q - How do you know if the turd was recruited? Is that a box that gets checked? Q2 - If the sending and receiving school both sign off that the move wasn't athletically motivated, but the IHSAA still imposes limited eligibility, is that kid a turd?

Curious, who are the "turds" and who are the "honest folks" in your opinion?

The IHSAA is pretty good at running the post-season tournaments, so why don't we limit their role to that and leave the decisions about what is best for any given student-athlete to that kid's parent(s)?

Indpls. Scecina did it a number of years ago, but I am not aware of anyone doing it recently in football. Mater Dei competes in 4A in team wrestling even though they are a 2A school (or maybe 3A, I'm not entirely sure on that).

I wonder if Cathedral will elect to stay in 6A. That is always an option...

Yep, pretty much been to every Memorial game (home and away) since 1994. Don't recall any VL fans ever sitting on our side. That probably wouldn't make the top 5 of things I've seen in those 30 years though. I'm sure we all could make a list.

I don't think any school is "knucklehead" free (including my own school). I don't recall VL fans being particularly worse than anyone else.

I don't see that being implied at all. Jasper has lots of athletes in that building, just not all of them played football. Or so I was told.
