I just went back and looked at the last 5 years of Carroll football and this is easily the worst team they have had. All of the Sullivan led teams were really good, offensively and defensively. Speed was abundant and they were 4-1 vs. Snider as well and Snider had some really good teams including a state title team. Memory sometimes slips, but the Becker led teams were pretty damn good as well. It has been the Snider/Carroll dominated conference for years and it will most likely continue for years to come. I will say I expected a lot more from Snider this year, but the issue with 19 players and the subsequent possible lawsuit has left the team not at full strength. You then have players who were expected to be major contributors has led to the current results.

I have been at the front of standing up for any team outside of Indy for years and years. There is some damn good football that is played outside of Indy in all classes. I have specifically touted Fort Wayne area teams and have beat the drum for them with anyone arguing against them. I have had many, many debates/discussions with knowledgeable people on this board. I would argue, and the facts would back it up, that outside of 6A teams, there is not a conference in this state that has produced multiple different classes of state title teams than the SAC. On certain occasions,Snider in particular, has had teams that that have competed on a level with an Indy team in 6A. This the first time in a long time that that the SAC doesn’t have a true state title contender in any class. Usually, we have Luers that, regardless of their regular season record, can compete for a state title. Don’t see it happening this year for them. Carroll, Snider, and Homestead are not contending for a state title in 6A this year. Forget about Northrop as well, shouldn’t even be mentioning in this anyways. North Side is not a threat in 5A either. Dwenger will be fortunate to possibly win a sectional title, but they are not a threat for a state title. I wish I was wrong 23andCounting as some of the best football in the state is played in Northeast Indiana, year in and year out, but not this year. I sincerely hope I am wrong and will gladly eat crow if I am. As most around here would say, I keep it real and as truthful as I can. If I think that Snider is bad, I will say it. If I think that Snider is the best team in the state regardless of class, I will say it. Go back and read the archives.

I picked East Noble to go to state last year so not sure who in the world thought Dwenger would beat them….

Have you watched Carroll over the last 5 years? Multiple SAC championships, multiple sectional titles, regional titles, and a semistate title and you are comparing this year’s Carroll team to those? Uh, ok…

It is a game I watched on summit city sports so I saw as much as you did. I don’t get it either you right now. Worst Carroll team in the last 5 years easily and yet you see them as a contender? Sigh…

Also reminds me of the IU/Purdue game last year when IU won 66-0 when it was said their was an actual football game played by 2 teams….

The love for Carroll this year is unwarranted. They are not that good. I am more impressed Snider played Warsaw even for the whole game than Carroll supposedly hanging with Center Grove, which they didn’t. Giving up 500 yards is not playing them tough. Again, this Is Carroll’s worst team in the last few years yet you are selling how good they are. Apparently hitting hard takes you from being an average team to a team hanging with the big boys…

Ok, I’ll go one by one here: Snider is way down this year, period Carroll is nowhere close to the team they were the last 4 years. How are they better this year? Dwenger beats Carroll 9-6, nuff said? Where is the offense? That makes 2 games out of 4 games Dwenger hasn’t scored a TD. Their offense was better the last few years when they were bad then it is this year when they are supposedly good… Make that make sense to me Northrop is the benefactor to how horrible the SAC is. Their best team in 25 years? What an accomplishment… North Side? Your analogy of their 2022 team being a state title caliber team is bonkers. Did they make it out of sectionals? No. End of discussion. This year’s team being great is based on what exactly? Who have they beaten? Sparty is good? Based on what? Beating Noblesville? Are they a state power? Didn’t think so… If Snider beats any of those above teams, your argument is mush. Frankly, even if Snider loses to all of them, where is a quality for each of those teams as of now?

And that translates to what in this game? Yes, they are getting experience and should have a good future as they get experience, but will it be with Luers or someone else? Look at the transfers Luers lost this year…

Leo is legit. The biggest issue I have with what you said was the winner of Dwenger/East Noble was going to state. Don’t see it. Look, I support Fort Wayne area teams as much as you do, but I got to be real with what I see. This is a poor year for this area. It just is

I really believe IU is going to beat Illinois handily. I just believe the Hoosiers are a better football team than Illinois. Home field plays a big role in this as well. 41-17 Hoosiers

Is it possible that Snider beats Northrop and or Northrop Side? Absolutely. Northrop has beaten Snider like 2 times in 40 years so based on history, Snider has a mental edge on the Bruins. The talent gap is usually highly in the Panthers favor, not so this year

Transitive scores mean squat. DeKalb lost to Angola by 8 points, Angola lost to West Noble by 14 points and we can go on and on. Leo is a good football team that has generally beaten East Noble over the past few years. Usually really close, high scoring games.

Leo and Columbia City are both in that sectional. I would certainly put Leo with East Noble and Dwenger and Columbia City is usually good as well. Leo plays East Noble in the next couple weeks so that will give better gauge

North Side will beat Luers by double digits, Knights offense is bad. North wins 20-7 Dwenger will beat Sparty as the Saints defense is pretty good. 21-10 Saints South Side should handle Wayne, South 19-6 Bruins crush Concordia, 49-7 Really think Carroll beats Snider handily, Chargers 28-10

Bad take my man. No way that is happening. Not sure either team wins that sectional to boot

Eh, I can’t get over East Noble needing a walk off touchdown to beat DeKalb. DeKalb is bad and has been for almost as long as Northrop. Most years, they were worse than Northrop. Dwenger has a good defense, but that offense is not good. Everyone can pile on and say how good they are, they ain’t. Carroll will win a bad sectional and get smoked in regionals. Nuff said. Warsaw beating Snider is looking more irrelevant by the day. They gave up 30 points to Snider!! 30 points!!!

Gotta call it like I see it. I am of the belief that this is Snider’s worst team since the 90’s. SAC is plain awful this year. There is no sugar coating it. Eye test don’t lie…

Let’s get the context here, Dwenger lost by 3 to Roncalli, you forget to mention they were shutout 3-0…. Didn’t score a TD if my memory is correct against Carroll so 2 games with zero TD’s… East Noble needing a walk off touchdown against DeKalb is a one off? Freaking Dekalb??!! Come on now!!! Warsaw has no defense, gave up 30 points to Snider who is offensively challenged to say the least.

Well, very unimpressive win over hapless Wayne last night. Very well could be their last win this year. They will be underdogs in their remaining 5 regular season games.

I think Fort Wayne area football this year is bad. The SAC is the worst it has been in at least 25 years and if Dwenger is the best we got, wow. East Noble I was decently high on until it took a walk off touchdown to beat DeKalb last night. DeKalb??!! Warsaw I thought had possibilities until I figured out that offensively challenged Snider put up 30 points on them. Adams Central is the best bet to make noise from the area.

Dude, I said Carroll is not all that. Neither is Dwenger. I think this might go down as one of the worst years of SAC football, certainly in the last 25 years
