It was a Cg jv game and the team they where playing I will not name because it seems you can  not say anything bad about them and I do not want to get into trouble.

JV is done for the year, Cathedral wouldn’t get in trouble, nor do I think anyone would care at this point.

Yeah I think New Palestine is the favorite but I also think Whiteland is very capable of beating them.

What’s sad though is how weak 5A south is. The two best teams are in sectional 13: Cathedral and Decatur Central. Regional and semi-state will be a cakewalk for the winner (a.k.a. Cathedral).

And Cathedral beat DC 56-7 🥴. As you were saying, Cathedral will running clock everyone in the south, maybe even in the state championship.

This would be the case if they win, correct? I was thinking about that and looked at the standings. Even if Floyd beats them next week, they'd be 5-1 in conference and Floyd would only be 4-1. So NA clinches if they beat Seymour. Right?

As long as New Albany won tonight the worst they can do is share the HHC Title..

I believe Columbus East won 96 consecutive Hoosier Hills games from 2006 until their loss against Seymour this year.

@Olympian06may be able to give more specifics

Correct, earlier this year East lost to Seymour which ended a 96 game conference win streak and a 107 game win streak against opponents from the conference (including the playoffs).

East is also on a 17 year Conference Title streak that will likely end this year, 2006 was the only shared title in that streak.

Guess we can turn our attention to the sectional draw this Sunday

. That's all the high school football we get this weekend i guess....

@Olympian06 can you tell me which columbus republic guy will be tweeting updates on cn this weekemd? I've had it with b town newspaper and radio guys. Also is sam.simmermaker  calling this Friday's cn game also on radio?

Hey MD, I’ll get you a name so you can follow, also, usually if you YouTube “BCSC Corporation” they usually have a live stream of the game.

Definitely a headscratcher. From an individual standpoint, that might have been the most talented Cathedral team ever. Pete Werner (Ohio State/NFL), Emil Ekiyor (Alabama/soon to be NFL), and Markese Stepp although injured (USC/Nebraska) were all on that team.

This was the team that couldn’t hold onto the ball against CE in the semi-state right? That was probably Columbus East’ 2nd best team ever.

Yes, the season certainly hasn't been on an upswing as it progresses although we have won games except for this past weekend, and as I pointed out in a previous post, the secondary continues to have the same problems and isn't getting any better. It was an all-new defense personnel-wise when the season started, so the fact we had an area that maybe wasn't up to par was probably to be expected. I guess we need to get more pressure on the QB to help them out, but that's easier said than done. I don't know why we even scheduled Hammond Morton except that maybe both schools had an opening on that date and couldn't find another school to fill it. That would have been a long way to go to play a high school football game for Morton, and I assume they would have traveled down on Friday for what was supposed to be a Saturday game.

What’s even more laughable is Morton scheduling Cathedral.. it’s a complete waste of time for both schools and nothing comes out of it except maybe some Cathedral players that wouldn’t normally get a lot of playing time, get some playing time.

Pretty sure that exact topic was discussed at state AD’s conference last weekend and it came straight from the horse’s mouth.  I will check with my AD buddies, but I know that’s what they told me.

Doesn’t matter, This game should have never been played. Was a waste of time for both schools and anyone involved knew the outcome of this.. This game could have been 180-0 if Lawrenceburg wanted it to happen.
