Bloomington South 29 New Albany 13 (9:30, 3rd) South answered the Bulldog's big kickoff return with a quick drive to move back up to a two TD lead, then South got a safety on the kickoff.

Bloomington South 20 New Albany 13 (start of 3rd) Incredibly, South gave up a TD to end the half on a kickoff return and then gave up another big kickoff return to open the 2nd half, which the Bulldogs returned to the South 12 yard line, setting up another easy TD. South obviously needs to work on special teams, considering the kickoff returns and missed PATs. New Albany's PAT was blocked.

Bloomington South 20 New Albany 7 (half) South scored on a one-yard run with nine seconds left in the half. Two-point conversion try was good. However, South allowed New Albany to run the kickoff back 77 yds for a TD with no time left on the clock. South's Che Hogue has 133 yards on 13 carries and three TDs so far. New Albany, which ran all over South in the playoffs last season has been held in check on the ground by South's totally rebuilt defense player-wise.

Bloomington South 6 New Albany 0 (early 2nd) South just fumbled the ball at about New Albany's 3-inch line which was about where it was recovered, for their third turnover of the game. The runner was reaching for the goal line and lost it.

Bloomington South 6 New Albany 0 (end of 1st) The end of the qtr was marred by three straight turnovers - two by South and one by New Albany, but neither team could cash in. South has the ball in their territory when the 2nd starts.

I have no links with anyone on South's team to include the coaching staff, so the only information I have on the team is what I've both read and heard which is limited. South's scrimmage with Lawrence Central was a mixed bag which is often the case in these scrimmages. New Albany ran all over South last season in the playoff game to the tune of over 400 yards on the ground if my memory is correct. It was run, run, run, and run some more for the Bulldogs in that game, and why not. South has had to replace almost that entire defense so New Albany won't be seeing the same defense player-wise. South has added the two four-star players on defense in senior Dasan McCullough at the LB position (he was held out of the scrimmage for precautionary reasons), and his brother, Daeh, a junior, at the safety position. Dasan will be a two-way player playing at WR also. His bother, Daeh, will also see some time at the RB position. South has several returning o-linemen that have beefed up based on what I have read, with experienced junior Zach David at QB. The offense will be just fine based on my limited knowledge of the situation, but the defense will be a huge question mark. I assume New Albany will concentrate on the running game in the opener considering that was their bread and butter last season and South's run defense was like a sieve in last year's game, and will be almost entirely new. This is a pretty simplistic view of things, but that's my limited knowledge of things going into the season opener.
