As a SN alumnus, I’m happy there will still be games. But the circumstances will be quite different, most notably in competition. The MWC has been whittled down into a very manageable league, with pretty easy travel times across the board. NN to Frontier is the furthest at about an hour away. I like how the folks of Kentland, Goodland, and Brook will have another chance to get together, but I’m most happy for the players.

At least SN is maintaining their tradition in volleyball…

There have been so many new subdivisions being built in both Cedar Lake and Lowell. Crown Point, too but they’re on another level.

Given NC’s sheer student size, I think it was only a matter of time before they found good players. Although I’m aware Tech isn’t great, but giving up 9 TDs? Really? Shouldn’t be that surprised by Hanover’s win over the Outlet Mall. That school is really going to take off as there has been many news subdivisions going up. Cancel Lowell-CP? Walk into Bearski’s Pub & Eatery and see how that goes over with the old farts. Largely in part the Red Satanists pummeled CP when Kirk (not John F.) Kennedy was at the helm.

I was taken aback by Lafayette Jeff and Silas Chatard a bit. Although I understand Catholic football and the better than average teams within it in our fair state, but wasn’t expected such a one-sided affair.

Interesting week 1–Center Grove goes down, Lafayette Jeff gets annihilated, Bloomington North & South playing an out of conference game, South Newton playing 8-man ball against Waldron tonight, should be a heck of a season…

I do know my swimming as I swam at South Newton. The William D. Elbert Aquatic Centre is well known for only having 5 competition lanes as opposed to 6 or 8. As a side note, it’s not named after Elbert, I just chose to honor him as he was both my principal and Pappy Gipper’s basketball coach when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. Second side note, daddio played for the Kentland Blue Devils who were quite good, offering as BDP as a forerunner to RDP.

Aspen HS is in Colorado nicknamed the Skiers, yet they have a very swimming program. Maybe not Carmel good, but not bad for a landlocked state smack dab in some of the world’s best, yet nauseatingly expensive skiing terrain in the world.

And how about those Manchester Squires as opposed to Cavaliers and the Southmont Mounties for making the dubious choice of honoring the long arm of the law in our neighbors to the north?

I would be remiss if i didn’t offer a little praise to Blackford and North Central (just north of Terre Haute, not the one on 86th Street in Indianapolis) for thinking outside the box. Their monikers of the Bruins and Thunderbirds offer fresh alternatives to the overplayed Bears and Cardinals/Eagles/Hawks. Wabash and Brebeuf are trying to go the un-PC route by using the Apaches and Braves as opposed to Indians, but I can see through it.

And although they’re good, Lafayette Jeff is not the litmus test.
