  1. I actually believe New Pal needed a close game and it is no surprise it came from Mt Vernon.
  2. It was and it was a good game. Mt Vernon put up much more of a fight this go round. It is really tough to be someone twice in a season let alone your most heated rivalry.
  3. That is going to be crazy! Mudsock 2.0! New Pal and Mt Vernon is going to be insane tonight too!
  4. Yes that is correct which is another issue, success factor. Georgia also has the Independent league for private schools. So there is that too.
  5. Which in my opinion is pointless if the conference schedule is the deciding factor. In GA they call their conference regions and there are 6 teams to a region typically. An odd number the best record team will get the bye. But only the 4 of the 6 will make it to the playoffs, and they will be placed in 1st place thru 4th place. They lay out all the tie breaker rules too. Those four teams are seeded according to their place. They play each other, winner then meets up with the next region. Those games are seeded as well where the highest seed gets home field advantage. The financials are wrapped up in there too. It is pretty simple and straight forward.
  6. Though I am for coming up with a qualifier for teams to get to the playoffs it would need to be stipulated that only conference records and not overall records should be one factor for teams to make it to state. If it is an overall record then scheduling tougher out of conference teams would virtually cease for many schools. But there is also the issue with the Independent schools. In FL independent schools (no conference affiliation) do not get to play in the state playoffs. Which means the distance restriction would need to be lifted to allow schools that want stay independent to play a national schedule. So there are some other things to consider, but regardless the IHSAA needs to get with it and stop handing out "season participation trophies" via a sectional playoff spot.
  7. I predict New Pal winning 4A, but I see them having to go through Roncalli, then East Central, and the Northwood to make that happen. Not gonna be easy.
  8. I have been saying this would happen since Roncalli beat Louisville Male. Roncalli should be ahead of New Pal based on strength of schedule even with one loss, a close loss to a good team. I still think New Pal is the better team, but that won't be found out until Roncalli and New Pal meet in the regionals. New Pal's path to state is looking tough; starting with Mt. Vernon, then most likely Greenfield Central. Sectional will likely be against Beech Grove, then Roncalli likely at Regional. Then either Reitz or EC at Semi state. I believe Northwood will win the north. So that weaker strength of schedule is gone at this point.
  9. Honestly, after watching Yorktown give NP a first half challenge (admittedly that was probably the worst first half of ball we played all year) I was shocked to see them lose to GC. I still expect them to give MV a challenge and possibly pull out a win.
  10. I guess I heard the starting QB for LC didn't play and they were still up 28-0 to start?
  11. Why is that so hard to believe? CG and WC were tight all the way to the 4th quarter and wo Keith Jackson who has shown to be the difference maker when playing QB. WC just beat Carmel 20-13. CG and Carmel was 31-27. It isn't out of the realm of possibility. I will say this as I have said before WC is their own worst enemy, but if they can play up to the talent that they have on their team then there isn't anyone in the state they can't beat (well maybe except New Pal, LOL).
  12. I think it is stupid that they get to the playoffs. It is extra unnecessary games and raises the chances of injuries for the teams that deserve to be there.
  13. Giving 0-9 teams the opportunity play in the playoffs is like giving them a participation trophy for playing in the regular season. Dumb IMO.
  14. I think there is an argument for both. I get your point. And we'd never really find out. Match ups play a big part in any team match up. Chatard has been up and down this year. Roncalli is one dimensional or so far that is what we have seen. For Roncalli we will see this week a little better how good they are against East Central. Roncalli played a very good Elder team and nearly beat them after playing a very tough LM team the week before. We can walk that 7 degrees of separation with Roncalli through the LM game who they beat 28-7 (heard it was close until the 4th qtr) bc LM beat Louisville Trinity who beat CG and Carmel. Again some teams match up better with others. I wish we could find out though.
  15. If we wanna keep this short and sweet the winner of Roncalli and New Pal will be the 4A state champ and likely ranked #1 in the state in the multi-class power rankings after the dust is settled up at 6A. But for discussion sake: - Regional between 17 and 18 will be New Prairie and Northwood - Northwood the winner - Regional between 19 and 20 will be Columbia City and Kokomo - Kokomo the winner - Regional between 21 and 22 will be Roncalli and New Pal - New Pal the winner - Regional between 23 and 24 will be East Central and Ev. Reitz - East Central the winner New Pal and Northwood New Pal 4A State Champs
  16. Now that is anticipation right there! Maybe just catch it on IHSAATV app so you can cheer on Chatard in person. LOL I do hope it lives up to the hype or New Pal just puts a whooping on them and not the other way around.
  17. I don't know if you ever watch the IndyStar's Prep Weekly with Brian Haenchen, Akeem Glaspie and Kyle Neddenriep, but Brian asked who the other two were anxious to see play Roncalli next after they play Elder and Kyle quickly said New Pal. I think a lot of people are hoping to see that game. I know I am. I probably won't have any finger nails by the end of the game that is for sure! 18. You took the words right out of my mouth. I was just about to say that. I believe we both do love the sport. I also know that it is easy to misunderstand things in writing. I get it. It is a fun game and it is fun to discuss. It is even more fun to see our teams and our kids succeed as well as other kids in the area and state. I do actually agree with most of your comments and your rankings. But I will try have more brevity than length.
  19. I get the vagueness, but I was alluding to having actual experience with the situation. Some stated that one of the kids, not mine, "bailed" on WC. They did not. And without specifically stating what that was and what that kid and my kid both experienced in the classroom which led to them transferring I figured I needed to at least say something in defense for that kid. And the coaching staff is a mess and the HC has already said that more or less in interviews. But I also care for the kids on the team at Warren and through all of this, plus the transfer have tried not to air dirty laundry in the hopes that the HC would get things turned around. I am still hoping for that.
  20. Can I ask you a question? What is the difference between nitpicking one thing about your rankings? I simply argued Roncalli was too low and gave, admittedly, my evidence for them needing to be ranked higher. I didn't even come close to nitpicking every aspect of your rankings which was clearly evident because I was arguing more less one aspect of it which is evident in the rankings I posted which largely agree in other parts of your rankings. Do my rankings have to be completely different simply because I disagree about where you had Roncalli? That makes no sense. And rankings don't ultimately matter. They are fun to see what others think and to discuss. I'd assume you'd agree since you posted your own rankings.
  21. Roncalli is too low compared to the schools ahead of them and the win got against a team that beat a team that beat both CG and Carmel. And they didn't just barely beat them. This was on a different thread than discussing Roncalli's passing game. Which is an apparent weakness in terms of the last 7 weeks and their offensive strategy and passing offensive stats. How do you argue that or see that as a contradiction? Every team has a weakness, even the number one team and I never brought up their weakness in your "Rankings" post. SMH
  22. Hypocrisy? Do you even know what hypocrisy means? My opinions don't contradict.
  23. So let's back track a bit and recap. I am responding on a discussion forum. Makes sense. I respond to your rankings and I have been consistent across the board about other similar rankings from last week that Roncalli is ranked too low. I then present my reasons why. I was told I was rambling. Okay that's fair they were long. I can admit that. I was also told I was "outraged". Please provide where I was outraged. I was told I was nitpicking. Aren't we all at some point, particularly with rankings? Isn't that the point and shouldn't the author be aware that nitpicking is about to come their way? But then it gets to a personal attack which to me is a sure sign someone is either offended or triggered (your words not mine) or telling me I won the argument. Personal attacks during civil discussion in a discussion forum when they weren't warranted in the first place seems out of place and uncalled for. Especially when the personal attack wasn't provoked. I already apologized for anything you may have taken personal from my posts. Please point out where I did offend you. But if it is because they were long, well then I don't know what to tell you. I am trying to keep it brief. This one not so much. But here was the personal attack, "I’m just glad we put the “other reasons” why your family switched schools to bed." What purpose did it serve your argument about Roncalli to bring this up? ”Who wants to work on just one part of their offense?” This was a valid question, but you thought attacking me personally was a better answer to this question. ”I have nothing but love for the kids but animosity for the coaching staff.” And what is so hard to understand about this statement and what does this have to do with Roncalli once again.
