  1. Ok, I was a freshman in 1981 and I went to the Snider/Carmel game. Think we had about 3 fan buses that went. It was cold and rainy, brutal weather, totally negated the speed advantage we had Dunbar team was fantastic, right at the top of all time best Panther teams
  2. It did impact the game, personal foul, untimed down from the 7 yard line. In my opinion, Valpo would have scored a TD to win the game
  3. Fair enough. When I think of the 1981 team with Woodson, the great mystery to me is that not only did they not win the state championship, but they lost 27-0 at Carmel in the pouring rain in semi-state if memory serves me correctly. I will never understand how that happened… What year was the Vaughn Dunbar team? I just can’t remember…
  4. When thinking of the best all time teams at Snider, do the state title teams get special designation and move up the list or not? In my opinion, that hardware means something… Love this list!!! 1981 team featured all time great Rod Woodson
  5. So I made a comment in the Luers vs LCC thread that this year’s Knights team wasn’t even in the top 15 of all time Luers teams so it got me thinking about this year’s Snider team and where they stack up all time amongst all time Snider teams. Wanted to go others thoughts on this…
  6. Well, having read the region sports board from the link above, some quotes are out there: 1. Merrillville’s defense is far superior to Snider - Wow, that is quite a statement. Not sure what games that poster watched of Snider, but the Panthers defense is pretty good. Must be the 11 D-1 starters on defense for the Pirates… 2. Snider hasn’t seen speed like Merrillville - Uh, Snider plays plenty of speed teams. FYI, Snider has plenty of speed as well… 3. The real state title game was Valpo vs. Merrillville - Let’s see how that plays out… Pretty damn sure Snider isn’t going to lay down against the Pirates and whoever comes out of the South is pretty damn good as well… It is only Tuesday so let’s see what else is said from the Region…
  7. Luers, when they have a really good team, has shown the ability to compete with and beat 4, 5, and 6A teams. That is not hyperbole, that is fact. This year’s team is not on that level, but they are able to compete with and beat 2A teams
  8. Laughable. Love to compare resumes on Snider and Merrillville and one team is woefully short of the other. Have to say, I don’t believe in bulletin board material, especially when it is some poster sitting in his parents basement, eating his boogers, and living off his parents. If it were a player or coach that makes a statement, then it becomes bulletin board material.
  9. This is not the typical Luers juggernaut when they get to this level. Usually, they overmatch most 2A teams, I just don’t see that talent level for them this year. They work hard and play hard, but they don’t have that stud athlete like in years past. This is a more workman like team
  10. Again, Luers was flat out overmatched against East Noble and New Haven. Very good 2A team vs a really good 4A team, East Noble, and a good 4A team in New Haven. As bad as those games were, Snider and Carroll would have run wild on the Knights. Bad SAC after Snider and Carroll this year, period Having said that, LCC is a longtime powerhouse at this level. I have Luers as a slight favorite in this game
  11. Here is how I see this game: 1. Luers defense is pretty good unless you have quality speed 2. Luers offense is methodical in nature. They do throw the ball, but overall, ball control seems to be their thing 3. At the 2A level, Luers is more than capable of beating anyone in 2A. Things get skewed for Luers when they play 4, 5, and 6A teams that are real quality teams. Anyone that thinks Luers is overmatched against anyone in 2A is fooling themselves I see this game as a close game that is decided by 7 points or less
  12. Fair enough. I agree with you about both teams, I would say this Luers team is not even top 10 all time at Luers, maybe not even top 15
  13. I always enjoy seeing your posts. You call it like you see it. No sandbagging, like BTF Holtz, and you are honest about what you see
  14. I have to agree with Bob, watching it live I thought it was a personal foul on Merrillville. Dangerous contact on a defenseless player. If you watch the video, the Merrillville players were expecting a flag after the hit, they knew it was coming, but it never did
  15. Luers has benefitted greatly this year without playing Carroll or Snider. Had they played those 2 teams, I honestly believe you would have seen 56-7 losses in both for Luers. Luers did rebound from getting thrashed by East Noble and had a good conference season sans playing the top 2 teams. Just my opinion here, I see Luers as a slight favorite against LCC. Thinking a 21-14 type of game. LCC better keep contain on Luers though or else that speed will get you…
  16. Snider packed 9 in the box against Mishawaka daring them to throw the ball and they hurt Snider passing the ball. Snider obviously made the decision that they weren’t going to let Mishawaka run the ball at will and kill the clock. It worked as Snider controlled time of possession and drove the ball between the 20’s, they just didn’t finish in the red zone. Snider’s pass defense was actually pretty good this year. As for the Merrillville D-1’ers, lots of team speed, not a great passing QB, and no beast running back bodes well for the Panthers. Defensively, Merrillville has good linemen, decent linebackers, and fast but leaky secondary. I think the magic number for Snider is 21 points, anything more than that and they win, less than that and it’s anyone’s game.
