I think it’s just more of a year where People want to see what happens in the playoffs. Does anyone go above and beyond to carry their team to a title?
i think the Hansen with Roncalli would have to be the favorite though. 10 games in and he has 2400 yards and 29 TDs. Another 100 and 2 TDs receiving
Also Ringer is a junior by the looks of it so he can’t win it. Maybe he can win the Gatorade player of the year though

GS 2022 reminds me of EM 2019.
This might be the best compliment I’ve seen you give GS lol
as for the titans inner circle vs not….I think expectations have changed. Coming into the year many were focused on just conference and sectional…but after winning against South Warren…Southridge using the backup QB…the way they have handled adversity…I think the expectations have been rising slowly and many think there is something more to this class.
but I’m an outsider who gets information second hand and this is just my interpretation. I think I’m still hesitant to proclaim anything with GS while people directly involved with the program are more bullish on certain topics…which is completely fair

Does regular season schedule matter? GS and other PAC fans were saying schedule didn’t matter leading up to the S32 battles with Memorial and the rest of the field. I always felt like it was important to some degree. Now I’m hearing some of the same GS/PAC fans say schedule does matter. Has the thought on scheduling changed now that GS has beefed theirs up?
I think it’s more of a hindsight thing
sometimes it really doesn’t matter who you play and you just got the right dudes. OV might be in that category.
other times schedule matters a lot…I would like to think that VL last week gave GS the trouble they did because they had been in tough games with memorial Reitz md and the rest of the SIAC. So facing GS was similar to facing Reitz or someone and they didn’t just fold over and kept fighting

Just looking at OVs stats on maxpreps….without knowing their scheme it genuinely looks like a GS offense….defense too?
here are my impressions:
efficient QB who doesn’t turn the ball over much and has only 4 INTs….while putting up good passing numbers of just under 1800 yards with like 25 TDs.
QB spreads the ball around but also can run the ball well and is the teams 2nd leading rusher
sr rb who has put up big numbers and over 20 TDs. Rbs get plenty of receiving work and do well with it.
Statistically the receiving stats are balanced with nobody far and away more productive.
Defensively they get after it and have A LOT of TFL and plenty of sacks
They seem very similar on paper….I mean I could go through and say pretty much the exact same things about GS.
if OV runs an uptempo spread RPO….it might be a battle with the mirror for both teams

What kind of offense does Owen Valley run? Wondering if it’s something new this year of if GS has faced a team with a similar style

Chris J. likes Reitz -10.5 on his predictor. Boonville’s Conner is one elusive player on both sides of the ball. But I do like Reitz in this one
The thing with Conner though….it’s almost like they put too much on him. He’s like 6’5 and an absolute stud…but he plays both ways. He is their QB and he has almost as many rush attempts as Wilder their RB. On defense he is their SS/Hybrid LB. I think he also does a little bit of returning. He leads the team in INTs with 5 this year (unless he got more against Harrison)
point is…he pretty much doesn’t come off the field and he plays in 2 roles that require a lot of sprinting
kid is a stud….but imo he is forced to do too much for the team and can become tired in the 2nd half. To beat Reitz they need their depth at like WRs 3-6 and the backup RBs to make plays. Defense needs to be able to get off the field….at least in the 1st half of the game. Save a bit of Conner so that he has more energy to close out the game….because Boonville isn’t going to win without him

To add pike central I believe has played 11 games once in their history 2002 where they went 3-8.
a win this week would be the most games ever played in a season from them I believe. Definitely rooting for them

No student at Pike Central had every seen a football playoff win in their entire lives. They did last night.
Hopefully they make it 2 wins and can beat West Vigo.

2019 Evansville Memorial did. The 2021 squad was pretty close to getting there as well - just coming up short in the Semi State game.
The 2018 and 2019 Memorial teams could have probably given 5A a run for it’s money too.
and that’s kinda the scary thing with success factor….if a team like memorial has a super special string of classes…they can go from 3A to 4A to 5A….and then at the 5A level….they would play Castle North and then like new Albany or something…could easily get a sectional…and at that point..they need 1 good win at regionals and they are stuck in 5A despite a low 3A enrollment.
thankfully it didn’t play out like that but honestly….for some areas of the state, it might be easier to win a regional moving up a class. It’s certainly harder to win it all moving up, but for an area like Evansville….I have to believe 4A is much harder of a path than 5A

Opening lines (Calpreps)
Jasper (-2) at Memorial
Reitz (-18) at Boonville
(John Harrell)
Jasper at Memorial (-4)
Reitz (-14) at Boonville
Honestly….these Boonville lines are fair.
I obviously am going to be rooting for Boonville…but from what has been shown this year and how they have performed against their schedules…I feel like Reitz by 2 scores is a fair line.
brain says 35-24 Reitz
heart says 35-31 Boonville

Oh and good win GS. But not unexpected.
VL. You’ll are going to be a force next year in the SIAC. You have potential to win the conference.
Tables might be turned next year for sure. This year people were saying “oh man tough draw for VL. They did not want to face GS in round 1” next year could easily be the opposite where GS is the underdog and us fans were wishing they were facing someone else.
as for the SIAC vs GS debates…they are always fun lol. I think it’s amusing that in season the SIAC fans were hyping VL a lot and VL was giving everyone but Jasper a game. Could have easily been an 8-1 or 7-2 team
……but the moment they lose to GS it’s “Omg how could GS let VL score 42 points” as if VL was Princeton or something. I’m sure in a few years they will come back to this game and say “oh they were only the 7th place SIAC team” for whatever argument that fits their narrative

Lol everyone on here from GS knows me and knows where I am every Friday night. You on the other hand lose credibility with every post. You might as well change your name to Dumfries Parkhurst.
I’m just a former player who was no good and hardly played but loves statistics and following the team. I’ve been here for since like 2011/2012 and it’s been the same thing with me the entire time. It’s just my opinions lol
like who are you fooling…everyone here already has their opinions of me and they have been set for a while…I’m not losing credibility 😂 I barely have any to begin with. I’m just myself….and I’ve been myself the entire time.
and guess what…in 10 years I’ll probably still be here talking Gibson Southern/3A/4A/SIAC vs PAC….because that’s what I’ve done the last 10 years and it’s what I like talking about and debating

Winner next week might get Pike Central in the championship…
Honestly….I would love to see it
pike central has had so many coaching changes and bad years….they deserve some momentum and a chance at a sectional championship might be just that. I’m not sure Pike Central has ever played 12 games in a football season

You’re not serious. As a dad who has had sons play instrumental parts in the Defense both years. Trust me..you can’t be serious!
Yeah that’s easy for you to come in here and Ty and bash me now after the VL game….but up until last night the defense had looked phenomenal only giving up a few big plays.
Last night certainly not up to their own standard giving up so many big plays but i think I’ll stick to my opinion and not overreact to one game.
also quit DMing me trying to yell at me for having my own opinions. I don’t even know who the hell you are and yet once every few months when you log on you are in my DMs yelling at me for something I swear

Overheard they did so with their third string QB!!!
Maybe the 3rd stringer should be starting haha

Danville (3-6) vs Tri west (7-2)
Danville now 4-6 👀 after beating TW 40-21.
that’s a pretty good upset

With 3-4 players out with flu, I picked Boonville to beat Harrison. We will see how Boonville does against Reitz. And I'll be rooting for them without question. But how does GS give up 42 and 600 yds against 7th place SIAC team?
539 yards.
4 plays including 2 trick plays combined for 234 yards and 4 tds.
part of the numbers is also that GS forced VL into 5 three and outs….and they had 2 kick return TDs.
because of this…there were times where the defense didn’t get to rest much at all. VL had to run 74 plays. Factoring out the 4 big plays, VL had to run 70 plays to get 305 yards and 14 points.
certainly not the best of nights defensively but that’s also a credit to Vincennes. They didn’t give up at all and kept trying to find a way. They got creative with their playcalling and it was working at times.
either way…you kindly keep trying to brush off that GS scored 63 on VL…Wasn’t memorial only winning 14-10 in the 4th Qtr?
Also….Gibson Southern was in control of this game the entire time. VL was able to get it within 8 briefly in the 2nd Qtr and then fight back again from down 21 to 7 at the end of the 3rd Qtr….but the fact of the matter is….GS was in control and leading this game for literally the entire game minus the opening minute in the 1st Qtr.

Only if they get a crazy draw. I think Bosse and Harrison would both beat them by a couple of scores. Pioneers would need a bye and then something crazy to happen, like Central upsetting someone. Boonville isn't going to compete with Reitz, Memorial or Jasper.
Receipts
41-14 Boonville over Harrison

Coast?
Owen Valley is 10-0
Winner of next week surely coasts to the title though

Special teams the difference tonight. Lincoln had a bad snap that resulted in a safety and gave up 2 kickoff returns for TD.
Both offenses incredible. Xander Hunt with the game of his life so far. Looking forward to his senior season
GS was also able to make the most of their punts. Special teams came up huge today for GS.
Hunt is only a junior 👀👀
Hats off to VL though. Y’all were way better than the 4-6 record and went toe to toe with a top 5 team in 2A, 3A, and 4A this year

Slippery. I am surprised GS D gave up that many points. That's similar to what Central, Bosse and Harrison did.
Yeah and Reitz MD and Memorial also couldn’t score 35 points on them either 🤔

Gibson Southern is going to pull this one out against Vincennes Lincoln it looks like
with 2 1/2 minutes left in the game, the titans connect for a td and extend their lead to 21 points
GS 63
VL 42

Gibson Southern takes the balls and does roberts/delong combo up the field. Devan Roberts punches it in for the TD.
GS 56
VL 42

OV can make #2 happen. Because #2 has been the same issue all year. GS defense is absolutely stout and gets after it…teams find themselves behind the chains a lot…..but the big plays….big plays are what has hurt GS the most this year.
just going back through GS’s games….through 10 games they have allowed roughly 20 TDs on varsity…..9 of them have been TDs of 40 yards or more. At least 5 of those 9 were 75 yards+…so about 25% of the scoring GS has allowed has been essentially 1 busted play that went to the house.
it goes without saying that against the #1 scoring team in the state, GS has to make OV drive the entire field to score….limit the big plays and make nothing easy.
Having Vincennes Lincoln score the way they did this last week might have been good for GS. It’s easy to say since they won…but getting exposed on the big plays like they did last week might have been just the push they needed to take another step and start playing some championship football
