Food For Thought: Bears Stadium talk is upon us again after @WaddleandSilvy yesterday. Seeing some use the United Center as the argument the Bears do not need tax certainty. Let’s break it down a little to show exactly why this example is exactly why the Bears need tax certainty to build in Arlington Heights and why Silvy’s contacts are 100% right that Indiana isn’t a leverage play… United Center: Market Value: $66,440,748 Taxable Value: $16,610,187 2024 Equalizer: 3.0355 2024 Tax Rate: 6.643% Cost to build: $175,000,000 Market Value vs Cost: ~38% Using these numbers we can estimate the 2025 property taxes to be ~$3,349,415. Now let’s do the math on Arlington Heights with ZERO tax certainty and basing it on the original estimated cost of $2.4 Billion. New Bears Stadium (100%): Market Value: $2,400,000,000 Taxable Value: $600,000,000 2024 Equalizer: 3.0355 2024 Tax Rate: 9.483% Using these numbers we can estimate the 2025 property taxes to be ~$172,713,879. That is ~$170,000,000 more in property taxes the Bears would owe EVERY YEAR without some type of PILOT program. Now let’s say Cook County decides to be nice even without tax certainty and values the stadium at 38% of cost like the United Center is currently. New Bears Stadium (38%): Market Value: $912,000,000 Taxable Value: $228,000,000 2024 Equalizer: 3.0355 2024 Tax Rate: 9.483% Now, we can estimate the 2025 property taxes to be ~$65,631,274. That’s still ~$62,000,000 more than what the property taxes are on the United Center. This isn’t difficult to understand why the Bears need tax certainty yet many are claiming it’s Billionaires getting handouts. It’s not the case here at all. Going to IN with the deal presented would be the handout and the Bears aren’t even asking for that. Come up with a reasonable incremental PILOT tax guarantee and pay for the infrastructure and Bears stay. Set it at $10,000,000 per year to start and that’s still $1,500,000 per year more than what the Rams/Chargers pay for SoFi. Take the emotion out of it and math is math. It is simple, yet Illinois has been dragging this along for 3 years. #DaBears

Something that puts all the Commercial companies on a bingo card. So when the that usual funny DORITOS (or at least attempt of humor ) commercial comes on, she checks her bingo card and see if it's one she can X out. She gets silly dollar tree "prizes" for giggles. Her only thing she cares about for the "Big Game'. Took her and the daughter to my guys Bocce Ball Bar/Restaurant for his annual super bowl party 2 years ago, though they had commercial noise on it was too hard for her bingo and that has kept her away since. More than fair for many just like folks rooting against the Chiefs last few years .... Heavy is the Head that wears the Crown

My wife plays Commercial Bingo, let me know if you want in I also tend to lean towards the VET nature at the most key position, which is QB: Edge Seattle : Patriots Swagger under Vrabel is noted, and their DL is outstanding. Once again, IMO, games usually come down to the OL/DL play, which dictates how well QBs play many times. I have real good friends who are Patriots fans out east, so my heart is with them it seems. Lets go 28-27 Pats with Seattle missing a game winning FG ( I have seen the script )

25-26 DOE Enrollments

Typically: Classifications 1st, then Sectionals next I believe the next executive IHSAA meeting is February 20th, so that would be the earliest that release is my guess -
1. I agree, don' t need shot clock for HS (still don't understand how shot clock reduces fouls 2. So College Basketball hasn't been pure 1985? I am disappointed in you my friend, one of your reasons not to have it had nothing to do with the excessive money that would cost schools an subsequent school tax base to govt entity known as High School (public of course) 😀

Not our 1st time playing NK, hence why they were very interested in playing as well, (see 2020). And both schools agreed that it would be great to play on Friday and make a day of it, just like we did when we had to got to Champaign to play in Illinois when Delphi bounced, and same reason we were up at WOODSTOCK IL, 2 years ago before Glenn contract started. We will have a great day, Load a charter bus and have a full on Bomber Travel brigade down, then guess what, the next year, NK will come on up, gasps..... ON A FRIDAY. Parents already talking about getting their own travel. bus as well. FUN. Knox will be in our sectional coming up this cycle is my guess. I love playing Whiting bc I"ve always wanted to play at their place selfishly You do realize RCHS has lost 120+ student population since we won state in 2014. Same reason why schools like NORTHWESTERN for instance and their SUPER bounced unannounced and paid whatever penalty they negotiated to RUN FAST from Hoosier to 3 Rivers. Things change, demographics and total bodies have changed, so yes, KNOX is a fine program, but just bc certain schools open doesn't make it a great choice/fit for various reasons. I am very comfortable with Coach Meeks and his choices on how to build his schedule, I think its a homerun, Wish, Lapel stayed in week 5, but they jumped in their conference now and Frontier wanted to schedule and all that, so just jumped on that it seems. See above: Why Should be purposefully schedule 4a School like Lowell, or Private powerhouse who if they do what their talent usually dictate should not be back in 2a anytime soon, but we shall see. We will have: KV/NN/Griffith/River Forest and Whiting. That is over half our current schedule in the CENTRAL time zone, which for ALL our coaches was one of the major factors of looking to leave/ go independent and ANY future conference discussions (ZERO RIGHT NOW FYI) will center around that aspect

it was more the rumor of potential wearing a dress.... I could care less on all of it....

I didn't because you also have to add in the fans from a school in South Bend as well, the ole Combo fan I literally know 6 people within my world who tell me, I love ND and IU the same, it used to be ND football and IU Basketball , you know .. .because that was was the winners traditionally, now it is I love them both the same...... So add that into the very large ( 2nd largest Alum base in USA I believe ). Like the new b10 here, as mentioned the IU FB crowd was out west... no different than PU Hoops, their was very very large loud alum base a few weeks ago out at USC/UCLA hoops game. I think that is natural for alum that is spread out.. .IU is coming to cali.... we are 2 hours away... easier than flying back home if you will. Really, would have lost that wager..... figured they were state school....
