Tournament History Question
Tippy replied to cpg1970's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
In the cluster system, if 3 or more teams tied, they participated in a mini playoff the Saturday following the last regular season game. The IHSAA determined the pairings for the tied teams by a blind draw, and the format for overtime games was used. Some teams could lose one cluster game finish 9-1 and not make the playoffs. -
Tournament History Question
Tippy replied to cpg1970's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
In 1981 and 1982 four teams advancing in each of 12 districts made it on the basis of total rating points accumulated for the season. In 1983 and 1984 they had the cluster system. LCC was in a cluster with Attica, Clinton Prairie and Seeger. They only team LCC could beat in 1983 and 1984 was Seeger. Lafayette Jeff was in cluster 9 with Anderson, Kokomo, Logansport and Marion. McCutcheon and Harrison were in a cluster with Brownsburg, Frankfort, Lebanon and North Montgomery. WL coach Ernie Beck and LCC coach Keith Lehnen liked the idea of the cluster system. Lafayette Jeff coach Dave Knott did not like the cluster system. -
You were only 62 students off. In 1968 LCC had 595 students. In 1978 LCC had 382 students. In 1987 LCC had 230 students. Delphi had 673 students in 1978. Maybe that's why Delphi was able to beat LCC in 1976.

I think foxbat and LCCAlum are closer to it than I am. I think WL and LCC matchup really well this year. Most of LCC's best players are Seniors. Bobby Metzger, Jackson Cain, Hudson Gutwein, Aj Delgatto, Charlie Seaburg, and Andrew Siemers are a big part of LCC's team. LCC will have to show that they can move the ball, so they can keep the defense off the field. It's going to be 90 degrees Friday and WL has more players. LCC will have to stop Dawson Martin. David Curl is WL's best player on defense. On defense, LCC can't give WL any 1, 2 and 3 play drives for a td. They will have to make WL drive the ball down the field and hope they make a mistake. Metzger can't throw a pick six. He has been known to do that in some games. I think he threw 2 interceptions against Twin Lakes.
-
I think WL will win 28-14. WL only scored 34 on Ren. LCC will probably never beat a good WL team 30-0 like they did in 1969, but LCC had about 600 students in 1969.

Riverton Parke - This could by one of the best RP teams ever. They beat Fountain Central 46-6, and they had never beaten FC by more than 20 points. Fountain Central is down and Riverton Parke is up. Fountain Central leads the series 36-8. I never thought I would see Riverton Parke beat FC like that. "Oh My" Cascade - Cascade is 4-0 and this could be their best team since 2006. They have had 3 winning seasons since 2006. Cascade beat North Montgomery 42-22. I don't know what is going on? "OH My" Wabash - Another year is here and Wabash High school has a bad football team. They lost to Peru 48-14 last Friday. Wabash has had 3 winning seasons since 1977. They were 6-5 in 2020, 7-3 in 2015 and 7-4 in 1996. Wabash had good football teams in the 1930's- 1950's. They had a really good team in 1950 and in 1920 they went 8-0. Since 2000, Wabash has been 0-10 eight times. They will probably beat Whitko this year. Whitko has won 2 games since 2020. "Oh My"

I think WL will win by about 10-14 points. I would be disappointed if LCC lost by 30 points again this year. I think LCC will go 7-2 and win the sectional. Even when LCC has a good team, its hard for them to beat WL. That's why WL leads the series 37-16. WL has shut out LCC 17 times.

If there is an Anthrop in the group, then help is on the way. 🙂

This should be the most exciting LCC/WL game since 2016, when LCC beat WL 28-25. WL has won the last 7 games and leads the series 37-16. This is the 54th meeting between the two schools. They have played every year since 1959, except for 1995 and 1996 and 2001-2010. It is always hard for LCC to beat WL. Even when LCC won state in 1976, LCC only beat WL 12-6 in (2OT). WL went 5-5 in 1976. October 2, 1976 - It was Homecoming at LCC and Tom Weber scored the TD in the 2nd overtime for LCC. Troy Burgess had 110 yards rushing in the game for LCC. LCC 0-6-0-0-0-6 WL 6-0-0-0-0-0 The largest margin of victory for LCC over WL was in 1994. LCC won 38-7 that year. WL went 0-9 in 1994. Elsner was the QB for LCC. Kevin Sanson, Matt Buche, Tom Vaughan, and Nick Rooze scored for LCC in that game. LCC had 234 yards rushing against WL in 1994. LCC 12-13-7-6 WL 0-7-0-0 The most impressive win over WL was in 1969. LCC went 10-0 that year beat WL 30-0. That was the only loss for WL in 1969. That was the 14th straight win for LCC when they beat WL. WL only had 26 yards rushing in that game. Delaney had a 65 yard put return for LCC. Dewenter and Mills were the QB's for LCC and Metzinger was the Fullback. LCC 0-16-0-14 WL 0-0-0-0

The 2024 Let's Run Up the Score! Thread - week #4
Tippy replied to Muda69's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
His methodology doesn't make any more sense today than it did 15 years ago. LCC plays Benton Central in a few weeks, and will soon be a multi-week offender. Seeger is already a muti-week offender and LCC doesn't want Seeger to get too far in front of them. 🙂 -
Twin Lakes lost 2 games in 1982, and both of them were to McCutcheon. Kevin O'Shea was the QB for McCutcheon in 1982. McCutcheon beat Twin Lakes 16-13 at Twin Lakes for the Regional Championship, and went on to the state championship game.

This Friday Twin Lakes will come to LCC. Twin Lakes is much better than last year. LCC beat Twin Lakes last year 43-0 and 49-7 the year before. In 2015 LCC beat Twin Lakes 65-2. But in the 1980's Twin Lakes had some really good teams. On September 17, 1982, LCC played at Twin Lakes in a persistent rain. There were 2000 people at the game. Twin Lakes beat LCC on that night 54-0. LCC turned the ball over 8 times and only had 4 first downs in the game. For the final 15 minutes of the game, the clocked stopped only when the ball went out of bounds. LCC had minus 15 yards rushing. The LCC coach said the Knights stunk the place up. When LCC beats Twin Lakes this Friday, the Twin Lakes fans can think about 1982. It must have been a long trip back to Lafayette that night. TW 14-21-19-0 LCC 0-0-0-0

Union County has been outscored 200-0 in their first 3 games. Concord scored 35 points on Mishawaka. Penn only scored 7 on Mishawaka, but did score 49 points on Valpo. I wonder how many points Concord could score on Valpo? South Newton scored 40 points on Benton Central. Lake Station did a better job against South Newton, and the Illinois Home school beat Lake Station 22-0. Just how bad is Benton Central? Chatard scored 58 on Brebeuf but only scored 9 on Roncalli. Munster hasn't scored a point in their first 3 games.

The 2024 Let's Run Up the Score! Thread - week #3
Tippy replied to Muda69's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
LCC beat Seeger 55-6 in week 1 and Seeger is a multi-week offender. "Oh MY" -
Thanks! I will post everything when I'm done. I just haven't had much time to work on them.
-
LCC hasn't played Logansport since they played them in the rain on Halloween in 1969. LCC won that game 30-20 and went 10-0 that year. Pat Doyle's 75 kickoff return in the 2nd quarter put LCC up 22-6 in that game. LCC leads the series 2-1. LCC lost to Logansport in 1967, 14-12 after being up 12-0 in that game. Logansport is a much better team this year than last year, but I think LCC wins this game by 10 points just like in 1969.

2024 Hoosier Conference
Tippy replied to CoachDurham's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
No, they opened with Merrillville and Crown Point in 2022 and 2021. They have played Merrillville the first or 2nd game of the season as far back as 2009. Valpo doesn't look that great so far, because Penn doesn't look that great. I think LCC has a good chance to beat Andrean this year. -
2024 Hoosier Conference

Andrean is 0-2 and they usually don't win state when they start 0-2. There is still a lot of football to be played. -
2024 Hoosier Conference
Tippy replied to CoachDurham's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
LCC has a great shot to go 7-2 this season and end up back in the Semi-state, but this time they will probably be playing Adams Central. -
Benton Central - BC has been bad for a long time, but Seeger beat them 51-2. They seem to be worse than usual. LCC beat Seeger 55-6. LCC plays Benton Central on October 11. "OH MY" Attica - Attica has lost 30 games in a row. They lost to Tri-County 44-7 on Friday. Covington beat Tri-County 25-20. I wonder who will win the Attica/Covington game this year. This is ridiculous! Brown County - Brown County won 1 game the last 2 years. This year they are 2-0. This might be their best team in years. "OH My" Congrats to Brown County. If you have an "OH MY" team this week, post it.

Why are LCC and Ritter not finishing their game today like many of the others? Is it too far for Ritter to make the trip back up to Lafayette?
-
They might not be able to finish the game tonight. They are showing storms in the area at 8:30pm.

USA Today Network media poll Week 2
Tippy replied to crimsonace1's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I would say about another 18 years. Snider has been waiting 32 years to win the largest class in football and Penn has been waiting 24 years. -
My "OH MY" scores of the week!

That probably had a lot to do with it. It's going to be a long year for Highland. -
My "OH MY" scores of the week!
Tippy replied to Tippy's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Yeah, Its been awhile since we played Ritter. We beat them in 1997, 30-8. Ritter spoiled LCC's Homecoming 42-6 in 1983 and Ritter beat LCC 27-0 in 1984. But those were bad years for LCC. I think LCC could be unbeaten when they play WL this year.
