  1. They have quite a few guys going both ways. Coach Ralph does a good job of keeping the OL from getting too many defensive reps, but I have never seen a team so well conditioned for Iron Man football like I have seen New Pal's. Outside the first game of the season where cramps set in against Westfield, the team runs pretty deep and seems to not be phased about going both ways. I would say that about 5 or 6 right now go both ways regularly.
  2. I am not as familiar with East Central as I am Roncalli, but I have heard good things. After seeing how close the Mooresville game against Decatur Central was I believe Roncalli will definitely come out of that sectional unscathed. The Roncalli/East Central game is another "how do they measure" game for me. I am still learning about the teams in 4A.
  3. Their freshman team may be actually better than their JV. The right tackle went down Friday night and a freshman, who is already starting on the DL, stepped in and did a great job! Remember the name Brock Brownfield. May be another Ian Moore.
  4. I normally don't say look past anyone, but I do agree. Each game should be focusing on getting better for each playoff game. I know they are in a different section than prior years, but they can't look past anyone.
  5. It is so frustrating to watch. I know personally the talent on this Warrior team and these turnovers are not typical of these kids. I don't know what is going on, but this isn't the Warrior football I have seen from these classes, two of which I personally coached. If they get their stuff together and can stop beating themselves they really could go deep in the playoffs.
  6. New Pal is the favorite, but it is difficult for any team in their situation to stay focused. There is a lot of conference play yet and a lot could happen. If NP stays healthy, can finish conference play with running clocks, and Coach Ralph can keep them humble and eyes on the prize, but not looking past the Friday opponent up next, you are right no one can beat them. But 4A has some of the toughest competition out of all the classes. Roncalli is first and foremost the biggest challenge. Arguably an O line just as good as New Pals. I see them as the team to get out of that sectional. New Pal's section is a repeat of conference play which is always difficult to run through again. Honestly, New Pal is an extremely balanced team with few weaknesses. They have the traditional New Pal ground and pound run game behind probably the best O line in the state. They have a passing game that is just as good. They have a suffocating defense that is a turn over machine. New Pal's biggest opponent will be not beating themselves week in and week out.
  7. After seeing Yorktown and Mt Vernon playing New Pal, I'd say that Yorktown, outside of seeing GC yet, is the number 2 team in the conference. Their defense is pretty stout and agressive and flies to the ball. Outside of some poor tackling I'd say they are pretty good. The passing game and run game aren't too shabby either. I can see Yorktown making a run for second best record in the HHC.
  8. Yeah probably not. It will be Carmel if I am correct that Carmel is in the north this year.
  9. I am looking forward to the game time atmosphere at TSFF and New Pal game. It will be our family's first time and we hope for a New Pal victory. After watching Yorktown last week, they have a pretty good defense and a passing game that will wreck some HHC teams this year. Their receivers made some amazing catches. The only hesitancy I have is I am not very familiar with most of the conference teams defenses, particularly secondaries. I believe TSFF and GC will give them problems defensively if Yorktown can't get the running game going. Yorktown nearly abandoned the run game in the first half and cleared out the backfield putting the entire game on Mason Moulton's arm. For the most part he delivered until the second half when NP finally started playing Dragon football. He was 24-47 for 253 and 1 TD, but 4 INTs, 3 of them back to back in the third quarter. NP scored 4 TDs in 4:39 in the 3rd quarter as a result of those INTs. So the potential is there for Yorktown to do well for the rest of their conference schedule.
  10. 6A. Warren Central 5A. Whiteland 4A. New Palestine 3A. Chatard 2A. Scecina 1A. Lutheran
  11. Similar experience when we play Trinity a fews ago David Bell's last year. We won and broke a long home winning streak for Trinity Louisville.
  12. Maybe I am bias. Actually yes I am, but New Pal is playing on a 6A level right now. That O line is scary good and BIG. I don't even think it can be debated from tackle to tackle they are the best OL in the state. Not even close. Not to take anything away from Grayson and Tippit, but if (when) New Pal wins state it is 90% those guys. But not to forget the defense. We have some of the best backers and DL in the state as well. They are smart and aggressive and great tacklers. And the DBs are getting better every week. Really overall I have never seen a team as well coached and prepared as this team is. You can't out scheme the defense, you can take away the run game (doubt it), but then the passing game just steps up. They have too many threats and things to game plan for. Good luck to anyone who tries. Just like Center Grove the last two years, the only team that can beat New Pal is New Pal. I do look forward to the MV and GC games. I guess we will get a real sense of where they are this Friday.
  13. Luke Burgess committed to U of L. Ian Moore, Junior, has offers from Ohio State, Wisconsin, Duke, Florida State, UNC, The U of Miami, Purdue, Penn State, Western Michigan, etc. I know several other D1 schools are looking at him, including Alabama. I don't know of any other D1 offers for the other lineman, but I do know that Trey Keele was offered by DePauw and he will be getting more offers. Ben Purcivell and Tom Wood will be getting offers if they haven't already. And the 2nd team is pretty good too. Truly IMO the best OL in the state. I have seen against BD, Westfield, and Decatur Central and they have yet to be broken.
  14. I am very familiar with all of the top 5 teams and I will tell you without being able to be proven right or wrong (bc we will never know) New Pal can compete and beat anyone one of them. It is never a wrap till the last buzzer sounds on Thanksgiving weekend, but I like New Pal's chances.
  15. I am thinking Brownsburg 24 Cathedral 21. I could be wrong, but I will admit it if I am.
  16. Look I am not saying they are not talented. Cathedral typically reloads, not rebuilds. But the OL is the reason for skill players success 90% of the time. And that is usually what makes the difference in big games. La Jeff is no where near the caliber of teams that Cathedral will face in some of their games this year and definitely not in the playoffs. But I know Cathedral is well coached and will be prepared for anyone. How many are on Varsity roster btw?
  17. Those three are impressive. I know others that are just as good with D1 offers, but I'd be more impress if they had OL with D1 offers. Skill players are nothing without their OL. I know Danny and I know he'd say the same thing. So a team can have all the skill players they want, but without a line that can keep the defensive pressure to a minimum skill players won't be able to get the ball to do anything. Heck there are three D1 players on New Pals team, and I say they are some of the best in the state too, but two of those players are OL. I'd also argue that just because a kid has a D1 school or multiple ones following them, means the TEAM is going to be far superior. There are 22 guys on the field that have to do their jobs every play. There are some D1 players on Brownsburg too, and on defense. I just won't hang Cathedrals success on those three. I am happy for them and they are good, but far superior? That may be a stretch.
  18. I absolutely agree that those three are some of the best in the state at their positions, but they haven't been tested yet. Brownsburg's defense is pretty stout with some of the best at their positions there as well. I think the real question will be how Cathedral's defense does against the Brownsburg offense. Brownsburg did not score the entire second half against Ben Davis, but again that is Ben Davis for you. They don't quit and Coach Simmon's is great at making half time adjustments. I think the two are pretty well balanced. I think BHS edges CHS, but I see these two as making statements in the playoffs later on. It is one of my favorite games this week.
  19. I think Cathedral loses to Brownsburg tomorrow night. I don't think it will be a blowout, but I don't see anyone going undefeated this year and as the year progresses we will see some upsets out of the likes of like LN and LC too. They get better as the year progresses. So I see a tight MIC conference going against a tight Hoosier Crossroads Conference with Cathedral fitting right in the middle. I think it is all up in the air to be honest. Cathedral wasn't really tested against La Jeff. My son played their 2023 class as a freshman and we were up 41 points in the first half. So I wouldn't really say they were a show of Cathedral's ability. However, tomorrow night I think we will see them actually tested. I hope for a good game. Regardless the next state champ is coming out of Indy. Sorry southern and northern teams. No state title for y'all again this year. Maybe in... well honestly I don't see it any time soon.
  20. I think there are several that could. CG isn't as good as they were last year, and WC has to prove they can produce offensively which has been a challenge for the program since 2018. Ben Davis went against a really good Brownsburg team. Carmel I think is comparative to any of them losing to a really good Trinity team. CG struggled to get in the end zone until the 2nd half, which has been WCs MO for the last several years; very little offensive production so the defense is on the field too long and too much so wearing them down is inevitable. And we are talking about power rankings, not class rankings, so Merrillville could go above them, New Pall, Decatur Central, I'd even say LC and LN until WC can beat one of them, which they have struggled with both teams in the past two years. So yeah I'd say that there are several teams deserving of being above WC. Do I think they still have the potential to make a run? Yes, but they have to get the offense going and give the defense a rest.
  21. I agree. I love the Warriors, but they have got to prove themselves before they get a top 5 ranking. I think they would agree with that sentiment as well. But I could be wrong.
  22. Hopefully it will be a great game and a great measuring stick for New Pal. I am not so sure for Westfield because most will assume a 6A school should always beat a 4A school, but if New Pal does beat Westfield it is not because Westfield is not good. This New Pal team is loaded with talent.
  23. Looking forward to a good game and hopefully an upset in the end.
