  1. What fun would that be? It's always fun to have teams like the Cornjerkers, Wooden Shoes, and Banana Slugs on your schedule...
  2. I'll be of the propensity to get bored at work, but some stuff you can't make up: the Effingham (IL) High School Flaming Hearts...
  3. Lastly, the overlords at Nike have adorned "Fighting" Ducks on the University of Oregon's basketball uniforms, I'm sure PETA is just chomping at the bit...
  4. I do what I can. Funny you say that--a school in the Chicago Suburbs, is named the Blazing Trojans.
  5. The school opened in the late 1960s--way different era then. Old South was the way to go apparently--who knew?
  6. It would be much more sensical for the Berries to join the Sagamore or CIC.
  7. I never knew that about NN--good thing they didn't. As an SN alumnus, I never really liked being a Rebel as I am much more fun-loving. But back to the topic--Minuteman: bad news...
  8. I am for Logan leaving the NCC as I believe it is a sinking ship, but going to the HC sets the bar too low. love their nickname, though...
  9. Has this become the Nickname Hall of Fame 2.0? Will religious leaders find problems with Red and Blue Devils of Lowell, Pike, Richmond, Tipton, and West Lafayette? Even Pappy Gipper's Alma Mater was the Blue Devils before consolidating into South Newton and becoming the equally politically correct Rebels. I wonder if PETA will show up in Oxford sometime this fall to protest BC's Bison. They may also go after the Bronchos of Lafayette Jeff for the mere fact they can't properly spell it. Safe schools would include the Hanover Central Wildcats, Lawrence Central Bears, Rushville Lions, and Seymour Owls, The ancient worlds of Greece and Rome have been glorified, too as many schools have chosen Athenians, Spartans, Titans, and Trojans as their moniker. The Pendleton Heights Arabians would probably be on PETA's list as opposed to that race of people who seem to hate everything.
  10. I wonder how this will be received by bigger programs such as Anderson and Lake Central.
  11. Agreed. To be the best (or maybe second best in this instance), you have to play the best
  12. Sad, if you asked me. Indiana high school teams should be playing other teams in the state--it's that simple.
  13. I'm not the least bit upset. I think Hudson Card will do great things and Ryan Browne should be a good backup. Marco Davila, a top-respect from Texas, is a commit for next year.
  14. From a football perspective, I love it. Bus as for the non-revenue (or "country club {treading lightly} sports"), it could be logistically challenging...
  15. Someone gets me! Scary, but I don't feel so "out there"...
  16. What about good ol' Mrs. Crabtree from South Park fame?
  17. This has been a head-scratcher to me as it seemed to bring in a little more geographic balance with the Lafayette schools on the western flank, while Marion, Muncie, and Richmond comprised the east with Kokomo, Logansport, and (to a lesser extent) Tech being in the middle. I'm not real sure how long a six-team league can survives running on the fumes of yesterday.
  18. You never know. I'd like to see half of the DAC in this new conference, but don't think it would be good for all.
  19. I was being somewhat facetious as I know there are no roads between Lafayette and Terre Haute. Then again, the Beef House can be reached if the route takes one from SR 26 to SR 63.
  20. North would be tough. Although they would be a good fit in either the DAC or NCC, this time zone thing issue complicates things. They're probably too big for the Hoosier and Sagamore and the Mid-State idea probably wouldn't go over too well. Might as well throw the Mavericks and Raiders with the Hautians! Conference Misfit: Harrison, McCutcheon, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South. Might as well add Frankfort and West Vigo...
