5A Tournament: OFFICIAL Thread
23andCounting replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
No no. You need to go back and read my posts. I guess I'll say it again. I've got New Pal winning, but getting off to a slow start. Anything other than that doesn't warrant an "I told you so." Sometimes I think you say things to curb your appetite for a debate. I did say I wouldn't be surprised a morsal of an iota if Cathedral won. So yeah, I guess I could come back and play the "I told you so card." However, I'm more likely to come back and admit defeat than I am to toot my own horn after victory. You see Temp, my trash talking could make Larry Bird look like chump change. But I'll be the first to shake your had afterward and congratulate you for kicking my a**. -

So they should still smash Homestead by 35. -

New Pal is good, no doubt. I just keep thinking about the brick wall they ran into in 2015. I see something similar happening on Friday night.............still have them winning it though. -
Temp’s Top 25 (After Week 10)

I imagine HSE is good enough to beat Homestead with their backup QB. I have them as a 28-35 point favorite healthy. I say they still win the game by 10-14. Lol, good grief. I think you're just f***ing with me on purpose now. -

With their staring QB in, and Carroll's best offensive weapon out, HSE won at home by 7. Subtract HSE's QB, add Carroll's best player, and you still have HSE as potentially a 3 point favorite? Let's just say Carroll by three. Any chance of that at all? -

Good stuff. It's one thing to think in your hear that Fishers is better than Carroll. All I'm saying, is that if you were on a committee, there's no way to justify giving them a higher seed. See my new thread in Next Level. -
I'll start off with a couple of thoughts: IU: Not sure how they won't be #1 in the first poll. This will piss Ohio State fans off. But how does a committee member look at both team's body of work and put the Buckeyes over the Hoosiers? Ohio State state has a good win over Texas by 7 points at home. IU beats Oregon on the road by 10. Ohio State beats Illinois by 18. IU beats Illinois by 53. IU has two victories over conference opponents by 50+ points. That hasn't been done since Clemson did it in 2018ish. Cut and dry: IU should be #1. ND: Lots of whining and crying out of the SEC stating that a two loss ND team shouldn't jump a two loss SEC team. Using transitive property, ND manhandled Arkansas, whereas the Razorback's SEC counterparts are barely beating them in one score games..............including A&M. The Irish are easily one of the top 12 teams in the country.

I saw that, but looking at your last picks, I didn't think you were being serious. -
It's a rough world out there. Every university thinks they are entitled to a Curt Cignetti. Oh well, I guess it's just IU's turn to dominate the sport. They'll be a household name and the benchmark to follow in a few short years. Every coach in the nation knows they are on thin ice because of what this guy has done.

SAC - Round 2

I too was surprised at how easily West Noble dispatched Concordia, thinking maybe the Cadet's schedule would have prepared them better. Maybe after the season Concordia had, the kids just pretty much threw up the white flag. Who knows, all speculation. We know they have a pretty good coach though. No matter how good your quarterback is, you still have to be able to coach to get that blue ring. I just think the fight for talent in Fort Wayne is pretty fierce, and Concordia is at the bottom of the list. I will say this though, Concordia is a great school to send your kids, and I'd argue the best in Northeast Indiana. That's where my kid would go, good football player or otherwise. -

SAC - Round 2

Well, there's been a lot of talk lately, at all levels, that a coach is only as good as his quarterback. When Concordia won state that year, they had this kid named Peter Morrison. Head coach was Tim Mannigel. He had some solid teams, took a one year break in 2021 before coming back. They were pretty bad in 2021, and Mannigel just hasn't been able to get them back to where he had them. Reason? No idea. But it does seem like the better athletes in Fort Wayne are bouncing around from team to team. North Side and Northrop seem to winning the recruiting wars as of late. No one really says "I want to send my kid to Concordia" to play football. They say that about Snider, Luers, Dwenger, Carroll, and Homestead. Suddenly Northrop is getting their lions share of athletes, took two from Luers this past season. It's a free for all. -

It's not just you. It's the overall vibe from the Indy posters. I guess if I'm being fair, I should keep better tabs. Maybe I'm being unfair to the masses in Central Indiana. Crown Point lost their top RB and QB from last year, that's fair. What if I told you Carroll played HSE this year without their best offensive player, would that count for anything? -

SAC - Round 2

Carroll at Elkhart - Although not a bad team, I thought Travon Curry's team would be a little stronger than what they are in his second season. They're not ready for NE Indiana's marquee program. Carroll wins 38-14 Snider at Northrop - Give a program like Snider two weeks to prepare, and they are sure to close the 21 point gap that separated these two a few weeks back. In the end, the Bruins just have more talent than Snider. Northrop wins 28-17. HSE at Homestead - This is really just a tune-up game for HSE. It's not a matter of if, but by how much. Homestead just flat out struggles against Indy's better teams. HSE wins this one 35-7. North Side at Goshen - Speaking of tune-ups, if North is on top of their game, this should be a blowout. Lets say North 39-14. South Side at East Noble - South Side is showing improvement under Andre Goodwell, but this team isn't anywhere read for what they are going to face in Kendallville on Friday...............I'm feeling like East Noble takes this one 42-13. Columbia City at Dwenger - The Eagles look good against the bad teams and bad against the good teams. Friday night will be bad for Columbia City. This one screams Dwenger 35-0. Norwell at Luers - This won't be much of a game, not much else to say. Luers 35-7 -

I can live with that. See @FastpacedO, you're pretty much alone there. Two blowout losses my man. No way, no how Fishers gets a two seed. Using transitive property (Pike), Crown Points fits in nicely with the Indy teams. A two touchdown win over Merrillville isn't exactly bad. This seeding conversation is over. -

Were you or were you not referring to brackets? No, you can keep your Suburban Indy teams, the North doesn't want them. -

At least I'm seeing some reason here. You can have you're opinion all you want, both you and @Rodney on the outcomes. But I rest my case in seeding CP over Fishers.
