  1. Bloomington North 42 New Albany 19 (half) The Bulldogs will get the ball at the start of the 3rd. There was little to no defense in this game so far. At the half, North has 339 yards of total offense while New Albany has 299 yards of total offense. Obviously, North has done a little bit better in cashing in on their yardage.
  2. Bloomington North 42 New Albany 19 (0:21, 2nd) North scored on a short pass after recovering the ball at New Albany's 8 yard line when the Bulldogs' punter dropped the snap on a punt. North's backup QB Cayden Riester has thrown 4 TD passes so far. Riester was starting for Reece Lozano who is out with an ankle issue.
  3. Bloomington North 35 New Albany 19 (2:11, 2nd) North scored on a screen pass to Cody Mikulich.
  4. Bloomington South 13 Southport 0 (end of 1st) Southport will have the ball on their 25 yard line at the start of the 2nd.
  5. Bloomington North 28 New Albany 19 (4:34, 2nd) North scored on a 58 yard run by Cody Mikulich.
  6. Bloomington South 13 Southport 0 (1:08, 1st) South's Ben Morrison scored on a 15 yard run. PAT was blocked.
  7. Bloomington North 21 New Albany 19 (5:08, 2nd) New Albany scored on a 13 yard run, but the PAT was missed.
  8. Bloomington North 21 New Albany 13 (8:35, 2nd) North scored on a 49 yard pass play to extend their lead. There's not much defense in this game so far. North had 202 total yards in the 1st qtr, while New Albany had 165 total yards.
  9. Bloomington South 7 Southport 0 (8:07, 1st) Southport went 3 and out on the opening drive of the game, and South then drove down the field for the 1st score on a 5 yard run by Che Hogue.
  10. Bloomington North 14 New Albany 13 (3:10, 1st) Not much defense in the 1st qtr of this game.
  11. Bloomington North 7 New Albany 0 (8:39, 1st) North took the opening kickoff on a 74 yard drive, scoring on a 3 yard run.
  12. I thought I would add that Bloom. North's starting QB Reece Lozano is definitely out for tonight's game with New Albany and backup QB Cayden Riester will be under center.
  13. As southend alluded to in a couple of posts ago, Bloom. North may be without their starting QB in Reece Lozano who went out with an ankle injury around mid-3rd qtr in their game with TH North. Lozano tried to walk it off but they ended up icing it down for the rest of the game and he was in a walking boot at the end of the game. There is no word early-on about his availability for the New Albany game. Their backup QB, Cayden Riester, came in and played well, tossing a game-winning 62 yard TD pass very late in the 4th to pull the game out for the Cougars. His numbers for the quarter and a half he played were 5 of 13 passing for 102 yards, two TDs, 22 yards rushing on three carries, while throwing one pick. I have a feeling that the New Albany game will be a high scoring game since both teams have defenses that give up a lot of yards. That's just my opinion on the game.
  14. FWIW, I saw a post under the Cathedral at Columbus North thread a little while ago where they said the JV game wasn't played this weekend and it was speculated that it might have been caused by the fact that CN's roster numbers are at about 55 players. I don't know if that's the case and if those numbers are accurate, but it would be surprising that the Bull Dogs would have so few players this season, since they usually have a big roster.
  15. Well, we won't find anything out with next week's opponent being a bad Southport team which got clobbered by Chatard. But with CN, which gave Cathedral a fight until the latter part of that game, and Chatard left on the schedule, those two games will say a lot about where stands nearing the sectionals. CN has had a disappointing season by their standards, but they appear to be a team that you had better be ready for. Hammond Morton is 0-4 and is sandwiched between the CN and Chatard games, and has to make the very long trip to Bloomington, so I don't expect that game to tell us much.
  16. FWIW, the beat writer for the TH high schools says that the Braves have improved dramatically over the last couple of games to include last night's game. They lost to crosstown rival THN by six points last week in which it looked like THN was by far the better team going into that game. So maybe we need to give the Braves some credit for being improved although that doesn't take away the fact that South should have won last night's game by a wider margin.
  17. If one looked at the box score you would think South won by much more than 20 points. South had 237 yards on the ground and 134 yards passing for 371 total yards to THS's 84 yards on the ground and 52 yards passing for 136 total yards. You have to give the Braves credit for forcing two FGs when South was in the red zone, although one of the FGs was forced after South shot themselves in the foot with a major penalty . The Panthers' defense played great in pitching the shutout. Penalties were down a little bit for the Panthers from previous games, but there are still too many of them. South was flagged for 10 penalties for 79 yards, while the Braves were flagged for 7 penalties for 50 yards.
  18. Bloomington North 35 Terre Haute North 30 (final) North was fortunate that THN didn't have enough time left to run the ball since they had no answer for the Patriots' ground game tonight. I don't know how many rushing yards THN had for the game. but the number had to be huge. THN made just enough mistakes to let North back into the game at the end.
  19. Bloomington North 35 Terre Haute North 30 (1:14, 4th) Backup QB Cayden Reister threw a 62 yard TD pass to Cody Mikulich as it was THN's turn to have their defense give up a big play.
  20. Terre Haute North 30 Bloomington North 28 (1:39, 4th) North couldn't stop THN on the ground and now they are faced with trying to pull this game out by getting close enough to kick a FG or get a TD with not much time left.
  21. Bloomington South 20 Terre Haute South 0 (final) South gets the shutout as the reserves finished the game. South probably would have won this game by a higher score, but they kept shooting themselves in the foot with penalties. That's something they had better try to get a handle on with CN and Chatard on the schedule to finish out the season, not so much Southport.
  22. Bloomington North 28 Terre Haute North 24 (5:27, 4th) A major snafu by THN allows North to take the lead. THN's QB had a snap go between his legs and North recovered on the THN 6 yard line, setting up an easy score.
  23. Bloomington South 20 Terre Haute South 0 (6:27, 4th) South's Che Hogue scored on a 10 yard run as South kept the ball on the ground in this drive. Hogue now has 173 yards on 28 carries.
  24. Bloomington South 13 Terre Haute South 0 (end of 3rd) So far, South has 140 yards rushing and 129 yards passing to THS's 84 yards rushing and 47 yards passing.
  25. Terre Haute North 24 Bloomington North 21 (2:10, 3rd) North scores on a 17 yard screen pass. Cayden Reister is in at QB for North as starting QB Lozano is currently out with an ankle issue. North has been able to score on THN, but we will see if they can stop THN on the ground which has been a futile effort for them so far.
