  1. That was a frustrating game to watch. Along the lines of what Bobref asked, why did they stick with Coan for so long? While he had a few decent throws, he is not a zone read type qb, and so many throws were just off or really bad. Defense missed too many tackles, and Oklahoma State moved too easily too often.
  2. I am too young to remember, but he played great in the ice bowl at Lambeau. That was 54 years ago yesterday.
  3. Another great coach has passed. RIP https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32972670/dan-reeves-former-nfl-coach-player-dies-77
  4. No question about that….and to drive that home, the RB for Alabama knew going in he was the 3rd best back when he got there, and chose to wait his turn.
  5. That is true, but he is a fish out of water.
  6. While the Alabama Cincinnati score was predictable, I did not see this coming in the UM Georgia game.
  7. Change of pace kind of shows Ted Lasso is much better than I thought it would be. Coach Beard is a great character. He and Roy Kent steal the show. This is Us is good too, but likely went a season too long; script writing is a bit weak at times, with the regurgitation of childhood issues, but still give it a B.
  8. About the only way a shitty year like this could end, I guess. https://tvline.com/2021/12/31/betty-white-dead-golden-girls-star-dies/
  9. yep......at least saying anyone out for an injury is out for the series eliminates any judgment calls.
  10. I agree.....crazy game, but fun to watch. Not sure how much can be done for the fake injuries. About the only thing you can do is make guys sit for the remainder of the possession.
  11. Yep, watching Yellowstone….love it. There are 3 episodes of 1883 out now. It is pretty good, but anything with Sam Elliott is good. I just finished Hawkeye. Funny that I was never into comic books as a kid, but love the DC and Marvel movies, and now the mini series on Disney.
  12. so? It is no longer about high school football; which is what this main forum is for. That has ALWAYS been the standard. I would add that EVERY person involved in the current conversation frequents the next level forum, sooooooo
  13. Looking like the conversation needs to move to the Next Level forum.
  14. Even with teams I hated, he still made the games fun to watch.
  15. For years now, whenever I have said Brett Favre's name, I hear Madden saying it in my head.
  16. Is this a topic that is already here? I could not remember....I probably could have started one much sooner than this. That said, I just saw this posted this evening. As a football fan, I loved listening to Madden's insight. He made things easy to understand, and it was obvious he loved his job. RIP John and thank you for so many great memories
  17. Not sure how you gauge the "best in the State" as far as design and play calling; unless someone has access to a LOT of video and time to watch. I can think of 4 off the top of my head that I would consider among the best I have ever coached with or against. But the fact is that we put WAY too much on how good a coach is to a team's record; completing discounting the ability level of the dudes putting the pads on every day.
  18. ND has had some good college QB's over the years. Really the only two that I can think of that did anything as pros would be Theismann (used to be pronounced theseman before coming to ND) and Montana. I did not really consider as much of a stat.........on the same level as osu fans that kept counting the number of days it had been since Michigan had beaten them at football.
  19. In my lifetime, I do not ever recall ND being called a quarterback factory. The fact that Book is actually on a roster just shows how crazy the season has been. And starting? Even crazier
  20. Jeremy Trueblood was an offensive tackle for Cathedral, Boston College, and Tampa, was 6’9”.
  21. Lou Piniella highlights are pretty good too
  22. Great win….put money on them to win the AFC.
  23. Bellmont's boys' teams are the Braves, and the girls' teams are the Squaws.
  24. The mothership heavily favors the SEC in football, and Duke in basketball; nauseatingly so in both cases; so we inserted those letters into “ESPN”
