  1. Bloomington South 28 Martinsville 0 (half) South will get the ball to start the 3rd.
  2. Bloomington North 27 Bedford NL 13 (2:26, 2nd) BNL scores on a 68 yard pass play. Both of BNL's scores have been quick strikes with their first TD on a 68 yard run.
  3. Bloomington North 27 Bedford NL 6 (3:05, 2nd) North scored on a 16 play drive.
  4. Bloomington South 28 Martinsville 0 (6:43, 2nd) Daeh McCullough, brother of Dasan, picked off an Arties pass and took it 70 yards for a TD.
  5. Bloomington South 21 Martinsville 0 (9:14, 2nd) South's Dasan McCullough stole a ball from a receiver taking it back 10 yards for a TD. McCullough now has two TDs on the night, one each on defense and offense.
  6. Bloomington South 14 Martinsville 0 (9:17, 2nd) South picked the Arties at their own one yard line and then went 99 yards for a score with the final 75 yards on a TD pass play.
  7. Bloomington North 13 Bedford NL 6 (2:47, 1st) BNL scored on a 68 yard run by Dylan Nikirk. (PAT failed)
  8. Bloomington North 13 Bedford NL 0 (3:27, 1st) North scored on a 43 yard pass play. (PAT no good)
  9. Bloomington South 7 Martinsville 0 (2:41, 1st) This game was also delayed by lightning, as the Panthers score first on a 66 yard drive.
  10. Bloomington North 7 Bedford NL 0 (start of the 1st) In a game delayed by lightning, North took the opening kickoff 84 yards for a score.
  11. I wasn't at the the South/New Albany game, but the Bulldogs do have some speedsters and returned two kickoffs for scores. A lot of that was on the Panthers' coverage, but NA's speed didn't allow South to recover on the coverage. Actually, the second kickoff return was not taken all the way, but to the South 12 yd line and the Bulldogs had to use all four downs to get the score. South controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball which was somewhat of a surprise considering the defense was a big question mark going into the game. After not having a single 100 yard rusher last season, South's Che Hogue ran for 150 yards on 17 carries behind a line that had beefed up during the off-season. New Albany's QB, Derell Simmons, is experienced and was 20 of 32 for 203 yards and no picks with a 74 yard TD pass contributing a lot to his total. The Bulldogs rushed for just 59 yards on 32 carries, but they were playing catch-up a lot in the second half and had to go with the passing game. Whether New Albany was flat for this game after the long trip up to Bloomington or what, they do return 17 starters (I believe) from last season, so I wouldn't take them lightly over how this game went.
  12. I have to admit that I was extremely surprised how South dominated on both sides of the ball, especially after having to replace pretty much all of their starters on defense. They gave up 62 yards rushing on 31 carries to a team that ran for over 400 yards on them last season and had most of their starters back from last season. South's starting QB in junior Zach David had a really solid game although I didn't get his final stats, and he had limited varsity experience last season while being the starting QB for the JV team. He had one pick that was a tipped pass by the receiver, but it was on him since the pass was off target. Their special teams were sloppy tonight giving up two TDs on kickoff returns as well as missing two PATs, so that area needs to be shored up. It's one game, but a great start. I'm sure New Albany, with all of the experience they had coming back, has to be disappointed, especially with the final margin. If I'm not mistaken, they play Gibson Southern next.
  13. Their entire starting defense from last season was gone and had to be replaced. They do have the two 4 star recruits in the McCullough brothers that transferred in that play on defense.
  14. Bloomington South 50 New Albany 20 (final) The Bulldogs ran all over South last season to the tune of around 440 yards on the ground, but South's rebuilt defense held them in check tonight. I don't know what they ended up with, but New Albany had 53 yards on the ground at the end of the 3rd, and they spent much of the 4th passing the ball trying to play catch up football. Big win for South as New Albany was a veteran team with what I believe was 17 starters back from last season. South's defense gave up 7 points with special teams giving up the other two TDs.
  15. That's a pretty good kick for high school. Was that wind aided?
  16. Bloomington South 50 New Albany 20 (11:00, 4th) South's back-up QB, Jarrin Alley, threw a 60 yd TD pass for the score to push South's lead back up to 30.
  17. Bloomington South 43 New Albany 20 (end of 3rd) South will have a 1st and 10 at their 38 to start the 4th.
  18. Bloomington South 43 New Albany 20 (5:03, 3rd) South's defense gave up their first score on the night, giving up a 73 yard pass play. Special teams gave up the other two.
  19. Bloomington South 43 New Albany 13 (mid 3rd) South is starting to pull away after scoring a short field TD after a New Albany fumble. Owen Valley 52 Brown County 6 (final)
  20. Bloomington South 36 New Albany 13 (8:12, 3rd) South has scored 16 unanswered points after giving up the two scores on kickoff returns.
  21. Bloomington North 48 Greenwood 8 (final)
  22. Bloomington South 29 New Albany 13 (9:30, 3rd) South answered the Bulldog's big kickoff return with a quick drive to move back up to a two TD lead, then South got a safety on the kickoff.
  23. Bloomington South 20 New Albany 13 (start of 3rd) Incredibly, South gave up a TD to end the half on a kickoff return and then gave up another big kickoff return to open the 2nd half, which the Bulldogs returned to the South 12 yard line, setting up another easy TD. South obviously needs to work on special teams, considering the kickoff returns and missed PATs. New Albany's PAT was blocked.
  24. Bloomington North 48 Greenwood 8 (6:00, 4th) The Woodmen avoided a shutout with a TD.
  25. Bloomington North 48 Greenwood 0 (10:00, 4th)
