  1. Bloomington South 20 New Albany 7 (half) South scored on a one-yard run with nine seconds left in the half. Two-point conversion try was good. However, South allowed New Albany to run the kickoff back 77 yds for a TD with no time left on the clock. South's Che Hogue has 133 yards on 13 carries and three TDs so far. New Albany, which ran all over South in the playoffs last season has been held in check on the ground by South's totally rebuilt defense player-wise.
  2. Bloomington North 34 Greenwood 0 (early 3rd) North scored on a 6 yd run.
  3. Bloomington South 12 New Albany 0 (2:09, 2nd) South finally mounted a drive without turning the ball over for another TD. PAT failed again after a low snap.
  4. Bloomington North 27 Greenwood 0 (half) Edgewood 20 Mitchell 14 (2:10, 2nd)
  5. Bloomington South 6 New Albany 0 (early 2nd) South just fumbled the ball at about New Albany's 3-inch line which was about where it was recovered, for their third turnover of the game. The runner was reaching for the goal line and lost it.
  6. Bloomington South 6 New Albany 0 (end of 1st) The end of the qtr was marred by three straight turnovers - two by South and one by New Albany, but neither team could cash in. South has the ball in their territory when the 2nd starts.
  7. Bloomington North 27 Greenwood 0 (4:25, 2nd) Edgewood 14 Mitchell 14 (6:36, 2nd)
  8. Bloomington North 20 Greenwood 0 (10:39, 2nd) North scored on a 24 yd pass play. Northview 13 Terre Haute North 0 (end of 1st)

  11. Bloomington North 7 Greenwood 0 (7:04, 1st) North scored on a 59 yd pass play.

  13. I have no links with anyone on South's team to include the coaching staff, so the only information I have on the team is what I've both read and heard which is limited. South's scrimmage with Lawrence Central was a mixed bag which is often the case in these scrimmages. New Albany ran all over South last season in the playoff game to the tune of over 400 yards on the ground if my memory is correct. It was run, run, run, and run some more for the Bulldogs in that game, and why not. South has had to replace almost that entire defense so New Albany won't be seeing the same defense player-wise. South has added the two four-star players on defense in senior Dasan McCullough at the LB position (he was held out of the scrimmage for precautionary reasons), and his brother, Daeh, a junior, at the safety position. Dasan will be a two-way player playing at WR also. His bother, Daeh, will also see some time at the RB position. South has several returning o-linemen that have beefed up based on what I have read, with experienced junior Zach David at QB. The offense will be just fine based on my limited knowledge of the situation, but the defense will be a huge question mark. I assume New Albany will concentrate on the running game in the opener considering that was their bread and butter last season and South's run defense was like a sieve in last year's game, and will be almost entirely new. This is a pretty simplistic view of things, but that's my limited knowledge of things going into the season opener.
  14. Here is the high school schedule for WGCL in Bloomington. There are two other Bloomington stations that have broadcast high school football in previous years, but I haven't seen a schedule on their site, yet. Here is the website for WGCL and their schedule of the games that will be streamed at their site: https://www.wgclradio.com Date Match-Up August 20 Mitchell at Edgewood 7 pm August 27 Martinsville at South 7 pm September 3 North at Terre Haute South 7 pm September 10 North at South 7 pm September 17 Terre Haute North at North -OR- South Putnam at Edgewood September 24 Southport at South 7: 30 pm October 1 Roncalli at North -OR- South at Columbus North October 8 Columbus North at North *October 9* Saturday Hammond Morton at South (pending) October 15 Brown County at Edgewood -OR- North at Southport
  15. Lawrence Central @ Bloomington South - at 7 p.m. on Friday the 13th. Bloomington North @ Edgewood - at 7 p.m. on Friday the 13th.
  16. Just saw an updated article today at the ESPN site on this mess. Controversial high school football coach Rush Propst won't have contract renewed in Valdosta, Georgia, after recruiting allegations (espn.com)
  17. Castle 35 Bloomington North 24 (final) Castle vs Jeffersonville in the regional.
  18. Jeffersonville 35 New Albany 25 (final) Jeff will play Castle next week in the regional.
  19. Castle 35 Bloomington North 24 (3:52, 4th) North scores, but it's probably too little, too late for the Cougars. North tries an on-side kick which was unsuccessful, and Castle gets the ball at the 50 yd line.
  20. Jeffersonville 35 New Albany 25 (10:00, 4th) I had the schools reversed in a previous post indicating that New Albany was ahead when it was the opposite.
  21. Castle 35 Bloomington North 17 (7:34, 4th) Castle pretty much has the win in the bag. Castle's Peyton Guerzini has 31 carries for 204 yds so far, and he has been the difference for Castle.
  22. Castle 28 Bloomington North 17 (4:10, 3rd) For the second time tonight, North allows a Castle kickoff returner to return the ball deep in their territory, this time to their 23 yd line. Castle needs just four plays to score.
  23. Castle 21 Bloomington North 17 (6:04, 3rd) North goes on a long 88 yd drive for a TD to pull within four points.
  24. Castle 21 Bloomington North 10 (half) Castle scored a TD with 41 seconds left in the half, and then North was able to get close enough to kick a 36 yd FG as time expired in the half.
