LCC gets to play FW Luers!  LCC played FW Dwenger in 1968, FW South in 1972 and FW Concordia in 1977 and 1978, but never Luers.  I don't know who is going to win.  LCC fans think Luers is going to win and Luers fans think LCC is going to win.  Its looks like a 50/50 game.  How did Homestead only score 10 points on Luers?  Homestead scored 23 on Snider when they beat them in OT.

Not to downplay the Homestead win, but I would throw that out. Snider was coming off the huge win against Carroll the previous week. They jumped out to 14-0 lead in first half, I think they fell asleep at the switch on that one after they went up early.

  2. Not sure what to expect. I see Snider has a higher scoring O on average and looks like both D's give up about the same amount of points on average. As we see in most of these games, usually comes down to who has less penalties and turnovers, 3rd down conversions and special teams. Does M-ville have a good kicking game? That is huge key in deep playoff run.

One concern I have is Snider's secondary now after Mishawaka passed for over 300 yards. Maybe that was a result of Cavemen's run game?? How good of a passing team  are the Pirates? How does O & D line match up to Snider's?

I am assuming most of these games were played in playoff games. There was a stretch of games between Penn and Carmel in the early years of 6A that were close. (I define close as 2 score games)

Yea, I just looked at playoff games, the 21-9 seemed to be overall record. I just looked at Carmel seeing they were likely to offer the most data points

A quick look at Carmel, I came up with a 21-9 record since 1994 when traveling up to the US-30 corridor and north of. So I'm concluding that the road trip doesn't really matter. Well at least for Carmel it doesn't

Went back and double checked, looks like they are 14-7, not 21-9. Maybe travel has a small role, seeing they would be around 7-2 at home against the "northern" teams

How far back in History are you going on this one...Recent history...like 5 seasons, or further back.

Had a great pass game that year, it was disabled severely that night. The "Mud Bowl" is what we called it. Finally went artificial turf about three years ago. If Snider wins state this year, maybe Penn can come see it next year.

Yep, IF Snider gets State title they will bump up to 6A. Anything else they stay in 5A.

    I'm coming up with 3-2

    2004: Snider 49, Penn 7

    2012: Snider 42, Merrillville 39

    2014: Laporte 35, Snider 7

    2015: Snider 56, Kokomo 20

2022: Valpo 22, Snider 21     (blowing snow from the west, homefield advantage negated)

Worth noting: Spuller Stadium is one of the only stadiums whose home side faces the west, therefore negating much of their "home field advantage." The home team fights the sun in August and September, and blowing rain or snow in October and November. Inclement weather almost always comes from the west. I'll never understand why the Snider team and fans aren't moved over to the other side. The visitors shouldn't be more comfortable than the home team.

You are correct, I went back to 1994, so you have info for last 20 years, my error on time snap shot

Here is what I see on John Harrell site since 1994

    2022 - L - Valpo

    2015 - W - Kokomo

    2014 - L - LaPorte

    2012 - W - M-ville

    2004 - W - Penn

    2002 - W - Valpo

    1997 - L - Penn

I think the Mishawaka game will springboard Snider right into LOS . If history tells us anything , Snider is very tough to beat in Fort Wayne .

They are 4-3 in semi states when at home. in past 20 years. Doing deeper dive into overall home record during second season

Their kicker hit big kicks last night..one being from 37 yds out..ik he missed an xp n they went for two rather than attempting to tie yet mathematically speaking it made sense..his kick with under a min left was clutch..

I think their kicker hit one big/good kick, not sure about "kicks"??. Anyway, I wanted to make point that special teams play is huge in playoffs,

The pirates look good on film..expected a valpo rematch yet Merrillville probably had just as much if not more motivation to beat them than snider..that being said..da region still has the 5a title in their conference n the panthers may have to continue to shock me..wc..carroll..sparty😄...alot would have tucked tail with under a minute left against the cavemen..tippy had a gameplan that fit that matchup and they pulled it out..yet if the pirates do what the vikings did....schematics really won't matter

Always a tough game when you get this deep in second season. M-villie, I'm sure is a very good team, don't know their strengths or weaknesses, would be good to hear if anyone can provide insight.  Not sure how to call this game yet,

One of the better high school games I’ve seen in awhile. Both teams left it all on the field. And, I might add, the officiating was a pleasure to watch.

Yes, I thought it was a great game and the refs did a good job IMO too 🙂 A good balance of letting the kids play, yet controlling the game is always nice to see.

Mishawaka 15, Snider 13 with 8 minutes to go.

Snider getting some decent drives but no points to show for it. Mishawaka's ground game going nowhere, killing Snider through the air.

Mishawaka QB has thrown for over 50% of his regular season total during this game I believe.
