  1. Until this week he was needed more at D End. Now he'll be needed at D End and RB. Great opportunity for him.
  2. Memorial won't win by 41... It will be a dogfight.. MD will give the JCats a scare...
  3. LOL. Gotta keep an eye on those GS guys...
  4. Which is, of course, the opposite of In Sync, which is why the Patriots said "Bye, Bye, Bye".
  5. Vera has to be the clear front-runner, with Wagner having a small outside shot. Harris is a great player too, but doesn't stand out like Vera. Memorial's best player has been Broshears, but no D player is ever going to get that kind of award.
  6. I agree. VL is tough at home. Can Hunt give Castle problems like Wagner did in Wk. 3? MD is getting better every week so I think they will give Jasper a run for their money. Reitz can pick the score against Central. Memorial should be able to take of their business against Harrison, but injuries could be an issue. It would not surprise me to see Bosse give North some problems, but the Bulldogs just give up too many points (50+/game in their 3 Ls) to beat most teams.
  7. I can only speak to the game I saw, which was against us on the Wk. 2 night when it was blistering hot. I thought our kids out-toughed North across the board. With the size and experience advantage North had against us up front, I really was expecting them to pound the ball against us, but they only had a little over 100 yards. The glaring issue I saw when they did not have success running the ball was a lack of a passing game (60yds total). North has 5 winnable games left, but each of the next 4 could be battles too (Bosse, MD, VL, Jasper). No matter what happens, the Sectional should be wide open..
  8. A few injuries for Memorial will make the Harrison game closer than most might expect. Tiger D is their strength at this point.
  9. I predict with 2 or 3 wins in regular season MD wins Sectional 40.
  10. Did you read the snippet I posted from a judge's decision overruling the IHSAA? He talks about the inherent unfairness of the IHSAA review process. I can't post every case I've read as part of helping representing a kid in one of these cases, and if I did it wouldn't change your mind anyway. We can just agree to disagree and hope our child or grandchild isn't one of the ones who gets screwed like Indiana Creek and the IHSAA screwed this young man.
  11. LOL. I say its on you. Here is where you can start: https://public.courts.in.gov/Portal/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=https%3a%2f%2fpublic.courts.in.gov%2fmycase%2f#/SCP Do a party search for Indiana High School Athletic Association.
  12. The IHSAA has a two step process. The first step is a decision as to whether the student has full, limited or no eligibility. That is based on the forms provided by the school to the IHSAA. If the student does not agree with the IHSAA eligibility decision, they can have the initial decision reviewed by the IHSAA Review Committee. If they do not agree with that decision, they can have it review by the DOE Case review Panel. After that they have to file in the court system. This snippet from a Court decision describes the IHSAA internal review process:
  13. The only decisions the IHSAA really has to "rule on" are the ones were there is a dispute. I don't give the IHSAA credit for "fair treatment" in the 92% of the cases where both schools signed off and the IHSAA simply rubber stamps its approval. The point of the discussion is that when the IHSAA does have to make a decision (ie. one school doesn't release a student), the IHSAA usually comes down against the student and sides with the non-releasing school and the appeal / review process is weighted heavily against the kid. Have you read the Court cases? You can find them online if you look.
  14. No corporation administrator would talk to any reporter. The first thing an administrator would be told by a competent attorney is "do not make any public comments." It isn't rocket science. It has nothing to do with Doyle. The key facts in this case are undisputed: (1) assistant coach texts 15 year student; (2) parents get restraining order; (3) player transfers and wanted to play football his senior season; (4) Indian Creek refused to release player; and (5) IHSAA and CRP inexplicably side with school and screw student. It doesn't matter if Neddenriep wrote the article or Doyle. The point of the article that that once again the IHSAA chooses school over student.
  15. In previous articles, Doyle cites CRP / court decisions where these kinds of findings have been made. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg-doyel/2021/02/23/ihsaa-transfer-process-under-fire-claims-bullying-being-unprofessional-indiana-eligibility-review/6751342002/ You may consider Doyle to be a "hack" but he's read transcripts of IHSAA appeal and CRP hearings. Have you?
  16. I get it. The IHSAA is an association made up of member schools (who have no alternative association to choose from), yet the IHSAA's "mission", promos and marketing would lead one to conclude they are there for the kids.
  17. Its crazy. The IHSAA's starting point should always be a presumption in favor of the student having eligibility and forcing the objecting to school to overcome the presumption, but it seems they take the opposite approach. Worse yet, it is well-documented that the IHSAA administrators (ie. Paul Neidig) frequently engage in bullying tactics toward the student and parents in the appeal hearings. And by prohibiting an attorney for the student being present in the hearings, the IHSAA gets away with it.
  18. If the texting assistant was HC's buddy, maybe HC engaged this strange behavior to retaliate for the parents having obtained the restraining order. It isn't a far-fetched idea.
  19. Therein lies part of the problem. Down here, where the student wants to transfer in large part dictates whether there will be a "release" or not. EVSC to EVSC is always allowed. EVSC to a parochial school? Generally no. If there is no "release" then the family is forced into the IHSAA process, which is heavily stacked against them. Administrators, teachers, and coaches can all move from one school to another without any obstacles. Why not students?
  20. I think that's maybe the point. There shouldn't be "low hanging fruit" like this (and the other instances) when we're dealing with teenage kids. The IHSAA isn't protecting the integrity of HS sports in these kinds of situations. The IHSAA screwing over 1 kid is 1 kids too many. Hack or not, Doyle shouldn't have to write these stories. But he writes them to point out the hypocrisy of the IHSAA. Guess where the IHSAA June Executive Committee meeting was? North Meridian Street? No, West Baden Springs. Who generated the money to pay for a meeting in such a lovely (and pricy) locale? That's right - the student athletes.
  21. 100%. Listening to Coach Hurley last night on the coach's show podcast there is no question the Wildcats are not being taken lightly. In the last 20 years or so there have only been 3 games decided by more than 30 points: 2018 Memorial 51 -14 2011 MD 47-14 2005 MD 34 - 0
  22. Gregg Doyle has written several articles about various cases in central Indiana. Just in the last couple of years we've had a 4+ cases down here in SW Indiana that went through various stages of the IHSAA / CRP/ court process. You have to realize that few parents want to go public about these cases. By the time they get to the CRP or court system, they have already been through the IHSAA ringer. In the end, I'm sure anyone can speak to the actual number of cases because the IHSAA does not disclose such information. At their regular meetings the IHSAA minutes simply reflect that their attorney updates on pending cases. The DOE CRP website showing "current cases" is here: https://www.in.gov/doe/legal/case-review-panel/ , but I can tell you the case I was involved in where the CRP decision was overturned by the Vanderburgh Circuit Court on 09/01/2022 does not show up, so the website appears to be a year+ behind.
