  1. WGCL, WVNI, WCLS, and WHCC have all covered local high school football games this season, and you would think they would coordinate on their schedules to prevent redundancy. Anyway, based on an article I saw earlier, it looks like David will be under center for South tonight. Chatard has a prolific passer in Carter St. John, who has had some big games passing the ball. Like the game capsule at HTO said this morning, with South's leaky secondary, they may need to sustain some drives to keep Chatard's offense on the sidelines.
  2. Thanks for the info, it's greatly appreciated.
  3. I guess both WGCL and WVNI would rather cover the Edgewood game rather than run the I-69 construction gauntlet to get to the Indy area for the Chatard and Southport games. The Chatard game may end up being a twitter game for us unless we want to make the trip up north, which I don't want to do. I fished around some at the Chatard sites to see if I could pick up something about radio or streaming access to the game, and I wasn't successful in finding anything.
  4. I saw in a battle of teams with perfect losing records that TH South pulled out the win to avoid a winless season, but has no chance of beating CN next week. After getting beat up the past two weeks, North will finish the regular season with a probable win over Southport which is shooting for an 0-9 record. South is finishing up with the best 4-4 team in the state in Chatard. I haven't seen anything on David to know if he will be available. He's had an extra week to recover from the sprained ankle, but I don't know if it was a high ankle sprain or what that might keep him out. With the bye week, South has had the chance to put in some new wrinkles on offense, but I don't know if they will do something like that and just stick with what they have been doing. It's not a conference game and the Panthers are locked up with 2nd place, so they just need to come out of the Chatard game healthy.
  5. South had the bye week because their game with Hammond Morton was canceled. They played most of their game with Columbus North without their starting QB, Zach David, who turned an ankle. I don't know how bad the ankle is and if he will be available for that game. Their backup QB is an inexperienced soph who could not move the offense against CN. It will be a tough game for the Panthers since Chatard is obviously much, much better than their record. With the extra week, maybe South can put in some new wrinkles that they haven't shown this season.
  6. Columbus North 55 Bloomington North 19 (final) The running clock mercifully brought this game to an end. CN was playing several reserves at the end. Congratulations to the Bulldogs for winning the CI crown. There is a possibility that CN and Bloom. South could tie for the crown, but it would entail CN losing to TH South to end the regular season, and if anyone thinks that will happen, I would like to sell them the Brooklyn Bridge and I will throw in the Lincoln Tunnel.
  7. CG is a different animal so we have to put competitive in context. Maybe they will find a positive in losing by 5 TDs instead of 7.
  8. Columbus North 55 Bloomington North 19 (end of 3rd)
  9. Columbus North 55 Bloomington North 19 (mid 3rd) CN scored again after a Cougar turnover on a pick and we have a running clock in this game as of now, which is a good thing for the Cougars.
  10. Columbus North 48 Bloomington North 19 (8:32, 3rd) CN took the opening kickoff of the 2nd half on a 6-play scoring drive to extend the lead. As it was in the 1st qtr, the Cougars offered little resistance on this drive.
  11. No one expects them to get past CG if they meet, but how competitive CN is in that game will be a measuring stick on their improvement as the season went on. However, a loss is the end of the season, so it would be little consolation if they are competitive in that game.
  12. Columbus North 41 Bloomington North 19 (half) After getting destroyed in the 1st qtr, the Cougars showed some life in the 2nd qtr, but were fortunate at the end of the 2nd, when the Bull Dogs had a TD run called back on a chop block penalty. CN gets the ball at the start of the 3rd.
  13. Columbus North 41 Bloomington North 19 (1:09, 2nd) After the Cougars forced CN into a FG attempt which was was missed, they went 80 yards to score to make the score a little more respectable before the half. PAT was blocked. The way CN has scored tonight, they may just get another score with 1:09 left on the clock.
  14. Columbus North 41 Bloomington North 13 (4:29, 2nd) Teams just traded TDs. The Cougars TD was their first one on offense and it was a sustained drive which they hadn't been able to do until this point in the game.
  15. Improved?, probably, but how much won't be known until the playoffs. They did give Cathedral a game at home until late in the game, they were beaten soundly by Roncalli, and they also weren't competitive with a really good Gibson Southern team. It will be interesting to see how they do in 6A at tournament time. They finish the regular season against a bad TH South team.
  16. Columbus North 34 Bloomington North 7 (10:50, 2nd) CN didn't take long to score again, scoring on a two-play drive with the second play being an 79 yard TD pass. PAT was missed. The Bull Dogs scored with a bit of trickery as they flipped the ball to a wide receiver who in turn tossed the TD pass.
  17. Columbus North 28 Bloomington North 7 (11:53, 2nd) The Cougars scored on a 92 yard kickoff return by Cody Mikalich, but that puts the Bull Dogs right back out there on offense in which they haven't been stopped yet. Maybe the Cougars best defense will be to tire the Bull Dogs offense out by being on the field all of the time.
  18. Columbus North 28 Bloomington North 0 (11:57, 2nd) After another punt, Columbus scores again from 3 yards out on the first play of the 2nd qtr. The Cougars have offered almost no resistance on defense and the Bull Dogs have scored at will.
  19. Columbus North 21 Bloomington North 0 (2:28, 1st) The Cougars have done nothing on offense and now they allowed a 60 yard punt return which set Columbus up for a quick five yard drive for a TD. With a bad defense, the Cougars have pretty much played themselves out of this game in the 1st since the strength of the team has done nothing on offense.
  20. Columbus North 14 Bloomington North 0 (5:07, 1st) The Cougars are still looking for the first 1st down in the game after two possessions. The Cougars have a really porous defense which is evident so far as the Bull Dogs have had no trouble driving on them. If the Cougars can't get things going on offense, this game could be over with rather quickly as a competitive game.
  21. Northview 21 Edgewood 0 (8:12, 1st) Edgewood has had a disastrous season so far, so this game is probably destined to have a running clock rather quickly in the 2nd half.
  22. You may have already noticed it, but WHCC 105.1 FM is also carrying high school football games and they will also be at the CN/North game tonight along with WGCL and WVNI. With the Columbus station carrying the game, it could get pretty crowded up in the press box.
  23. FWIW, whenever I have to go to radio coverage and both WGCL and WVNI are covering South's game, I have a preference for WVNI's coverage. I just think they do a little better job with the small details going on in the game. Just my opinion.
  24. It's official that South will have a bye week after being unable to replace Hammond Morton on their schedule. They will also lose their Senior Night game because of it, with their final game of the regular season at Chatard. Here is the tweet on it. BHSS Panther Football @bhss_football · 5h UPDATE: Unfortunately our opponent this weekend had to cancel and we were unable to get another game arranged. We will be back in action on Friday, 10/15 at Bishop Chatard!
