  1. They showed that one good year doesn't mean anything when Russ Yeast didn't win.
  2. Sure. Because defenses were all keying on Steele. There's much more to it than stats.
  3. We are on the heels of the big four teams in the MIC winning the last four state titles. All four are still relevant. Carmel had a down year by their standards but they won state last year. It will be interesting as always to see how the teams stack up next year. CG may never again have the talent it had this year but the proverbial cupboard is full.
  4. Exactly. When they were contemplating 5A years ago our local (Johnson County) paper ran an article proclaiming that Whiteland (1,800+ students) shouldn't have to compete with Carmel's 5,000+ students. At the time Center Grove had 2,200 students but not a word was mentioned. As I have said for years the real goal of those promoting a split is to get the big schools away from their team. Period.
  5. If he only played for part of the season that would be a great comparison.
  6. Look at last year's results with and without Steele for an answer.
  7. Not much made of the fact that both of this year's finalists were in the smaller half of 6A enrollment.
  8. If you are getting that from my comment you have connected dots that simply aren’t there.
  9. That you aren't following it does not make the logic flawed. The "extra" students push publics to higher divisions.
  10. Yes. There are dummies on both sides. I likewise cringe when I hear "quit whining" or "get better".
  11. I'm going to need you to show your math on that one. 😆
  12. I'm well aware of Coach Moore's track record. But it isn't all or nothing regarding administrative buy-in. There are many things other MIC administrators give their football coaches that Coach Moore does not get. (I won't get into details so don't ask.) Coach could whine about it or he can do what he can within the boundaries he has been given. I'll use one example because it is close to home: involvement in the school's youth program. It doesn't require AD approval or school board authority. If you want to change your program's culture you need to start with the little guys. Join the league's board and take an active role. Make sure the kids are being taught properly. Instill a winning culture while they are young.
  13. Don't drop to the old hate/envy argument. There's rational thought to the animosity. Public schools have to accept pretty much everybody in their school district. In today's world it is difficult to find an acceptable way to word it but let's just compare the percentage of students participating in extracurriculars at private vs. public schools. Public schools have a much larger percentage of students who simply show up. They contribute nothing to the school system EXCEPT increasing the enrollment and (in the sports world) bumping the school up to a bigger division. Is that controlling enrollment? No. Is it a huge advantage for the privates? Absolutely. Does that mean I hate or envy the privates? Not even a little. My wife's family is a Ritter family. I have many friends from Roncalli and Cathedral. I've also been involved in highly competitive youth football for 20 years and crediting the success of the privates to the CYO league is avoiding the obvious.
  14. And the coaches who wait for administrative buy-in will continue to lose to the coaches who take full advantage of the boundaries they are given.
  15. Take your shots at Westfield now because they are only going to get better. Well coached, great youth program, and a rapidly growing community.
  16. Forgot about Bo. Hopefully he didn't ruin it for all future offensive linemen.
  17. To continue stirring...when will an offensive lineman win?
  18. Hopefully the voters will be capable of seeing beyond stats but I agree McCahill has had an incredible season.
  19. Plenty of good competition but it has to be Carson Steele. They still owe us one for robbing Russ Yeast. 😉
  20. CG earned that field position by limiting BD to 9 yards of total offense in the second half.
