  1. Bloomington South 13 Terre Haute South 0 (2:37, 3rd) South had a drive die at THS's 4 yard line and they kicked a 21 yard FG. Scoring has been somewhat of a struggle for South tonight, with their penalty problem being a big factor in it. So far, their defense is pitching a shutout.
  2. Terre Haute North 24 Bloomington North 14 (4:24, 3rd) After North tightened the game, THN went on an 8-play scoring drive with 7 plays on the ground as North continues to have problems containing THN's run game tonight. THN, again, went for a two-point conversion and made it. They have gone for two on all three TDs they have scored tonight, so I don't know if they don't have any confidence in their kicking game or what, but so far they have converted on all of them.
  3. Terre Haute North 16 Bloomington North 14 (10:17, 3rd) North scored on their opening possession of the 2nd half to tighten the game up.
  4. Bloomington South 10 Terre Haute South 0 (8:04, 3rd) South continues to hurt themselves with penalties in this game against THS. They just had another drive stall because of a major penalty and they have 76 yards in penalties so far. The penalty problem has been exactly that, a problem so far on the season.
  5. Bloomington South 10 Terre Haute South 0 (half) THS has played the Panthers a little tougher than expected so far. South will get the ball when the 2nd half starts. South's Dasan McCullough forced two fumbles in the 1st half.
  6. Terre Haute North 16 Bloomington North 7 (3:05, 2nd) North scored on an 11-play drive on their second possession of the game.
  7. Terre Haute North 16 Bloomington North 0 (7:06, 2nd) North's run defense did not show up tonight so far as THN has dominated the game on the ground scoring on two straight long, time-consuming drives. North had the ball for just 3 offensive plays in the 1st and has not seen the ball yet in the 2nd. THN's converted another two-point conversion on their 2nd TD.
  8. Bloomington South 10 Terre Haute South 0 (10:01, 2nd) South scored on a 52 yard TD pass.
  9. Bloomington South 3 Terre Haute South 0 (3:21, 1st) THS couldn't do anything on the opening drive and South then drove to the THS 18 yard where the drive stalled and they kicked a 35 yard FG for the lead.
  10. Terre Haute North 8 Bloomington North 0 (4:02, 1st) THN took the opening kickoff and went on a 20-play drive, converting three 4th downs on the drive. Two-point conversion was good.
  11. I don't know what to make of CN. They got thumped last night by a Roncalli team that is usually pretty good, so whether that is a true measure of the Bull Dogs or not as far as CI play goes, remains to be seen. They have played just one CI team so far and that is an absolutely horrible Southport team that is getting annihilated by everyone so far. Their losses have been to two pretty good teams to include Gibson Southern in addition to Roncalli, and they have beaten crosstown rival East which is clearly down this season and the Southport team. Just how good this team is or can be is a real puzzle right now.
  12. I guess I gave North a little too much credit by saying they had a slight edge at the QB and RB positions. It was just a gut feeling on my part that North would win in a close game, but my gut failed me this time around, and I'm pleased it did. Zach David had a huge game at QB for South throwing for 316 yards on 17 of 21 passing and no picks and was playing on a gimpy ankle. North's Lozano threw for 180 yards on 8 of 17 passing and one pick, with his passing numbers skewed by one pass that went for 73 yards and a TD. Che Hogue went for 158 yards on 30 carries outplaying his counterpart in Cody Michulich who went for 95 yards, but he was limited to 14 carries. Michulich rushed for 273 yards and three TDs against South last season. Hogue has now run for over 100 yards in every game this season so far after South failed to have a 100 yard rusher last season. South continues to be a team that accumulates a lot of penalties, especially major penalties which I assume is a result of aggressiveness and an occasional lack of composure which is almost always the case. The final score could have been much more of a blowout if South had scored in those three drives deep into the red zone only to come away empty, twice on downs and once on a missed FG after a major penalty . They should be a big favorite over a weak TH South next week in TH.
  13. Bloomington South 28 Bloomington North 14 (final) North outscored South 14-7 in the second half as both teams were hurt by penalties which stymied drives, especially South. South had three drives during this game that went deep into North territory and they failed to produce points as two drives died on downs, and one ended up with a missed FG. North had one drive die at the South 9 yard line and also had the ball deep into South territory at the end of the game, but turned the ball over on downs.
  14. Bloomington South 28 Bloomington North 14 (4:44, 4th) South has been their own worst enemy in the 4th. They had a drive die at the North 9 yard line on downs, then they sacked the QB back near the end zone, but were hit by an unsportsmanlike penalty which kept North alive, and North was able to drive the ball downfield after the penalty to inside South's red zone. South held inside their 10 yard line taking over on downs.
  15. Bloomington South 28 Bloomington North 14 (end of 3rd) South will have the ball in North territory at the start of the 4th.
  16. Bloomington South 28 Bloomington North 14 (late 3rd) North scored on an 84 yard play pulling a play out of their bag of tricks. It was a reverse to the RB who in turn threw ball ball back to the QB who then threw a pass for a TD.
  17. Bloomington South 28 Bloomington North 7 (4:55, 3rd) South answered North's score coming out of the half with one of their own on a pass play to keep three scores up on the Cougars. Both teams have been hampered by major penalties in the 3rd, but that hasn't stopped either team from scoring.
  18. Bloomington South 21 Bloomington North 7 (mid 3rd) North came out of the half keeping the ball on the ground and went for a TD going 80 yards. So they found something that works after a really bad first half on offense.
  19. South had 307 yards of offense in the first half to 40 yards for North, so it was total domination. It will be interesting to see how North adjusts for the 2nd half.
  20. Bloomington South 21 Bloomington North 0 (half) The biggest surprise of this game so far is South's ability to shut down North's offense. In addition to their three TDs, South had a drive die at the North 9 yard line on downs and then again after having a TD called back for a penalty, so this score could have been much worse for North. North will get the ball to start the 2nd half.
  21. Bloomington South 21 Bloomington North 0 (0:33, 2nd) After intercepting North, South didn't waste anytime taking it in for a score. It was North's first turnover of the season. It's been total domination by South so far.
  22. Bloomington South 14 Bloomington North 0 (6:41, 2nd) South scores on a 67 yard drive aided by a PF penalty. South has over 200 yards on offense right now to North's 15 yards.
  23. Bloomington South 7 Bloomington North 0 (near end of 1st) A holding call negated a TD run by South and they settled for a FG attempt that was partially blocked and was no good. South has controlled the line play on both sides of the ball so far.
  24. Bloomington South 7 Bloomington North 0 (early 1st) South received the kickoff and went on an 80 yard drive for a score.
