How do you know it “didn’t benefit them one bit?”
During that four year period Snider seasons ended in blowout loses, first year of closed conference Snider wins state. As Mr. Spock would say "I'm stating fact captain not opinion."

Because it benefits Luers in the tournament by playing larger schools in the regular season. I'm struggling with why you don't think Snider would benefit from playing larger schools like Luers does. It's common sense.
There was four year period where Snider had two out of conference games and it didn't benefit them one bit.

I'm dreaming of a soggy football field just like the ones I used to know. just kidding.
Thinking of that, what Christmas gift would you wish for your program?
My would be field turf for Luersfield.

It would be an epic move for the SAC overall if it's true. It better serves the larger schools than the smaller ones though. If Luers dropped Snider and picked up an Adams Central or a Coldwater Ohio, would that serve the Knights for the better or worse? Without a doubt I think it would benefit Snider, maybe rekindle their rivalry with Penn.
It didn't benefit Snider by playing Penn before when they were a lot better. For Luers dropping Snider for Adams Central would be a waste of time for Luers, not trying to be arrogant. Maybe Leo or East Noble might help.

All I was trying to do is start a fun little discussion on what people thought or hoped would happen next year in the conference. Maybe I should have started a thread on conference realignment then we could discuss who wins the SAC next year.

I am fine with the "way too early predictions".
But the issue with the conference as a whole, is that it is a CLOSED one as it relates to football. The 3 privates are the benefactors of this system, IMO.
It gives none of the larger publics any conception of how they relate to any of the other institutions outside of the area/conference/state. So the playoffs become a crap-shoot for them.
As for the privates, they always get the added bonus of then playing within the lower classification that they are assigned (playoffs); After having gone through the grind of playing larger schools.
Having said all that, it will always be the same thing: Wash, Rinse, Repeat....year after year with the SAC!
Can we ever have a SAC thread that stays on topic without some outsider trying to tell us how to run our own conference.

They were the best team Homestead saw all season. Having the experience and knowing what to expect when you meet a team like that again is extremely valuable. Had they played in the regular season I think they would have kept the game much closer in the playoffs. Homestead has an amazing and dedicated coaching staff that would have put in the time to see weaknesses to exploit and their own weaknesses that were exploited against them. Westfield most likely would have won, but we would have actually had a game.
There's a reason people say it's hard to beat a team twice.
How do you know that Westfield would not have learned more from that game also and won by even more. One thing Westfield probably would learn is until SAC teams get better they would benefit very little from playing them.

This 100%. Carroll and Homestead were both good this year in terms of the SAC, but the Indy schools are just on a much higher level right now in 6A.
Cathedral traveled to East Noble in 2016. I am sure they would play Carroll, Dwenger, Homestead or Snider.
I don't think you'll necessarily get a big 4 from the MIC to schedule a game at the moment, but other MIC schools or schools in the HCC would definitely be a possibility. Roncalli and Chatard wouldn't be bad to play either for any team in the top half of the SAC.
Let's say Homestead would have played Westfield in the regular season and got throttled 42-9 how would that help Homestead in the playoffs?

There was a four year period where SAC teams had two out of conference games during this stretch Snider's seasons ended in blowout loses. When Carroll and Homestead joined the SAC which resulted in closed scheduling Snider wins State that first year. It's not who play that makes you better it's how you play that does.
-
Who are teams going to play that will help them out? Indy area schools aren't going to travel to Ft. Wayne when they know it won't help them out they'll get better competition staying close to home.
-
Contenders for the bell.. Homestead, Dwenger, Carroll and Snider.
Tier 2... Concordia, Luers, Northrop and Wayne
Bottom tier... North side and South Side
Take this with a grain of salt due to my ignorance of who everyone has coming back and or transfers etc.

That's fair. I might defend my prediction by saying that they were up big until they lost one of their most important players and I've never been good at predicting injuries.
But you're right. Luers won and my prediction ended up being wrong.
I was just kidding with you my man. By the way I didn't predict my Luers making it out of the sectionals lol.

Not sure how that’s sandbagging? I’m just not ready to anoint them as state champions like many others are. Yes they have a good team coming back but they also are losing key players at key positions and also aren’t very big size wise. Also, I’m considering the possibility of injuries (Sir Hale went down this past year and some others). Realistically speaking, a 4-5 regular season isn’t far fetched and we all know that in the playoffs nothing is a garunteed, especially in 2A North.
I was joking. There was a few Luers posters in previous years that would always say Luers would be lucky to win a certain game in which Luers would end up winning by 40.
-
Honorable mention for me in 2a is Kyle Lindsay. Instead of having back to back state championship he had back to back 3-6 regular seasons and was 8 seconds away a from state championship.

The cadets will be down after losing most if not all of their playmakers on both sides of the ball. 3-6/4-5 range in the SAC. By the time playoffs come around, I think they’ll get a favorable draw with Norwell losing a good senior class as well and could make a run.
Snider and Carroll will battle for the Victory Bell. Dwenger and Homestead will be right behind. Snider is the only one of those 4 that didn’t really lose much to graduation. Snider could legitimately be a threat in 5A. Strong defense, playmakers on offense with a big line. Just need to iron out the Qb situation.
As far as Luers goes, I’m not sure why so many are already penciling them in as state champions?? I think in conference Luers next year is 3-6/4-5 like Concordia, with the winner being 4-5 lol. Playoff wise, it’s no gimme. They will most likely have Eastside, Fairfield and Adams Central in their sectional. Regional they’ll see the likes of Eastbrook, Tipton and semi state could see matchups with LCC or Pioneer. All of those teams are capable of beating Luers and very well could if the Knights don’t play 48 minutes of Luers football. All those picking Luers to win it, yes they could but I wouldn’t bet on it.
What ever happend to Komets3001? I miss him calling out sandbagging Luers Fans.😁

What’s with all of the outrage? Pretty factual piece other than the private/parochial quote.

North sides team that had so much success this year was filled with seniors and not many underclassmen key players. With not much coming back to work with, I kind of expected a move like this. Had he stayed, he’d essentially be starting all over. Big question here to me is this: where does 6’3 freshman receiver Brontae Johnson go? Stay at north or transfer?? And if transfer, to where?
He wouldn't fit in athletically at Luers. (refer to Jerry Tarkanian in the movie Blue Chips)

I don't see him jumping ship at Wayne after 1 year especially for North.
Not sure how desirable the North job is especially with Dwenger looming in the sectional for who knows how long. Hopefully the Legends can get a great replacement to keep the momentum going from this year.
I think I have Covid of the brain. I forgot he is currently at Wayne.

Would Sherwood Haydock fit there?

I think Illinois uses the record of your opponents as qualifying criteria
they can use that and sagarin
Illinois has the issue where Chicago public seeded teams get seeded high but lose 1st couple rounds because they don’t play anyone
A few weeks before the playoffs Sagarin didn't even have Luers in the top 50 in 2a.
