  1. Slippery. I am surprised GS D gave up that many points. That's similar to what Central, Bosse and Harrison did.
  2. Giving up 42 is a LOT of points for an undefeated team...
  3. and a couple of lineman too... Harrison is way too thin to replace several starters. So bad news for Harrison but good news for Boonville. The SIAC's 7th & 8th place teams are going to feel the wrath of the PAC Big School #1 & #2 tonight. Too bad Harrison isn't full strength. That could have been a fun game.
  4. Yep, 29 of them in the last 6 years alone. Guess which photo is from a playoff game?
  5. So you're telling me Cathedral's players and coaches would have prepared more, focused more, and played/managed better in that Wk. 2 match-up with Brownsburg if it was some sort of qualifier game?
  6. The argument espoused is that is would make the regular season "better". Just because the result of the game may have some implication for either team, it doesn't mean the game itself (level of play, coaching or officiating) will be better. Maybe its different down here, but I have never seen an SIAC or PAC school not giving 100%. Two examples... (1) Two weeks ago, we beat Vincennes Lincoln and there was a missed call that cost VL a TD. Bobref admitted the ref was out of position. HUDL confirms the ref made the wrong call. What if that game cost VL a spot in the playoffs? (2) Like Cathedral and Dwenger, we are by far the smallest school in our class due to SF. Depth is a huge issue and probably cost us last year in Semi-State against MV Fortville. We have more than the normal amount of players who are banged up and could probably have used a week off last week, but we played 5A Castle in SIAC "Rivalry Week". None of those kids sat out, because for us a game against Castle (in any sport) means a lot. Coaches, players, officials, fans, etc. really can't give 110%. The argument that the regular season would be "better" assumes they can.
  7. It isn't unreasonable to think the same thing might happen if a team had to qualify. Say MV had locked up a spot in the tournament, and was playing a tough opponent in Wk 1 of the playoffs. Whose to say they wouldn't pull their starters for a "meaningless' late season game to rest up for the playoffs? In any event, I suspect the number of teams sitting starters is very, very low.
  8. If the scuttlebutt is true, then VL has about as much of a chance of beating GS on Friday as PC does beating MD.
  9. I would favor the home team in any matchup between the winner of Sectional 24 and East Central. I don't see anybody stopping New Pal.
  10. MD hasn't lost in a 2A Sectional game to anyone except Southridge since uh, I think ever. Perry Central lost by 3 scores to 1A Tecumseh. This game has running clock written all over it. At least the home team will finally get a W at Central Stadium though...
  11. LOL. I believe so. I ran out of salmon for the dogs.
  12. That O was pretty well suited to LOS turf too...
  13. No question GS was tremendous in 2015. How many fumbles did Chatard have?
  14. Yeah, I would think he would. Any great coach is going to want multi-sport kids. That is the big conflict with us too. Travel baseball is insane.
  15. How does some of that summer stuff impact multi-sport players? I don't follow much basketball or baseball, so I don't have any sense of whether GS has a lot of 2 and 3 sport players. I know Titan32's son played basketball, but that's about it. Personally, I think some of that summer stuff is overkill, but it is creating a commitment level that is unmatched. I suppose that is but one reason why GS is separating itself from the rest of the PAC.
  16. No way a team can prepare for the weather per se, but a team that has faced adversity is more likely to be mentally tougher than a team that curb-stomped everyone all year. I realize it wasn't a weather game, but a perfect example is 2012 GS beating Charlestown in 3A Regional. Charlestown hadn't faced adversity all season and killed people. When they got up on GS and GS didn't quit and came battling back, Charlestown well, you know.
  17. Maybe playing a tougher schedule better prepares a team to handle adversity, whether it be the opponent or bad weather. What is that line I see on here sometimes about ifs and buts being my aunt's candies and nuts and my uncle having a wonderful Christmas?
  18. I obviously don't know this, but I wonder if that Memorial loss (and maybe more so the way VL lost) may have been a huge mental blow to the Alices. I know Jasper has gotten healthy and will be a very tough out, but I really expected VL to bounce back and give the Cats more of a game on Friday. Doesn't look like it was though. Hunt is the slipperiest player I've seen in a while, so I'll be interested to see if he can get some mojo going against GS. I'm not giving up on my Harrison over Boonville prediction just yet, but I definitely would have liked for Harrison to beat Bosse by more than 2 scores last week. I understand that other than handful of plays, Boonville didn't do all that much. Harrison had success against a depleted Jasper by stopping the run, so maybe they can use that blueprint and upset the Pioneers. Honestly though, if I was betting real money I would take the PAC over SIAC in both match-ups. And based on my last few weeks on FanDuel that just might be the kiss of death to the Titans and Pioneers.
  19. Reitz should be there ahead of any of teams listed from 20-25.
  20. I hope so, but the Alices have nose-dived into a 3 game losing skid.
  21. Combination of all 3? MD is peaking at the right time. Reitz is beatable. And anything can happen in the Nut Club game.
