I woder if Clemson folks think the same thing as well. They were good enough to compete on the championship level, but they have had superior talent on the field. Even though some of the same players are still there, the team is not as convincing this year. With a couple more SEC teams in the hunt, could it hurt Clemson?

I know it was unrealistic to think the Pack would go the rest of the way without losing, but I DID expect them to compete. It has been a while since they have played this poorly. They have been dominated in every phase of the game. The good news is that they maintain the same level of control in the division with the Vikings losing.

I think Oklahoma gets left out first. Their loss to K State was as devastating to them as the Purdue loss last year was to Ohio State. While it was a close game, they still gave up 48 points. I am enjoying seeing it comedown to several scenarios this season though. It seems that since the playoff was introduced, two teams have shown they were a notch above the others. I don't really get that feeling this year. I am sticking with Ohio State though as the best team right now. It pains me to no end to say that, but they are THAT good.

If you are truly passionate about wanting to do it, I say go ahead. Even with all the BS that politicians are doing to the profession, I am still one that will say go for it if it really is something you want to do. I am not sure though that WGU is the best route though. I am not sure how many district administrations are cooperating with them. My understanding is that the field experience/student teaching is just a couple of weeks. I am thankful I ended up doing a full semester in different buildings with different age groups. I just don’t think two weeks is anywhere near long enough to give you the experience you need to decide if this is REALLY what you want to do. I am guessing that working is the reason for considering WGU, and doing as much as possible online, but I would do some exploring of other programs.

Ok @DannEllenwood I am watching now. Mischonne is talking to Darryl. Asking Darryl why Alpha did not kill them at that meeting at the border......to protect Lydia. So, I am thinking that Alpha knows she really cannot attack. The rest of the whisperers will find out that Lydia is alive.

I did see that. That was cool. You NEED to read "When Pride Still Mattered" by Dave Maraniss. It is the most detailed biography of Lombardi. It is loaded with similar nuggets like that. All the connections to the greats of the game is impressive. Lombardi was even friends with a lounge singer from Hoboken, NJ LONG before either became famous.

My older sister worked in the Ottawa National Forest for several years. I was able to take a couple of trips UP there. 🙂 It certainly is a different world up there. Sports Illustrated did a story about a team in Alaska many years ago. One topic covered was The unreal travel times and mileage for road games.

Pretty sure Bart Starr did though. Lombardi was the OC at West Point under Red Blaik. Blaik was the first coach to record practices and games. Lombardi loved watching film. It is really the main thing that drove his smoking habit. While at West Point, Lombardi was the one who had to drive in to NYC once a week to the Waldorf Astoria. He had to show then “retired” General Douglas MacCarthur the film from the previous game, as well as the game plan for the upcoming opponent.

So, the topic is a dozen, but only ten on the list. I would add that Jimbo Fisher fits well on this list. The notion of Meyer to FSU is basically because Fisher ran the program into the mess it is in now. Any coach that comes in will have an even tougher job. Central Florida is a popular program among the Florida kids lately....maybe even more so that Miami and Florida? I know Florida has had a solid year, but they struggled for a number of years here recently. Even South Florida is getting some decent recruits in State.

I think the 10th game for half the teams playing will do exactly what you described as the reason to eliminate the bye; it can kill any momentum gained going into the playoffs. I think you might get more traction with something either you or someone else posted in the other topic; a bye week in the regular season. A number of schools now have a full week of Fall break now, so it might be good to have the bye weeks scheduled the same week.

Logistics has become an issue. If all teams, except the few sectionals that have byes, in all classes were playing the first Friday, the number of officiating crews available is an issue. Looking over recent years, I think you have a tough sell on the notion that it kills momentum, especially in 5A and 6A, where the favorites win FAR more often than not.

Solid list, but hard to say that Hazell was the worst hire of all time. Michigan fans will claim RichRod was. Irish fans will claim Gerry Faust was. Ohio State fans will likely say Earl Bruce was. Tennessee can claim Lane Kiffin. I am sure a LOT of programs can put up a name to claim that spot, and not be far off. Even IU can claim Bill Lynch was the worst hire of all time.

Again...at that time, Illinois had just beaten Wisconsin with Peters leading the way, and has quietly put together a decent season. Patterson had looked average at best. There had been no indication going into the game Saturday that Patterson would play like he did. I made that comment just after halftime of the UM vs. Penn State game where Patterson was really struggling. So again you get to be the after the fact genius.....congrats.

Great seeing the short passing game against the aggressive blitzing of KC, and being patient without even trying to go deep. That has been missing for a LONG time. Green Bay staff did a MUCH better job of adjusting at halftime than KC did.....also something that was good to see for a change. McCarthy had a plan and stuck to it no matter what with no adjustments.
