  1. Colts have a tough job ahead building the o line back to what it was; and this makes it a bit more difficult:
  2. A A Ron has posted that is not the deal and that he will definitely be back, but has not signed anything yet. I will trust McAfee's source more than these "insiders".
  3. Something like 30 States now have legalized gambling on sports. Calvin Ridley spends $1500 to bet on NFL games. He apparently bet on 3, 5, and 8 game parlays; and none of them included his team; the Falcons. he was suspended for the ENTIRE season next season. For a total of 16 games on FanDuel, while he did not have a direct impact, the odds are he knows guys on the other teams. Anyone associated with a team simply CANNOT gamble on the sport. There are WAY too many issues. We are already seeing a negative impact in my mind that fantasy leagues are having. So, if the NFL were to show any semblance of being fair, I would be ok with the punishment. That said, here are some things to consider: Roger Goodell watched a video of Ray Rice knocking his gf out cold and initially suspended him 2 games Adrian Peterson: felony child abuse; 6 games Greg Hardy: beating gf; 10 games reduced to 4 Ezekiel Elliot: hitting women; 6 games Calvin Ridley: 17 games for using FanDuel I get that the other stuff does not deal directly with game play, but the punishment for the other stuff seems really small, right? https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33446869/nfl-suspends-atlanta-falcons-wr-calvin-ridley-least-2022-season-betting-games here is a list of players who had to sit a season for gambling: 1963 Alex Karras 1963 Paul Hornung 1983 Art Schlichter 2019 Josh Shaw 2022 Calvin Ridley
  4. Not a good look for owners. I have never been a fan of Ricketts. Read how they played some dirty politics to acquire the Cubs. Fans were told that the organization could not afford to keep the roster they had, and yet the owner has a chance to buy a soccer team? Not just any soccer team either. If this happens, the Ricketts will own franchises worth $8 Billion A reminder it was the owners who locked the players out.....just sayin https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/ricketts-family-owners-of-the-chicago-cubs-reportedly-interested-in-buying-chelsea-football-club/
  5. I agree on all counts. They need to beat Purdue to have a prayer. Pickell did great managing his team and the officials in tough spots; including when his kid got tossed in a critical spot in the game. But his players reflect that on the court; no panic, no need for a TO at the end, just run a play.
  6. Another tough loss for IU tonight.....and another blown lead. Crazy thing is that Rutgers, much like Minnesota, starts hitting EVERYTHING late. a 60% free throw shooter nails 2 and looks like a 90% shooter doing it. Ron Harper Jr. is just unreal. It is difficult to keep track of who has them as one of the last four in or the first four out. I think they are out at this point. Does a win against Purdue get them in? or do they need a win or two in the conference tournament? I think the latter.
  7. Players are speaking out....their perspective, which makes sense, is that the owners did NOT want the season to start on time because the early season is not as profitable, and actually costs some of them some money covering expenses. If this can be proven, not bargaining in good faith is a serious charge, that could carry legal and financial consequences. https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2022/03/02/jason-heyward-and-willson-contreras-take-the-gloves-off/?fbclid=IwAR2oG8Z6FbuJ1DGh-UP7V34KfflbeB8boZgefF8ckSv8FQp54TZzlWYvPQc
  8. 🙂It was in the quote you included in your response.
  9. I was hoping a slight delay might move Spring Training to end a week or so later. Our Spring break timing has only lined up once for me to catch games in Fort Myers. I love going to those games; seeing big leaguers in what amounts to a single A ballpark. Got to see Big Papi play his last season. agreed
  10. You are right, age old question......even back to a time when owners got rich; REALLY rich, while their workers were paid nothing; literally. Not that I am crying for either side either, but it seems to be a mindset across multiple aspects of every day life.
  11. More often than not, topics venture off track. Understand that a lot of people read this forum. That includes students, parents, fans, media, coaches, and administrators. Opinions about coaching styles, game plans, play calling, and things like that are ok. Getting into why a coach was dismissed often times is off limits. Dragging an individual through the mud and piling on are not acceptable. Please keep those things in mind while posting; thanks. Comments or topics that head down that path will be deleted if they are seen. A very recent topic was hidden for going down that path. But there are not enough of us moderating this site to see everything. keep that in mind as well. Thanks
  12. My contention for decades is that as ridiculous as many player contracts seem; do we want to see the owners pocketing even more money while keeping player contracts lower? I have also said that for decades now, that even with the huge player contracts, they have not even put a dent in the amount of profit owners are making.
  13. Convo started in another topic, but it's worth its own topic. This link also includes links to several articles on the current situation https://theathletic.com/3066905/2022/03/01/mlb-lockout-news-now-that-baseball-games-are-canceled-whats-the-fight-over/ This link shows how the owners in multiple sports have gained a LOT of leverage over players. https://www.propublica.org/article/the-billionaire-playbook-how-sports-owners-use-their-teams-to-avoid-millions-in-taxes?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social A quick graphic from the 2nd link:
  14. Nope....owners want to stick with 162. Yes it is about the money for the owners; to the point they want a salary cap, which is basically impossible for the league at this point.
  15. The MLB owners locked the players out. They could have stayed open while negotiating. This is NOT the players doing. The players have conceded a lot in order to get a deal done.........but owners demand 14 teams in the playoffs? horrible idea
  16. Providence High School in Southern Indiana (Clarksville) has an assistant coach opening. Would prefer someone with WR experience, but all applicants will be considered. Interested coaches should email dmcdonald@providencehigh.net
  17. Mississinewa High School will have teaching opportunities in several content areas. There is a high school coaching position available that could go along with the teaching opening. If interested, contact Kyle Buresh at kyle_buresh@olemiss.k12.in.us
  18. Lowell High School is searching for A Spanish Teacher and several Math teachers for the 2022-23 school year. Coaching opportunities may be available for the right candidate. For more information, contact Keith Kilmer: kkilmer@tri-creek.k12.in.us
  19. Huntington North has an opening for elementary Physical Education position. There is a high school football coaching position available that could go along with the teaching opening. If interested, contact Bob Prescott at rprescott@hccsc.k12.in.us
  20. Probably at the point to move this to @Muda69's forum??? My only comment regarding this and the other bill mentioned is that there is no coincidence that bills across multiple states are written using practically the exact same language, and included the exact same dates for deadlines. A few details and even the date in Indiana changed. But the fact is the driving force behind the for profit prison system, ALEC is also driving this as they have with every "reform" to education that has taken place in the last 15-20 years.
