  1. I think WL was ranked 8th in 1950 when they played Jeff. 8-0 Jeff played 8-0 WL on November 9, 1950. 7000 fans showed up for the game despite snow flurries and bitter winds. Jeff scored on a 76 yard pass play from Bill Bone to Carl Braun in the 1st. WL scored on a 6 yard run by Bill Ellis in the 3rd. WL was called for a penalty on the extra point, and the longer extra point was missed. Jeff won 7-6. The bad weather might have hurt Jeff's great passing game, so its hard to say if the 42 team or the 50 team was better. I'm going with the 1950 team. That penalty caused WL to miss the extra point. The game could have ended in a tie and WL Would have been ranked higher. I talked to someone that played on the 1950 Jeff football team. I told him the WL players thought the refs made a bad call on that extra point try. He said to me, "Oh Boo Hoo."
  2. Here are the WL 1943 Season Results. The SB Washington game was to be for the State Championship. 39 Indy Washington 0 21 Hoopeston, IL 0 14 Lafayette Jeff 0 20 Peru 0 41 Frankfort 0 27 Monticello 2 14 Lafayette Jeff 0 25 Crawfordsville 7 0 SB Washington 27
  3. I think some of the South Bend teams were better than WL in 1942. WL did beat Jeff 6-0 on Oct. 2, 1942, but Indy Shortridge also beat Jeff 13-7 in 1942. Frankfort was the team that scored on WL that year. WL beat Frankfort 20-6. In 1942 there was a mix up and WL played a very bad Monticello team twice. WL beat Monticello 72-0 on Oct. 9, and had to play them again on November 6. WL won that game 53-0
  4. I think the best team WL ever had was the 1950 team. Jeff was number 1 in the state and WL played them the last game of the season and almost beat them. The score was 7-6. The score of the game tonight will probably be 42-6.
  5. How many children does Danny Anthrop have? Maybe he will have about 5 boys and Jackson can have 5 boys. That's what its going to take for LCC to beat WL.
  6. I hope so! Its not much fun when WL beats everyone in the Conf. by 30+ points. LCC/Tipton should be a good game. With both teams 1-3, nobody is going to say much about the game
  7. From 1971-1990 LCC was 2-18 vrs WL. LCC won in 1976 and 1989. This normal is worse than the last normal. Check out the scores! 1977 - WL 7 LCC 0 1978 - WL 29 LCC 6 1979 - WL 21 LCC 6 1980 - WL 13 LCC 0 1981 - WL 22 LCC 0 1982 - WL 14 LCC 0 1983 - WL 33 LCC 6 (LCC 0-10 in 1983) 1984 - WL 60 LCC 0 1985 - WL 35 LCC 6 1986 - WL 20 LCC 0 1987 - WL 31 LCC 13 1988 - WL 23 LCC 6 2017 - WL 49 LCC 0 2018 - WL 34 LCC 0 2019 - WL 50 LCC 0 2020 - WL 47 LCC 14 2021 - WL 43 LCC 7 2022 - WL 52 LCC 21 2023 - WL 37 LCC 7
  8. The record is 12 years from 1977-1988. Most of those games in the 1970's and 80's against WL were competitive. The games the last 7 years have not been close. HH will probably get WL. Maybe Indy Lutheran should play WL this year, that would be a good game.
  9. MY "OH MY" Teams of the week are all the teams in the Hoosier Conf., except Hamilton Heights and West Lafayette. When WL lost to Harrison 42-6, it looked like WL might not be as great this year as they were in past years.. It looks like you don't have to be that good to beat most of the teams in the Hoosier Conf. There used to be a lot of good teams, like Tipton and Rensselaer, in the Hoosier. Tipton had not scored a point the last two weeks and LCC has only scored 7 points the last two weeks. WL has beaten LCC the last 7 years. WL only beat LCC 37-7 this year. That is one point better than last year when WL won 52-21. Rensselaer, Benton Central and Tipton, OH MY!
  10. This is the worst Terre Haute team I have ever seen. It looks like Terre Haute North will be 0-10 this year. Bloomington South beat THN 66-0. Bloomington South is good, but 66-0. My other "OH MY" Team is East Central. They beat Moeller 38-28. Ben Davis beat Moeller 49-28. East Central is not as good as Ben Davis, but it doesn't look good for the rest of 4a. East Central should win state again, unless something crazy happens. If anyone else has an "OH MY" team, post it. This is just for fun! Anything could happen! Terre Haute North could turn it around, and some other team could win state in 4A.
  11. I think these two teams are about even. I will say Brownsburg wins by a point. If I say that, then maybe Cathedral will win. This will probably be the best game of the week.
  12. I think this is probably the best team Harrison has had in years, and this is the worst team WL has had in years. Harrison was tired of getting beat by WL and took it to them. I'm not saying WL is a bad team, but they are not as good as they have been. There have been many times when a good NFL player, like George K, comes through the system and a team can ride that for 6-8 years and then they cool off. WL might be in the cooling off period.
  13. WL lost a lot of players from last year. LCC just might give WL a game this year.
  14. I think it will be about the same as last year. I think Cathedral wins 42-14.
  15. I knew you were just giving me a hard time. lol Merry Christmas to you and your family!
  16. I don't know the number of Catholics that went to Jeff in the 1980's and 1990's, so I don't know if there are more or less today. There are many Catholics at Jeff that don't play football. I just know a lot of Catholics that went to Jeff over the years and some of them were very good baseball, football, and basketball players.
  17. No, I didn't think I should be talking about this sort of thing on here. I can talk more about the Catholic church if you are interested.
  18. All the names I put on here were Catholic and played or coached at public schools, mostly at Lafayette Jeff. The only one that got a blue ring and medal was the Jeff baseball coach when Jeff won state in 1969 and 1973. Many Catholics don't go to LCC, they go to Jeff. Jeff must have really had an advantage before 1958 when all the Catholic boys in Lafayette had to go to Jeff.
  19. Northern football is good, but not as good as they were years ago. Gary and South Bend had the best teams in the state for many years. Its a good thing Valpo won 5a or we would all be singing "Song of the South" by "Alabama"
  20. All the names I have put on here were Catholic at one time. I don't know if they still are Catholic. A lot of people leave the Church.
  21. Clayton Richard was Catholic. PM me if you want to know how I know he was Catholic.
  22. All-State Football Players for Lafayette Jeff that were Catholic and members of St. Lawrence church. Jason Sowders 1992 Brett Rhatigan 2000 McCutcheon All-State Player that was Catholic Clayton Richard 2000, 2001, 2002 LCC could have used all of those players. Someday I might have a complete list. I'm sure there are 100 other names that I don't know about right now.
  23. I know Lafayette Jeff has an advantage with all of those Catholics going to Jeff.
  24. LCC has no advantage. They had bad teams for years. Many Catholics in the area go to Jeff. About every 10 years they have some good players come through the system. I think public schools have gone down hill in the past 50 years, and the Catholic schools haven't changed. LCC can't seem to beat WL. Maybe we should just get rid of class sports. That might make everybody happy. LCC is in 2a and if they went to 3a they would probably never win. But that's what some people want.
  25. Here are some more Catholics that lived in Lafayette in the 1980's and 90's and ended up at Jeff. Denise Knoth Veronica Knoth Julie Jacot Kristina Brickler Brian Koning Rob Larrabee Monica, Michelle, and David Matheson Tony Roswarski Terry Ruppe Laurie, Shawn and Pat Rody Ryan Rush John Deerr (He was QB for the Jeff football team in 1943) Like I said before, Lafayette Jeff can thank the Catholics for their success in sports. I always wonder how good LCC would have been if all those Catholics didn't go to Jeff. It was said in Lafayette during the 1940's, that if the Catholics ever had their own school they could beat Lafayette Jeff.
