I'm told Memorial's FRL is 15%. Curious as to whether any of the local GIDers think that is higher than expected..

For the record, I support an adjustment like this far more than a p/p multiplier or even a "Success Factor" that can potentially punish a group of kids for success had by their predecessors. While not perfect, it does seem to hitting the nail closer to the head. Factoring in kids with disabilities like Foxbat said seems pretty simple too.

That's what I heard from a pretty good source. Reitz plays at home Friday and Coach Goebel did not want to play at Central, North or Enlow (LOL) - all 3 are open on Friday. I'm actually a little surprised. I prefer Saturday myself. It is hard for fans to have a proper tailgate when the games start at 6:30. A sunrise from atop Reitz Hill is probably beautiful. .

He is a great player. What films do you have? Pretty much anyone playing Bosse and Central looks next level. Castle ran all over Reitz, but Reitz is without its best LB and their D secondary is very soft. They wanted no part of tackling McCool in what I saw. Overall, Castle has some very good players and they seem to be coming together at the right time. Giving up 21 to MD in the second half to lose still makes me scratch my head.

So as I understand it... GS Current Enrollment 771 (per IHSAA enrollments & classifications) Less FRL -65 (163 x 40%) Adjusted Enrollment 706. Is that right? I may be wrong (usually am), but I don't see that moving the needle all that much. For a large urban public school I get that it would. Could this also possibly be a "be careful what you wish for" kind of thing for non-urban publics if a large urban 6A gets adjusted down into 5A (or maybe even 4A)?

Where do you even look for that kind of data? Is it online?

I believe Memorial will be on the third base side and Castle on the first base side.

I've seen a lot more $75,000 trucks at our games with Gibson Southern with Titan stickers than at our games at Enlow, but maybe it's just poor unsubsidized farmers...

That is the way I understand it, unless there has been a change since the SIAC expanded in 2020. I know in 2019 Central beat Memorial and then lost to Mater Dei the next week. Central and Memorial were co-champs at 6-1.

Well, the information we know is that Central and Rex Mundi both used Bosse Field as their home field. Central moved from downtown to First Avenue in 1971 (presumably before the school year). I assume Central's football stadium was built as part of the new construction. If that is the case, then Central would not have played at Bosse Field as the home team in 1971. Rex Mundi closed in 1972, so the 1971 season would have been its last using Bosse Field as its home field. Memorial's last game with Rex Mundi was Nov. 12, 1971, which was the last week of the HS football season. If it was Rex Mundi's home game, then it would seem that was the last game at Bosse Field. If it was at Enlow, then whoever rex Mundi hosted a week prior would be the last game. I need to go to the library and get on the microfilm for old newspapers....

Maybe. I was pretty involved in the last Bosse Field game with Mr. Bussing from the Otters and 1971 was our best educated guess. The "40th Anniversary" was a bit of a marketing ploy... LOL

August 28, 2011. Memorial 21-19 over Belleville West. I'm not sure anyone knows when the last game before that was. I think it would have been Rex Mundi's last home game but it would take some time in the library to know for sure.

We play where we are assigned to play by the powers that be.

Coach Buening said that on the WREF Pairings Show last night too when discussing the match-up with Mt. Vernon.

MD is 3-1 versus Memorial in post-season play.

A possible Round 2 matchup of Southridge at Ev. Memorial would be the first-ever meeting of those teams in football.

It would be pretty unusual to play on Saturday. Enlow is open, but I suspect Coach Goebel will take Central or possibly North.

Memorial plays Castle. So Reitz hosts Central in Sectional 24 so Memorial at MD will be somewhere other than the bowl, I would bet at Central.
