  1. Boy, the Panther offense was clicking tonight against Homestead. This version of the Panthers is a serious contender for a state title. Having said that, the sectional is brutal with Dwenger and a very good North Side team awaiting them.
  2. Umm, just so you know, playing Snider, Homestead, Carroll, and Dwenger, year in and year out, and all 5A and 6A schools, is harder than what I have seen Andrean play on a consistent basis. Yes, Andrean plays good team, but just not the meat grinder of a schedule that Luers plays
  3. Norwell will give Chatard all they can handle should they meet in Regionals. The defense is very stout and I think they may beat East Noble and Columbia City, who are both good 4A schools.
  4. Any conversation about 2A state title talk has to start with Luers, regardless of their record. Nobody in 2A plays the schedule they play year in and year out and almost nobody in 2A has the athletes they have. Now, they don’t win the state title every year, but for anyone to dismiss them based on their regular season record is just not paying attention. Carry on…
  5. Carroll 35 -Dwenger 17 - Chargers are for real, really like their offense. Saints had a nice win over Homestead last week, but they will need a lot more than 14 points to hang with Carroll North Side 28 - Luers 20 - North has more numbers than the Knights and I think they will wear them down by the 4th quarter. Luers will be dangerous come playoff time though Northrop 27 - Concordia 20 - Tossup game from what I see. I expected more from the Cadets and have seen nothing from them so far while I already had low expectations for the Bruins. Coin flip says the Bruins Wayne 42 - South Side 12 - Biggest blowout of the week. Final score is whatever Wayne’s coaches want it to be Snider 35 - Homestead 24 - I think the Panthers roll in this one, just a more balanced team than Sparty. Final score will be closer than how the game is played Probably the most competitive week of the season in the SAC
  6. Can’t wait until the days Snider starts playing those 2 out of conference games where they are challenged and stops wasting time playing overmatched teams, like South Side, Concordia, Northrop, and Wayne. These games do nothing for them. Dwenger, Homestead, Carroll, and Luers are in the same boat as Snider.
  7. Snider 14-0, South goes 3 and out and the Panthers block the punt and get the ball at the 15 yard line, 2 plays later Haupert throws his second TD pass of the game
  8. Snider 7 - South Side 0, Panthers drive the field in 2 minutes, 10 minutes to go in the first quarter
  9. Carroll vs Northrop - The same old question heard round the Summit City, why is there more talent in Northrop’s hallways than on the football field? Carroll 49-14 Luers vs Concordia - Not that the Cadets showed me any reason against Snider, but I like them to keep this one closer than expected. Luers 31-21 Wayne vs North Side - The gauntlet is over for North (Dwenger, Snider, Carroll) to open the season, maybe a little letdown this week. North Side 42-21 Dwenger vs Homestead - On paper, the most competitive game of the week, I get the feeling that Sparty may run away with this one. Homestead 38-20 Snider vs South Side - The final score will be whatever the Panthers coaches want it to be. Soapbox here, this game is the exact reason why I am glad that starting next year, SAC teams start playing 2 out of conference games to start the year. I honestly can’t remember the last time Snider lost to South Side, maybe the 1970’s. Snider 49-0
  10. Wanted to know what others think of the QB play so far. It is not often you have a QB that is a varsity starter for 3 years and those are years that you really have to take advantage of a 3 year starter. I think playing 2 really good teams so far has hindered his numbers and the line pass protection has not been good, but I was thinking we would see more out of that position so far. Any thoughts?
  11. I wouldn’t disagree with your assessment as other posters are saying there is a near mutiny at Wayne right now between player, coaches, and parents.
  12. I appreciate your candor sir!!! Here is what I will say about Luers, always been a fan of them and root for them come playoff time. I think this is one of their least talented teams in awhile and, quite frankly, they don’t have the players in quality and quantity to deal with those 5A and 6A teams this year. That doesn’t mean they can’t make a run come playoff time
  13. I would take that bet every day of the week and 2 times on Sunday!!! Luers still has Snider, Dwenger, Homestead, and North Side left and there isn’t any way they get thru that gauntlet with only 1 loss. I would be surprised if they get 1 win vs. those teams.
  14. North Side vs. Carroll - Very nice win for North Side against Dwenger and they also played Snider tough in week 1, brutal 3 game stretch for them. To me, Carroll looks like the best team in SAC, well balanced on both sides of the ball. I believe the Chargers get a break as North runs out of gas having played Snider, Dwenger, and Carroll to open the season. Carroll 42-21 Northrop vs. Wayne - Similarly talented teams, I have more faith in a Haydock led then a new coach led team. Wayne 28-13 South Side vs. Dwenger - Blowout city, whatever the Saints want the score to be. Dwenger 49-6 Homestead vs. Luers - Not sure what others are seeing in Luers possibly winning this game, not going to happen. Homestead 42-14 Concordia vs. Snider - No disrespect to the Cadets, but they are not North Side or Carroll who the Panthers played the first 2 weeks. I think the Panthers run the ball down the Cadets throats at will while Concordia will flash some decent speed against Snider. Snider 42-14
  15. I certainly didn’t see this game as evenly matched at all. I thought Carroll controlled the line of scrimmage and did pretty much whatever they wanted offensively. They are the clear favorite in the SAC. The other 4 teams are good and, damn, Snider, North Side, and Dwenger in the same sectional is brutal, but there is absolutely a good chance Snider is out in the first round of sectionals which would be a sad way for Haupert to end 3 years as a starting QB without a sectional title. Love my Panthers, but the days of winning a sectional title as a fore gone conclusion seem to be over
  16. Tough loss for the Panthers, actually kept it closer than I thought they would. Offensive line got consistently beat by Carroll’s defensive line, no time for Haupert to throw, and the defense just didn’t get stops like they needed to. On the positive side, Carroll looks like the best team in SAC and is a 6A team that could make some noise in the tourney.
  17. Big game this week. I really liked what I saw from Carroll last week, they were good. On the other hand, I didn’t like what Snider did against North Side offensively. With a 3 year starter in Haupert at QB, I expected more, zero points in the 2nd half just doesn’t cut it. Defensively, I thought the Panthers were decent, not great. Lots of emotion in this game….
  18. But, but, but, Bobref has NEVER seen a suspension overturned. Blasphemy I say!!!!
  19. Have to say, I was not at all impressed with Snider against North Side. Yes, North Side is better than they have been for awhile, but a really good team beats the Legends handily. We will see what the Panthers are made of this week vs. Carroll as I think they are the SAC favorites this year
  20. Dwenger vs. North Side - This game is the hardest to pick this week, I am leaning towards the longtime power, think QB Campbell is the difference, Dwenger 35-24 Luers vs. Wayne - Most years, this is an easy pick, not this year, Wayne 20-13 South Side vs. Northrop - Another tossup, think the Bruins have a little more talent on both sides of the ball, Northrop 28-20 Hpnestead vs. Concordia - I like the Cadets against teams their size, not against the 6A Spartans, Homestead 42-14 Snider vs. Carroll - I think the Panthers are in trouble against Carroll in this game, the Chargers were the most impressive team I saw last week and I believe they are the favorite in the SAC this year, Carroll 35-21
