  1. Someone’s gotta win: Tri-County 28, South Newton 20 Third Quarter
  2. Hard to believe almost. Play like a champion, everyone!!!
  3. Looks like this thread is all about opinion, and, of course I have mine: I have ave a proclivity to think outside the box, so my criteria obviously differs. Coaching is more about winning and losing as it also must incorporate elements of planning, not just for the game, but life in general...
  4. I’m sorry to hear of your loss, my condolences.
  5. Great kid, good family. His old man played football at Butler.
  6. Not much of a UK fan either, so I basically let it go...
  7. I don't mean to diss DT (that much). I know he's probably means well, but he went a little too far this time as I am a proud alum and had some of the best memories in life happen in Kentland, Goodland, and Brook. Raub and Earl Park, too, but some things are best left unsaid... That being said, the population is small and life can be boring, but here's the kicker: sports bring people together. SN has had their fair share of great athletes and that will continue.
  8. No doubt! I saw that game when I was a wee Gipper and had no idea it would transcend time like this. Far better than Christian Laettner's shot against UK if you ask me...

  10. Good one! Being that I'm still in the Purdue-TCU hangover, I'll try to post a few myself...
  11. He can’t take the ball and go home because it’s not his ball to begin with. I’m not saying the losing streak isn’t bad because it is. We only had one winning season during my years in the cornfields and sometimes we’d get blown out. Yet, no one was saying our doom was imminent. You know why? It wasn’t. Still isn’t. Diatribe is one applicable term. I have a few others...
  12. Too late, although I find his childish antics funny.
  13. In case you missed it, and you probably have, the 0-4 South Newton Rebels will face the 0-4 Lake Station Eagles in what should be dubbed the Contraction Bowl... DT is going to sing the National anthem...
  14. BTW, sports fans, South Newton happens to field a middle school team (2 or 3 probably), so there’s interest. As I have said countless times before, athletics there are very cyclical. I’m sure no one thought they should give up when Eric Watt led the mighty Rebels to the Semi-State not too long ago...
  15. Can't ignore this tasty nugget: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FA3BcMa4rc or this:
  16. The Rebels are not the lone team in the state to have not won a game yet. Examples include fellow Midwest Conference member Tri-County, Class A member Madison-Grant, all the way up to 5A big boy Munster. By their futile records, are they also goners?
  17. Well, after the Rose Bowl, of course--but not for awhile. I actually wouldn't mind seeing his brother, Brian or Nick Holt as coach should he leave.
  18. Let them talk--JB's not going anywhere. Besides, do you think a blueblood like USC or Auburn will hire a coach with a .500 winning percentage? I think a lot of people talk crap just because they don't have anything logical to say.
  19. Purdue will start getting the good ones. It's happened before, will happen again...
  20. there are re no losers TPC Someone's gotta win (to say consistent, I'm going with Johnny Reb) Newton county sweeps it!
  21. For sake of argument, let's say Kansas' basketball program hired Chris Collins--the good folks in Lawrence would go insane...
