  1. I am not sure how FWCS does things, but EACS wants teachers as head coaches in football. We have had a lay coach for basketball for about 10 years. The current/new coach is a teacher. EACS also does not allow administrators to coach, although one was grandfathered in. Are the coaches at North Side and Northrop teachers? Or do they at least work in the buildings?
  2. There are so many reasons coaches step down. It’s ridiculous to speculate as to why one coach did, especially when it’s a ridiculous notion that it was based on the level of competition his program will face in the future.
  3. Let's try it again. How about we agree any posts not tied to the topic get deleted? That said......one step closer, but it appears the NCAA is one step closer to contracts, but likely knows they cannot call them contracts because they want to avoid many of the rights a contracted employee is entitled to under the law.
  4. Delta has named their next Head Coach
  5. Green Bay is a decent example. Some success, but soooo many near misses to just flat disasters. They definitely should have won more SB's...or at least make more appearances. McCarthy knows his system. I am not sure he has adapted well as teams move to more 4x1 sets, lining up in it or motioning. His offense became predictable. He does not manage a game well. He sucks at challenges. He does not make adjustments in a game. His ego is too big to allow a true OC to call the offense, even if someone on staff has the title. He gets pass happy. He gets way too tight when he has a decent lead. I remember telling all this to Dallas fans when they got excited. 2 other critical points. 1. He LOVES to settle for really long field goals 2. Aaron Jones sat the bench for 3 seasons while McCarthy was in Green Bay.
  6. I have a niece who just graduated from MSU last Spring. I have another cousin who went there years ago. Beautiful campus…..Go Bobcats.
  7. The NFL does it now. Maybe the term reseed is not the best term, but that is what is often used. It just guarantees the highest remaining seed each round plays the lowest remaining seed. That way you avoid a larger gap between two teams playing each other. Use the NCAA BBALL tournament as an example. If a 2 or 3 seed is upset, the next round game for those upset teams is a larger gap than the 1 vs 8 matchup.
  8. I think I jinxed them lol
  9. If a freshman were ever ready for the league, he is it.
  10. Geno getting paid Hit 3 contract incentives; each worth $2 Million....good for him
  11. PLEASE make this happen.
  12. Too much money in them for conferences, but more money in making the playoff. I saw ND's take on making it to the final 4 is $14 Million. For the other teams, it's $14 Million to be shared among their conference teams. I am guessing the guaranteed seeds go away; just pair them up 1 thru 16. And each round should be reseeded
  13. Have to admit, these fights are hard to watch....for obvious reasons; wow
  14. Done....and thank you
  15. During one of the early bowl games, the announcers said that whether players in the portal play for the team they are currently on was a decision left to each school/program to decide. I went all season thinking it was an NCAA policy they could not until I heard that.
  16. Nope, not all.
  17. There is typically a ripple effect, but any more it hinges on what teaching openings a school will have. Those start popping up in larger numbers in February.
  18. Great question
  19. This game only adds to my doubts about LaFleur. In the end, there was nothing to gain as far as playoffs go, and if you just look at the overall record each season, he is likely here for a while. About the only thing you could hope for is if a guy like Jerry Jones offers a boatload of money to move and he takes it. But his game to game management leaves a lot to be desired. In the long run, I ask how many games has the team won that they should not have with him as the head coach? Without researching this season and previous seasons, I would guess less than 5? Then…..how many games were lost that you should have won? Again without looking, I would guess at least 10, with today being the latest.
  20. On the flip side, Mike Evans catches a pass at the end of the game to hit his $3 Million bonus.
  21. Mistake filled game, but the Bears turnovers have been killers. But Green Bay's mistakes loom larger as they give that one away. Not that the Packers make a deep run in the playoffs anyway. But this is not a good sign. Craziest thing is the Packers make the playoffs easily, but only win 1 divisional game.
  22. Remember when I posted potential bonuses, and you asked if coaches really call plays and make decisions based on that? Looks like McCarthy is one of those who does.
  23. Sad news......prayers for Smart and his family. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/43284302/sonny-smart-father-georgia-coach-dies-sugar-bowl-fall
