  1. Therein lies the rub. It is well documented that the IHSAA applies the rules inconsistently. Taking them out of the equation with a automatic one time transfer rule would level the playing field for all students and remove any inconsistent applications. Without getting into all the details, 2 years ago we had a kid transfer from one of the public schools, both schools indicated it was NOT for athletic purposes, yet the former school still blocked full eligibility and the kid had to go through the entire appeal process to get full eligibility, ultimately by suing the IHSAA. Giving a one-time transfer takes politics and bias out.
  2. I honestly don't know the answer to that. Maybe for IHSAA purposes we do. Switch Memorial with Harrison then. Kid is at Bosse and wants to go to Harrison (2 miles away). Does he have to move? I guess I don't understand the "just move".
  3. Or, to maybe make it more palatable to some on here... Kid enrolled at Memorial and played a year, but transfers to Bosse. Still walks to both schools. Same question. Why require a move?
  4. So I think you knew the neighborhood. Let's say a kid enrolled at Bosse and played a year, but transfers to Memorial. He walks from home to both schools. Why should his parents have to move?
  5. They have all the prep work done. I think its just a matter of installing the carpet. Those crews are incredibly efficient, so we'll see.
  6. I was told that too. First time I've heard of that being used. Sounds more environmentally friendly. Castle usually hosts the scrimmage with Memorial. If the crew starts tomorrow, I bet they'll be playing on it next Friday. It is pretty wild how quickly they can get them installed.
  7. How far do you want to roll it back? Back to when the IHSAA was controlled by such honorable men like Arthur Trester, who didn't allow African-American or Catholic schools to be members and participate in the state tournaments? That sure oozed morality and "doing what was right". Good post. I can't speak for any other parochial school, but our coach is not out trying to contact or recruit players from public schools.
  8. "The complete lawlessness of recruiting players and the de facto 'transfer portal'. If you polled the coaches from the SIAC and PAC, you would have a strong consensus on a very few programs that are involved in this area." "Over the last 8-10 years, in the city, you will have one "all-star" team and everyone else. Those coaches who aren't coaching the loaded team are livid behind closed doors, but have a job to keep. Everyone sees it, everyone knows what is going on, but no one says a word (in public). The coaches on the teams that aren't "the chosen one" lose players and are always up against it. The loaded team usually has a lot of success in the conference. The only thing that changes is which team is declared "the winner" and I don't think that is changing anytime soon."
  9. Oh heck, let's talk about it. LOL. You're 100% right. Harrison had a brief stint, then Central, and now it's Reitz, who probably has the best chance of making it stick given the overall dynamics in the EVSC system. I do find it interesting that a coach made those comments knowing it would go into an article. It will be interesting to see how things play out over the next few years.
  10. Don't want to leave out the first article in the series about rule changes: seeding, hashes and those darn cheatin' Catholics... https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2024/08/05/indiana-high-school-football-coaches-propose-possible-rule-changes/74610118007/
  11. And right on cue, an article about scheduling... https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2024/08/07/southwest-indiana-high-school-football-coaches-discuss-scheduling/74610347007/
  12. I'd take the first three in your list with Castle, Memorial, Mater Dei and Jasper in a new conference. I guess we'd need a green team so add Vincennes Lincoln.
  13. Interesting comments from a city coach about recruiting. https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2024/08/06/indiana-high-school-football-coaches-discuss-biggest-challenges/74610225007/
  14. Losing Thomas (TE) is a huge blow from a talent and experience standpoint. He was a big weapon, although IMO waaay under-utilized the last two years. He should have touched the ball at least 15 times a game.
  15. I missed all but the last segment, so I really can't say. In talking to Coach Hurley, Dan Egierski referred to comments made by Luke Ellspermann, so Luke was evidently the player interviewed before I tuned in. What I heard was mainly Coach discussing offense personnel and depth.
  16. My response about the fragility of so many of my fellow Catholics would probably shut down the thread, so I'll keep my mouth shut.
  17. The website has an archives tab, but I think you have to be a subscriber.
  18. I don't know about the voice, but he definitely has a face for radio... 😆 @Titan32, will you be doing the coaches show too?
  19. WREF (97.7 FM) will be hosting SIAC preview shows starting next week. Here is the schedule: 7/29 7/30 7/31 8/1 8/2 4:00 PM Memorial Jasper Bosse Mater Dei Central 4:30 PM North Reitz Vincennes Castle Harrison
  20. As to the Mighty Panthers, you have to think this needs to be the year they finally get something done in November. Sectional 24 got a little easier and the Regional will look much different without East Central.
  21. Gotta love the sense of humor!
  22. Nice article on Memorial Tiger start Branson Combs https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2024/07/10/branson-combs-finishing-college-football-career-at-wake-forest/74297752007/
  23. Any place to find the same percentages for current NBA players?
