  3. Yes, they essentially flipped them. I think it was for spacing for the expansion of the school building. That's why they had to do the athletic fields first before they could expand the school. Yes. I believe that is part of the plan, but I'm not sure of the timeline.

  5. My son played on it this past weekend for youth football. The pictures don't do it justice. It is a beautiful field. However, the facilities are not complete. There was one port-a-potty for the entire stadium and the parking was an absolute nightmare. And that was for a youth game. It will be some of the best facilities in southern Indiana when it's done.

  7. I think I may have been thinking about old enrollments... either that or their combined enrollment because they are a 6-12 school. I didn't realize they were as low as 299, or even that Austin (394) was that much higher than them. That surprises me because of their proximity to the populated Jeff/Sellersburg area and the number of developments that are going in. That would make the largest school without football Iliana Christian (which I had never heard of) at 477. There is also Hauser (329), Hebron (355) and South Ripley (362). While I am all for anyone who wnats football, @Impartial_Observer is right that it is all about administrative support and basketball will often overshadow anything else at small schools like these.
  8. In 2015, they actually folded their youth football program. A lot of people were upset, especially those in the community that were pushing hard to add high school football. Since the district has now become independent from Silver Creek, the movement has been renewed. They are reinstating youth football again this fall. I do not know if it will yield a varsity program or not, but there is still support for it. Ten years ago they even had land donated for a field but the district wouldn't take it. Seems crazy. Since Hanover Central added a program, Henryville is the largest school in the state without a program. Hopefully they can get it done.
  9. Congrats to Coach Glesing and Salem. Coach Glesing is an outstanding coach and program builder. His early roots offensively were in power run/power toss out of various pro formations. He incorporated a little more spread/wing-t kind of concepts later in his tenure at Floyd, but still had the basics of power toss as the root, though he was dressing it up with more formations. Defensively he was always a 4-3/cover 2 base with adjustments. I think Salem has always been a hard nosed, physical team and I would fully expect that to continue.
  10. Yes. Each team or head coach makes the choices. Like coach said, if the 1st place team gets 8 selections, they pick their most deserving 8. One of them might be QB. Each subsequent team could also choose their QB.
  11. If you were interested in the Kentucky version of this thread, here it is. They start their playoffs this week. They basically have an all-in that is seeded. A handful of teams don't make it but they are 0-10 type teams for the most part and it's just in districts that are designed around enrollment and location. Also, Marshall County to Simon Kenton High School is 300 miles and likely 5 hours by bus for a first round playoff game. I am with the OP here on seeding, but this thread shows you what happens when everyone makes it with an all-in format with seeding.
  12. Well it looks like it could be the last week for the HHC and our competition as a result. I am behind by two, so if I don't pick any upsets, I'm done for anyway. Here's to hoping the HHC lives to play another weekend! Columbus North Bloomington North Bloomington South Floyd Central Castle BNL
  13. North Posey at Paoli Providence at West Washington East Central at Silver Creek Corydon at Southridge Heritage Hills at Charlestown Triton Central at Brownstown
  14. Clarksville 70, Eastern 42. Clarksville RB Robert Lamar ran for over 400 yards and 8 touchdowns. Last week, he ran for over 400 and 7 touchdowns. What a two game stretch.

  19. For sure. SC is down a bit from the last few years. Should be a goood game.
  20. I'll take the blame for this one since I put it out there as my possible upset pick. 😆 But really though, they are high school kids. Sometimes, you just never know what you're going to get. That's why they play the games, because anything can happen.
  21. Crazy.. I didn't look at others' picks but that must mean it is certain that is what will happen. 😆
  22. Bedford NL at Madison Floyd Central at Jennings County Jeffersonville at Columbus East Seymour at New Albany I need to disagree with Frozen somewhere to catch up. I tried that at the end of last season and it didn't work out. If I was going to pick an upset this week, it would be JC over FC but I don't necessarily think it will happen. I also wouldn't be surprised by NA over Seymour.
  23. Mitchell at Paoli Springs Valley at Perry Central West Washington at Crawford County Brownstown at Silver Creek Charlestown at Salem Corydon at Providence Eastern Pekin at Scottsburg North Harrison at Clarksville
  24. Yes, FK said it well. My only experience at the Cactus led to food poisoning. That makes the decision pretty easy. Also - this week's picks... Bloomington North at Columbus East Floyd Central at Bedford NL Jennings County at Seymour New Albany at Jeffersonville
