    That is a very valid question--thank you for your insight. That is one reason why I'm not in favor this this. Another one, what would be done with the class 1A schools. Have them run cross country or play volleyball?

    All good. It’s a dilemma. Sure, beating the crap out of other teams is a good thing, but when it comes as a result of you getting the crap beat out of is a wash. In the words of Geno Auriemma, “get better”...

    Question about this: how will it make said relegated team better? They'll still play the same regular season and only 1-3 games in their new Sectional. and it will cause a potential l log jam in the new class as new sectionals will need to be created. If a school needs to go down, it should be their decision as it was Cathedral's to go up.

    With that, there is a domino effect. The lower class could become too big.

    My thoughts exactly--no one gets all the cards. Additionally, the IHSAA is not the Premier League in England where teams can often be relegate due to performance. BTW, I'm not a fan of the success factor either as most teams end up back in their original and rightful class in a very short while.

    Fellow WRC member Seeger (Warren) is usually pretty good as well.

    That can often be the case for many athletic departments--too much of an old boy network.

    Indiana is a farming state, therefore a lot of our land is needed for growing crops and raising livestock. With that, farmers will need to educate their children which is why schools such as WeBo, Pioneer, and Seeger exist.

    I grew up in Kentland: people played sports all the time, there was and still is interest.

    it is what it is, I just think there are always grumblings when parings come out, etc.

    I think there were other factors that led to consolidation than just football, an extracurricular activity...

    It wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, but again, people are creatures of habit (schedulers included). Imagine the Old Oaken Bucket game being played in September...

    A huge enrollment of more than 2000, 2500, 3000...10,000 kids isn’t necessarily the answer. Other factors need to be considered. Take Linton as an example, or even Pioneer: both have very small enrollments, yet both are consistently good. Props to them.

    Have Anderson and Muncie gotten any better?

    No matter what happens, people will complain. The IHSAA does the best job they can and weigh all the factors.

    Truer words have never been spoken. I never made it bast Semi-State in any of my athletic endeavors, does that make my time playing worthless? Of course not. Winning a state title is tough. Just being in the moment with your friends is also a reward.

    I think they should to totally symmetrical. Divide the number of teams by 6. Not that hard..
