I think "could pull off the upset" insinuates a close game. Maybe we don't have the same understanding of the English language. Cats by a running clock in the 3rd. Maybe you should throw out a score prediction Nostradamus.

It’s NostraDumfries thank you very much.

my prediction is with the SW Indiana Pickems.  I believe hh has Perry Central as a 24 point underdog…I think PC covers.

Again I give them about a 35% chance lol I don’t necessarily think they will beat MD….I just suggested that Perry Central shouldn’t be overlooked.

the real irony here is that MD fans are very much overlooking them…yall are so mad that I gave a team a 35% chance to beat Mater Dei.

alright alright…since MD is 6-3 I’ll give them a 66% chance of winning.  PC will now be lower at 33%.  The remaining 1% is that all of these seeding threads get read by the ihsaa and we suspend the tournament a week to seed everyone.

Are you familiar with Ohio’s Harbin formula? To me, it seems to do as good a job of combining W-L record and strength of schedule as any. It’s explained here, for the uninitiated: http://www.redridersportsblog.com/2010/10/ohsaa-harbin-computer-pointsa-tutorial.html

….I think I actually like this system.

would be cool to actually see the numbers for Indiana.  It just seems like a pretty cut and dry way to do it….you get rewarded for winning….and if the teams you beat, can also beat good teams, you are rewarded for that too….all without actually needing to see what the team names were.

it could be done listing everyone as “Team 1” all the way to “Team 1000” with no bias

  3. In some sense….I think Southridge might the #2 team in 3A south.  Should Gibson Southern slip up, I think they have a real chance of making it to LOS.

i don’t really see anyone who is better in their sectional…or their regional.

a semi state game would likely be against Tri West, Webo, Owen Valley, Vincennes Lincoln, Or Gibson Southern….and I’ll take Southridge over any of those except Gibson Southern

I think you're going to find yourself and your opinion very wrong when Friday night ends.

If I’m very wrong then Perry central blows MD out lol

i gave PC a 35% chance of pulling off the upset…saying MD has faced tougher competition…and saying PC is 8-1 and shouldn’t be overlooked

i guess they didn’t teach you at Mater Dei that just because you can read and sing the hymns doesn’t mean you actually understand them. 😬😬😬

Not to be disrespectful to PC but I think the right two teams have an opportunity to meet in the finals and I believe MD wins this week by 3 or 4 scores. On paper PC and NP would be a very good game, believe Sagarin has NP a little higher.

The Vikings could easily be better than PC, I just gave PC the nod because they are 8-1…but NP is 7-2 with losses only to linton and Southridge I believe.

im bound to stir the pot a bit if MD and NP play each other lol

MD hasn't lost in a 2A Sectional game to anyone except Southridge since uh, I think ever. Perry Central lost by 3 scores to 1A Tecumseh. This game has running clock written all over it. At least the home team will finally get a W at Central Stadium though...

yeah yeah yeah I get it.

im still not picking a stinky SIAC team.  I’m here to burn bridges 😘

Rock Creek cancelled their season which was thier week 9 opp. I'm not sure how Tecumsehs 4 and 5 wide sets will go in the colder weather. I think them vs (assuming) Providence should a great match up.

    That would explain it.

admittedly, I don’t know Jack about 1A football other that Lutheran should walk to 15-0.  I don’t know anything about providence either except that they are 6-3.  But I’m assuming they play a tougher schedule to be favored over a 9-0 team

  7. Give me Tecumseh to take it all.

Tecumseh is a PAC team in all sports except football, but this is the final year before they rejoin football conference play in the small school division.

they are 8-0 (not sure why they didn’t play 9 games) but doesn’t matter as they dominated everyone including 7-2 North Posey and 8-1 Perry Central.

this is definitely biased but hey…would love to welcome Tecumseh back to PAC football as a reigning champ and since they are 8-0 I’m not going to pick them to lose

  8. I feel like it’s gotta be linton this year….just so dominant….even against a very good Boonville squad they were all over the place finding ways to score and pulled out the win over the 4A boon.

now…this is going to ruffle a lot of feathers among my SIAC frenemies….but Mater Dei has a tough round 1 opponent imo who could pull off the upset.  Perry Central doesn’t really play anyone too tough and certainly MD has played a MUCH harder schedule….but Perry Central is 8-1 still with their one loss being to 9-0 Tecumseh.

PC vs MD probably the sectional final matchup all things considered but they face round 1.  MD certainly can’t overlook them in the slightest.

will PC win? Ehhh 35/65 chance imo…but certainly a game to watch

  9. I hope youre right lol

The thing with GS this year is just how different the team is while being dominant.

last year the defense was good but I don’t think it was this good.  The DL is wrecking teams and through 9 games I believe 3 DL have over 5 sacks each.  The team has also combined for just under 80 TFL I believe, just short of 10 TFL per game….and the craziest part about it…at least in my opinion, the best kid on the DL is a freshman.

Now you've done it.  If you thought there were arguments around Sagarin for qualifications, you know the sentiments, and "discussions," that surround the polls.  At least you didn't suggest the AP poll.

    Lol

i mean…I just find it weird that coaches always say “polls mean nothing” but yet they are all voting in the IFCA on them every week.

might as well make them good for something.

but this will probably never happen so I can float out all the wild ideas I want

  11. Memorial at Bosse [+30.5]
    Boonville at Harrison [+12.5]
    Central at Reitz [-42.5]
    Vincennes at Gibson Southern [-14.5]
Perry Central at Mater Dei [-24.5]
Owen Valley at Mount Vernon [+7.5]
    Washington at Pike Central [+13.5]
    North Harrison at Southridge [-20.5]
Forest Park at North Posey [-21.5]
    South Spencer at Tecumseh [+27.5]

@hhpatriot04um I think your Tecumseh/South Spencer spread is backwards

ill take Tecumseh at -27.5 still but to give us +27.5?!?!

Also instead of a zoom call, have the coaches anonymously seed the sectionals with a secure return format from 1-8 or 1-4. Then have the IHSAA determine the top 4 in 1-8 sectionals & top 2 on 1-4 sectionals based on those anonymous results. Definitely will need tie breaker scenarios in place going into it. Then have the brackets revealed with pairings show. Maybe have one where the top seeds are revealed beforehand.

    Nah no anonymous stuff

if we are going to have coaches seed it then they gotta be willing to put their name by their seeding.

As for tiebreakers….I think it would be pretty cool if they put the tiebreaker as “most points based on IFCA coaches poll over the entire season)

I know it’s a bit of a wild idea….but it would actually mean that a poll matters.  Every week when they cast their top 10 or whatever it is…it will matter and not just be a talking point.

Who is going to step in when the fisticuffs start? Or is that a give part of this seeding process?

Oh come on….it’s 2022…you really think they are going to do this in person? Lol

it’s going to be a zoom call.

coaches don’t even have to make a drive to exchange tapes.  It’s all done from their phone/computer.

Is this the final week or will we keep it going into sectionals as long as there are enough teams to make it work?

How does some of that summer stuff impact multi-sport players? I don't follow much basketball or baseball, so I don't have any sense of whether GS has a lot of 2 and 3 sport players. I know Titan32's son played basketball, but that's about it.

Personally, I think some of that summer stuff is overkill, but it is creating a commitment level that is unmatched. I suppose that is but one reason why GS is separating itself from the rest of the PAC.

Without looking….I feel like there is little to no change.  If anything slightly better?

at least from what I can remember, GS’s other boys sports teams are doing about the same/slightly better than what they were doing when I was in HS right before Hart arrived.

don’t think there has been much impact on other sports…but it’s not like GS is a powerhouse across the board at boys sports.  We all know GS is better at the girls sports across the board than anything

No way a team can prepare for the weather per se, but a team that has faced adversity is more likely to be mentally tougher than a team that curb-stomped everyone all year. I realize it wasn't a weather game, but a perfect example is 2012 GS beating Charlestown in 3A Regional. Charlestown hadn't faced adversity all season and killed people. When they got up on GS and GS didn't quit and came battling back, Charlestown well, you know.

But like……it was 22-20  Chatard with 5 minutes left in the game in 2015.  On their final drive GS had their 6th fumble (4th lost) of the game.  They had 6 turnovers total for the game including a fumble that went for a Chatard TD

like…what are you talking about Willis?

Overcoming 5 turnovers and it being a 2 point game with under 5 minutes left with a chance to drive down and win the game against Chatard is about as good as it gets when it comes to overcoming adversity.

6 was just 1 too many lol

I’m just going to chalk this one up as a way for Memorial fans to forget that they lost 22-19 to Princeton in round 1 of sectionals that year 😉 I wouldn’t want to think about that much either
