My Round 1 bracket prediction: HH @ PCHS MD @ SR GS @ VL Mt. V @ EM

Jasper @ North. North surprised me with the win at Lincoln, but I'll take the JCats 21-14. Memorial @ Lincoln. I'm interested to see how Memorial does on real grass. Tigers 34-13. Harrison @ Mater Dei. Harrison is improved, but I don't think they can hang with the Wildcats for 4 quarters. MD 28-13. Reitz @ Bosse. The Bulldogs are in the wrong place at the wrong time. After getting throttled at Enlow last week, Reitz will take out their frustrations on Bosse 49-0. Central @ Castle. I expected a let down from Castle, but not that much. Central is just not good. Knights 42-0.

Sam took great pride in making our football games an experience that fans took part in, not just watched. And he loved our kids and fans. I really enjoyed the time we spent together in the box.

Very sad. Sam was true blue. Another larger than life member of the Memorial family lost. Prayers for Lori and the family.

Sagarin certainly has limitations. It doesn't count out of state opponents and a closed SIAC prohibits the connectivity that is critical. I agree, it's a loose reference. It's why I personally don't have GS ahead of MD. As for us, I would agree this is our best team since 2018 or 2019. The D reminds me of 2019 in that there are no monsters physically, but they fly around and we've created problems for big OL men.

Nobody is worried. We all know the ping pong balls set the bracket. Its just a topic to discuss as we approach tournament time.

Interestingly enough, we finish with our last 2 games on natural grass - at Vincennes Lincoln and at Bosse Field against Castle. We haven't played back to back games on real grass since 2019 when we played at Castle and then at Boonville.

I would agree with you. Winning the last 3 would push Memorial to #1. Their SOS will increase by the end of the regular season, while HH's will likely drop someone given their opponents. HH (and GS for that matter) should be well-rested by Sectionals.

So the IHSAA draw is a week from this Sunday. Whoever comes out of S32 will have the host-site tie breakers in their favor for both Regional and Semi-State. Although the ping pong balls determine the bracket, anyone have any thoughts on what the seeds would be with 2/3 of the regular season over? Using a combo of Sagarin & W/L, right now I would say: #1 Heritage Hills #2 Memorial #3 Mater Dei #4 Gibson Southern #5 Southridge #6 Lincoln #7 Mt. Vernon #8 Princeton

Bosse @ Mater Dei. I'll take MD 48-12, with Bosse's scores to come after the MD call off the dogs, uh.. cats, whatever.. Central @ Harrison. Harrison finally gets off the schneid. Warriors 29-13. North @ Vincennes. North should win this, but Lincoln is tough at home on that natural grass. I'll take the Alices 24-17 in an upset. Jasper @ Castle. I expect Castle to have some let-down after pummeling Reitz. Jasper plays its second of three straight on the road. Knights win 24-10 in a game that is a little closer than what it should be. Reitz @ Memorial. The SIAC game of the week. Memorial homecoming at Enlow. Reitz hasn't been beaten like that in quite a while, so it will be interesting to see how they bounce back mentally while still facing some injury adversity. Memorial O has been humming since the North game, but that includes 3 games against the bottom of the SIAC. Now the Tigers have a tough 3 game stretch. Tigers' D secondary probably facing its biggest challenge of the season to this point. I expect it to be close early, then the Tigers will pull away 35-14.

No. In that scenario, the best Castle could do is a share of the SIAC title. The SIAC doesn't look at H2H, just W/L. That game at Bosse Field is going to be pretty incredible.

So a weird weekend ends.. Memorial 42-22 over Bosse Mater Dei 17-14 over North Lincoln 20-7 over Harrison Jasper 35-0 over Central Castle 35-7 over Reitz In the shocker of the day from a score standpoint.

I bet just keeping him out. Game is over. No need to get him injured.

Castle is pounding Reitz 28-0.
